California has seen the writing on the wall and is already preparing. Convinced that at some undetermined day, still in the future, they won’t have to depend on HAM Radio operators for emergency communications, they’ve decided they don’t need them now. Therefore, they have sent a letter to all HAM Radio operators in the state, informing them that their repeaters will no longer be allowed to be on “public” land or buildings for free, but would instead have to pay hefty fees to locate them there.
The repeaters in question are privately owned and operated radios that boost the signal of communications that will otherwise not reach their intended destination. They are not owned by corporations which have deep pockets to pay government fees, but by individuals who provide emergency communications for free. Yet the government is now expecting them to pay for that privilege.
The repeaters don’t cost the government of California one cent. They are totally funded by the HAM Radio operators; people who provide this as a public service, out of their own pockets, in order to help ensure public safety in a time of emergency.

They’re not benign public servants, they’re drug pushers -in this case vaccines- with armies and bodyguards. They protect corporations and institutions, not the rights of their people. They’re not democrats, they’re authoritarians. We are ruled by ideologies, not principles. The only rights we have are those that they “allow” us to have. There are no basic or inalienable rights left. Our politicians represent, and serve, long established parties and systems that have ruled for at least decades, in a symbiosis with corporations.
If there’s one lesson to learn from the sordid never-ending Covid episode it must be that: your human rights are just a thin veneer that serves to make your reality look nice and shiny, but may be scraped off at any moment. What does that say about our forefathers and -mothers who fought, and died, in order to provide us with inalienable rights? Do we really owe those people less than we owe our current ruling classes?

When Paul writes in Ephesians 6 about the armor of God, he says something that may not be as focused on as much as the actual armor items:
That the armor will be used.
War-torn armor is dented. It aint flashy. It contours to the one who wears it, so it “fits” them & not others.
As a young infantry officer, I wanted my kit to look weather-worn like the veteran NCOs.
It was prized to have war-weathered armor.
Same applies here to God’s armor.
We fight in the same spiritual war, but we have different battles.
Part of our battle should be sharing war stories - how God’s armor has saved us.
Satan uses different tactics against each of us, which will impact different pieces of the armor differently.
One last important thing - 1st century readers of this passage would no doubt think of a Roman soldier, and they’d notice one main difference:
Roman soldiers had multiple weapons (pilums/spears, gladius/sword, and dagger/knife).
Here, Paul mentions ONE weapon.
We don’t have an armory to choose from. We have God’s Word. Which is sufficient to do all the fighting necessary.
Amen.
Now go to war...
