Is she the chimney, or the smoke that passes through it?
She has absorbed the smoke, the smell, the dark, until she became it. She no longer recognises what’s left of her beyond the grime, the oily, oily grime.
She imagines she was a good chimney(if that’s even a thing)just to feel a little better about the burn mark she is.
She likes to think she made the world(that tiny hut) better by inhaling its excrement, by giving it back to clean air.
She knows she didn’t see much of it when she was clean at first. She thought, what a thing to be created as, what a purpose to serve. Alas.
Now she longs for a cleaning hand, something to clear the fog, to see past her black. Her tip has narrowed, and some of the smoke now bounces back, forcing the house to reflect what she has been for too long: a confinement for all that was left out.
'kill her, for she's a witch!!'

Davisson-Germer
This was the first direct piece of experimental evidence to prove the electrons behave like waves, which strongly supported the wave denoscription later formalized in Schrodinger's equation and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.
Their experiment focused on scattering electrons from crystals whose atoms are spaced appropriately and checking if that leads to diffraction, which would prove electrons indeed have wave-like behaviors.
To be noted that the wave-particle duality of electrons were earlier hypothesized by deBroglie.
Davisson has shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with George.P. Thomson.
Fun fact: this was J.J. Thomson's son who discovered electron as a particle and he helped prove it's wave nature.
There's a Davison-Gerer prize for atomic or surface physics too apparently.
