I cringe every time I see an ad for GLP-1 drugs, and a friend sent this to me. They ran this Super Bowl ad last night.

Serena Williams actually injects herself, dancing with glee at the convenience of it all, especially because the drug comes with an app, and it even comes in pill form. Even better!
This is so irresponsible. Think of all the teen girls watching her as a role model.

Here is something that got lost in the shuffle last week...the MASSIVE layoffs at the Washington Post.

The newspaper laid off ONE THIRD of its newsroom (about 300 people).

CEO Will Lewis stepped down on the 8th.

The Sports Department: officially closed

International: Several foreign bureaus closed, including the Seoul "news hub" and the entire Middle East desk.

Local/Metro Desk: Dramatically reduced; reports indicate the desk was slashed from over 40 staffers to roughly a dozen.

Photography: The paper's entire staff of in-house photojournalists was eliminated.

Books & Podcasts: The books section was closed, and the daily news podcast, Post Reports, was suspended.

Layoffs were sudden and unexpected.

Human beings crave "closure".

Without it, the tension of not knowing how to put thoughts into this or that category can be "crazy making", especially when emotions get into the mix.

When we "shut the lid down" on mental debates that cause physical discomfort, we run the risk of future error that can even turn into tragedy.

There is always the possibility of greater understanding when life ages well like a fine wine that requires time to develop its potential.

How many family disputes turn into "centuries of revenge" that never resolve in true forgiveness and reconciliation?

Some traits run in families:

The ability to fix things from found materials.

The ability to "fly by instruments" when one sees nothing but foggy clouds outside the cockpit window.

The ability to do math "in your head".

Then comes the "outlier" child. The artist, musician, performer. If the family "trend" is toward logic, they may never feel comfortable with the one who is different.

But life is full of discomfort! It helps us mature into a compassionate being, able to feel for answers or just provide a sounding board to someone bursting with emotion.

You don't need official certificates of worthiness for that!

The EPA, under Lee Zeldin, plans to revoke the 2009 "endangerment finding", an Obama-era determination that six greenhouse gases “threaten the public health and welfare of current and future generations” and that has anchored federal climate regulation under the Clean Air Act, according to a new Wall Street Journal report.

Bloomberg reported that the repeal could be announced as soon as Wednesday, citing an unnamed source.

Obamacare Fraud Targeted By New Federal Rule | ZeroHedge

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has unveiled new regulations to strengthen the integrity of the Obamacare insurance exchanges and promote innovation.

The new federal rule, released for comment on Feb. 9, will lower the cost of health care, according to Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“At President [Donald] Trump’s direction, [this agency] is driving down costs and rooting out fraud across our health insurance programs,” Kennedy said in a statement, predicting that the policy changes overall will reduce premiums and increase consumer choice.

The proposed regulations will be published in the Federal Register on Feb. 11 and open for comment for 30 days.

The infamous Salem witch trials began during the spring of 1692, after a group of young girls in Salem Village, Massachusetts, claimed to be possessed by the devil and accused several local women of witchcraft.

As a wave of hysteria spread throughout colonial Massachusetts, a special court convened in Salem to hear the cases; the first convicted witch, Bridget Bishop, was hanged that June. Got this from a sanitation worker in NYC. Important summary. Bottom line: it's not their fault and not the administration's. Read and consider:
"Hello,

I am a sanitation worker for DSNY. Any claims like that are false. We were picking up garbage starting 3 days after the storm. The department was on full force with mandatory OT so we were working 12hr days with all hands on deck. I am currently getting ready for my 17th day in a row. The snow brings some huge logistical challenges when picking up garbage; we were only able to work at half our normal pace - if that. Extra care has to be taken stepping out of the truck and traversing to the sidewalk due to ice; it’s very easy to get injured in these conditions. Dragging pails over mountains of snow/ice with cars parked bumper to bumper was a nightmare. Residents shoulder some of the blame here as pails should have been accessible for us to drag to the truck and sidewalks shoveled and salted. We greatly appreciate the residents that did that for us. The giant piles of bags from buildings are a challenge in the snow for the same reasons as well as the fact that extra care must be taken to make sure they did not bust open. The extreme cold makes the bags brittle and prone to that happening. Another issue contributing to the backlog is the fact that the trucks can only hold so much garbage before “loading out” and with many people staying home the volume of garbage was vastly increased. Once a truck loads out it is out of service until it is able to be dumped (trucks were being dumped on the 4hr OT portion of the shift). Besides dumping the trucks our OT functions included corner baskets and clearing crosswalks/pedestrian ramps, bus stops and fire hydrants from snow/ice. I am no fan of Mamdani but he does not shoulder any blame here, nor does the department. The extended freezing conditions and residents refusing to make things accessible for us are the main reasons things piled up. One more thing to keep in mind - recycling was not prioritized due to the fact that recycling does not smell, rot or attract rodents. That’s why you may still see recycling being left out in some places. Cardboard is not supposed to be put out loose, it should be bagged or bundled. Many residents also refuse to do that leading to it blowing around everywhere and becoming saturated with snow. It’s tiring when they want to point the finger at those working almost 3 weeks straight of 12hr days but can’t even do their part.
