Russian spy chief weighs in on Truss' alleged 'It's done' text
The head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin says he has "indirect confirmation" that the message reading "It's done" that then-UK PM Liz Truss allegedly sent to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was about the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. During his brief interview with Rossiya 1 channel on Sunday, Naryshkin was asked whether Russian intelligence believed there were "ample grounds" to link Truss' text message to the explosions at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in late September, in which three out of four lines of the Nord Stream were damaged. "I only have indirect confirmation that all this has grounds under it," the spy chief responded. In late October, Russia's defense ministry openly blamed the UK for being involved in the sabotage of the pipelines, which carried Russian gas to Europe through Germany. According to the ministry, "British specialists" from the Royal Navy, based in the Ukrainian city of Ochakov, "took part in planning,...

Coast Guard offering 'unheard of' $50K signing bonuses as vaccine mandates causing critical staff shortages
The U.S. Coast Guard is offering up to $50,000 signing bonuses in an effort to bolster recruitment, after the number of guardsmen has plummeted, in large part due to the military's strict COVID-19 vaccination mandate. According to internal USCG documents obtained by Fox News Digital from October detailing fiscal year 2023 workforce planning, "Culinary Specialist," or "CS," level recruits could receive bonuses up to $50,000 each. Active-duty Coast Guard Lt. Chad Coppin called the $50,000 CS-level bonuses, which would involve positions such as cooks, "absolutely unheard of."

Saving the world with lithium? Four times a week an e-bike battery catches fire in New York
More deadly than man-made climate change Six people have died in New York this year so far due to house fires started by e-bikes. I had no idea. Fires from exploding e-bike batteries multiply in NYC — sometimes fatally Matthew Schuerman, NPR NEW YORK — Four times a week on average, an e-bike or e-scooter battery catches fire in New York City. These bikes when they fail, they fail like a blowtorch," said Dan Flynn, the chief fire marshal at the New York Fire Department. "We've seen incidents where people have described them as explosive — incidents where they actually have so much power, they're actually blowing walls down in between rooms and apartments." As of Friday, the FDNY investigated 174 battery fires, putting 2022 on track to double the number of fires that occurred last year (104) and quadruple the number from 2020 (44). So far this year, six people have died in e-bike-related fires and 93 people were injured, up from four deaths and 79 injuries last year. In early August,...

Mouth cancer causes grow as cases skyrocket in UK, HPV now a major concern
Cases of mouth cancer in the UK have increased by more than one-third in the last decade to hit a record high, according to a new report. The number of cases has more than doubled within the last generation and previous common causes like smoking and drinking are being added to by other lifestyle factors. Comment: Except the number of people who smoke is at a record low, so clearly smoking isn't to blame. According to the Oral Health Foundation, 8,864 people in the UK were diagnosed with the disease last year - up 36 per cent on a decade ago, with 3,034 people losing their life to it within the year. This is an increase in deaths of 40 per cent in the last 10 years, and a 20-per-cent rise in the last five.

Religion without Belief: Is it possible?
Can you be religious without believing? A Christian without affirming the central dogmas? It is a timely question, especially since there seem to be many people who, faced with a world gone bonkers, are reconsidering their ideas about faith, spiritual questions, and metaphysical stances. And it is a question that has been recently discussed in a very insightful conversation between Rupert Sheldrake, Philip Goff, and Paul Kingsnorth, which I recommend. It seems to me we desperately need to make a distinction here: between propositional belief and faith in the unseen world.

Paul Singer of hedge-fund giant Elliott warns looming hyperinflation could lead to 'global societal collapse'
Elliott contends markets have not fallen far enough and the world is hurtling toward the worst financial crisis since World War II "Investors should not assume they have 'seen everything.' " That's executives at leading hedge-fund firm Elliott Management Corp. warning that the world is heading toward the worst financial crisis since World War II. In a letter sent to investors, and reportedly seen by the Financial Times, the Florida-headquartered firm told clients that it believes the global economy is in an "extremely challenging" situation that could lead to hyperinflation. Elliott did not respond to MarketWatch's request for comment. The firm, led by billionaire Paul Singer and Jonathan Pollock, told its clients that "investors should not assume they have 'seen everything' " because they have been through the peaks and troughs of the 1987 crash, the dot-com boom and bust, the 2008 global financial crisis, and previous bear and bull markets.

SOTT FOCUS: Wot's in the Shots?
Graphene oxide? Nanobots? What is in the Pfizer vaccines? Recently, Dr David Nixon, a Brisbane GP, decided to find out, putting droplets of vaccine and the blood of vaccinated patients under a dark-field microscope. That's a more radical decision than it might sound. According to Sasha Latypova, a scientist with 25 years of experience in clinical trials for pharmaceutical companies, the contract between Pfizer and the US government prohibits independent researchers from studying the vaccines. They claim it would 'divert' these precious resources away from their intended use fulfilling an 'urgent' need. Is that true in Australia? Who knows? All the Commonwealth Department of Health has said about its contract with Pfizer is that it is commercial-in-confidence.

Norwegian man now identifies as a disabled woman, uses wheelchair "almost all the time"
A man in Norway is sparking outrage on social media after he was sympathetically interviewed about his decision to begin identifying as a disabled woman. On October 28, Good Morning Norway (God Morgen Norge, GMN) aired an interview with Jørund Viktoria Alme, 53, an able-bodied male who now identifies as a disabled woman. In the interview, Alme stated that he had always wished he had been born a woman who was paralyzed from the waist down. Alme, a senior credit analyst for Handelsbanken in Oslo, has received positive coverage in Norwegian media since he first announced his trans-disability publicly on Facebook in 2020. He has given several interviews, often alongside his wife, Agnes Mjålseth. Despite having no physical handicaps, Alme currently utilizes a wheelchair "almost all the time."

Homeland Security admits it tried to manufacture fake terrorists for Trump
A new Homeland Security report details orders to connect protesters arrested in Portland to one another in service of the Trump's imaginary antifa plot. The Department of Homeland Security launched a failed operation that ensnared hundreds, if not thousands, of U.S. protesters in what new documents show was as a sweeping, power-hungry effort before the 2020 election to bolster President Donald Trump's spurious claims about a "terrorist organization" he accused his Democratic rivals of supporting. An internal investigative report, made public this month by Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat of Oregon, details the findings of DHS lawyers concerning a previously undisclosed effort by Trump's acting secretary of homeland security, Chad Wolf, to amass secret dossiers on Americans in Portland attending anti-racism protests in summer 2020 sparked by the police murder of Minneapolis father George Floyd. Comment: "Minneapolis father" is how they've chosen to describe George Floyd. Not drug addict,...

A lobbying firm with deep ties to the Conservative party planned a secretive campaign to influence elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in exchange for millions of pounds from a mining company. Leaked documents suggest the influential firm co-owned by the veteran Tory strategist Sir Lynton Crosby agreed to help the mining company swing a presidential election in the central African country. Ukraine bombed dam with American missiles - Kherson officials
The Ukrainian military fired US-made HIMARS missiles at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam in Kherson Region on Sunday, damaging one of the floodgates, emergency services have told RIA Novosti. Six projectiles targeted the structure at around 10am local time. Five were intercepted by Russian air defenses, but one made it through, a representative said. "The Armed Forces of Ukraine aren't giving up on their attempts to destroy the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and create the circumstances for a humanitarian disaster," the statement explained. The local authorities later clarified that the missile had failed to cause critical damage. In recent weeks, Moscow has been blaming Kiev for attempting numerous attacks on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam, which stands on the Dnieper River, upstream from the city of Kherson.
