A devastating lightning strike has left small-scale farmers in Caguba Village reeling after it killed 11 of their cows while they grazed in an open field during a thunderstorm, wiping out what many call their "bank" for emergencies like paying school fees or lobola, and sparking urgent calls for government help to protect livestock in rural areas prone to severe weather.
The Tragic Lightning Strike Incident The bolt hit on Thursday morning, 5 February 2026, as heavy rains pounded the area.
The cows, belonging to two local farmers, were out grazing when the storm turned deadly.
Mthandazo Mthimkhulu lost three of his animals, worth about R30,000, while Thandazile Mjokovana saw eight of hers die in an instant.

Florida freeze batters citrus belt, inflicts "significant damage" to central orange groves
Floridians were once again warned this week to watch out for falling iguanas as an ultra-rare cold blast sent temperatures plunging to record lows of 22F in Jacksonville and 24F in Orlando.
Whenever Arctic air pours into The Sunshine State, its citrus industry inevitably takes a hit, and this deep freeze comes on top of years of damage from greening disease and repeated blows from tropical cyclones that have already decimated the crop.
"There was significant damage to the remaining oranges to be picked in central Florida," said Jim Roemer, a meteorologist who publishes the WeatherWealth newsletter, quoted by Bloomberg.
Roemer added, "Many key areas were well below 28 degrees for over four hours between Sunday and this morning."

Fin whale found dead on Oregon beach
A 46-foot-long fin whale washed ashore in Clatsop County on the Oregon coast Saturday morning.
Officials from the Seaside Aquarium said the whale had already been dead for some time before washing up on the beach.
Fin whales are one of the largest whale species in the world, known for their incredibly long and slender bodies.
Aquarium officials said that only the blue whale — the largest mammal on earth — is bigger.

COVID Shots Increase the Risk of a Leading Cause of Maternal and Fetal Death by 24%
A newly published CDC registry study using data from the CDC's COVID-19 Vaccine Pregnancy Registry (C19VPR) and the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) compared approximately 8,000 vaccinated pregnant women to 8,000 unvaccinated pregnant women and found a 24% higher relative risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (15% vs. 12%) among those who received COVID-19 shots.
These disorders — which include gestational hypertension and preeclampsia — are a leading cause of maternal and fetal death worldwide.
The association was statistically significant, persisted in sensitivity analyses, and remained after adjustment for multiple confounders.

Newsom's "Train to Nowhere": Californians burn billions for political boondoogle
In the dystopian novel 1984, George Orwell wrote, "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.
It was their final, most essential command." The true meaning of that line was never more clear than watching the truly bizarre photo op of California governor Gavin Newsom heralding the success of the greatest boondoggle in history: his high-speed train to nowhere.
Without laying a single yard of track after burning $12 billion, Newsom showed a diesel freight train on a conventional track to create the appearance of a working railroad.
I have been writing about this boondoggle for years.

🇨🇳China's robotics industry pivots from 'body' to 'brain' as commercial race heats up
Dobot claims its self-developed vision-language-action model lets humanoid robots react to the real world rather than just perform preprogrammed tasks Chinese humanoid robotics companies are doubling down on developing intelligent models, as investors eye advances in robot "brains" as the next step towards real-world commercial use.
Shenzhen-based Dobot said on Wednesday that it delivered its third batch of mass produced, full-size humanoid Atom robots, marking a shift from laboratory concept to an industrialised product.
Dobot, listed in Hong Kong, said its self-developed Dobot-VLA, a vision-language-action model, enabled Atom to react to uncertainties in the real world rather than just perform preprogrammed tasks.

The shootings have ignited a renewed wave of protests against the ongoing immigration crackdown.
In an interview with NBC News published on Thursday, Trump was asked what he had learned from the events in Minnesota.
"Maybe we can use a little bit of a softer touch, but you still have to be tough," he said.

🇪🇸Spain's far-left government threatens to "limit and likely BAN" X
Spain's Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego, has declared that the far-left government under Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez intends to "limit and likely ban" the use of X across the entire country, marking yet another assault on free speech by European regimes desperate to control narratives.
This revelation, captured in a video statement by Rego, underscores a broader pattern of censorship under the guise of protecting minors, even as platforms like Snapchat remain untouched despite their documented role in child grooming scandals.
In the clip, Rego states: "La ministra Sira Rego afirma que el siguiente paso del Gobierno será "limitar y seguramente prohibir" el uso de X a todos los españoles." Translated, this means the minister affirms that the next step of the Government will be to "limit and surely prohibit" the use of X to all Spaniards.

🇸🇾Trump knifes the Kurds in Syria in the back. And now?
Relationships in the Middle East are hard to define and even when they work are often ephemeral and seldom last the course.
Recently we have seen the smoke and mirrors of how the west operates in Syria with the downfall of Assad followed swiftly by the installation of the most brutal terrorist to emerge from Iraq or Syria since Baghdad fell to U.S. forces in 2003: Ahmed Al-Sharaa, whose ISIS splinter group Al Nusra was marked by its unique level of depravity and brutality against western hostages, some of whom were burned alive - all filmed and placed on social media for maximum impact.

🇮🇷Trump is not threatening war on Iran over its nuclear program, but because it challenges U.S. dominance
The U.S. is once again threatening a war on Iran that could devastate the region.
Trump knows Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, but that has never been the point.
It is about removing Iran as the only actor in the region beyond U.S. control.
American and Iranian negotiators are meeting in Muscat to see if they can come to an agreement and avoid an American attack on Iran.

Why America's two-party system will never threaten the true political elites
Whenever a new US president is sworn in, media pundits and court historians gush about the supposed "peaceful transfer of power" that is taking place.
This has become a key tenet of the mythology and ideology surrounding democracy — that governing elites willfully abandon their control over the machinery of the state in response to election outcomes.
Indeed, this narrative about democracy is absolutely foundational to the perceived legitimacy of democracy.
The contention that elections lead to a "peaceful transfer of power" reinforces the idea that the governing elites are determined by elections, and therefore by the "will of the people." If "we the people" vote for a new group of rulers, then the old leaders will step aside a new group will take over.

SOTT FOCUS: NewsReal: What People Don't Understand About The Epstein Files
The Epstein Files, however redacted, selective, and incomplete they are, are sufficiently damning for all 'with eyes to see' to understand - properly, and, really, for the first time - that we are indeed lorded over by corrupt, knuckle-dragging, deranged 'elites'. As online sleuths connect dots, solve cold cases, and shine a light on the worst crimes committed by Epstein and company, the glaring 'elephant in the room' remains the near-total inactivity by Western governments to actually do any of this investigative legwork themselves.
Why don't they?
Well, because Epstein "belongs to intelligence," which means he did what he did FOR a strategic, long-term purpose.

British establishment's blind panic
The Trump administration may be gunning for a total takedown of the pathogenic British establishment.
UK's color revolution playbook may be coming home to roost.
As I discussed it in last week's TrendCompass report, the recent release of Epstein files caused quite a panic in the ranks of UK's political establishment, prompting the Prince of Darkness, Lord Peter Mandelson to resign from the Labour Party and from the House of Lords.
Lies on top lies and sign language Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer faced the public and offered a profuse apology to Epstein's victims: I am sorry.
