In addition to the Moon, there are six other asteroids that accompany the Earth as it orbits the Sun. One of these asteroids, Cruithne, is over 5 kilometers in diameter and is located approximately 15 million kilometers away from the Earth. Therefore, it can be argued that the Earth has six moons rather than just one.

🚀 25 years of life in orbit.

On November 2, 2000, the first crew arrived at the ISS: William Shepherd (NASA), Yuri Gidzenko, and Sergei Krikalev (Roscosmos). Since then, the station has become a permanent home for people in space.

Over the past quarter century, it has been visited by 288 people from more than 20 countries, and the project involves five international partners. Today, multinational crews continue to work on board, conducting experiments that help on Earth and prepare us for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

In November, the ISS will celebrate 25 years of continuous human presence in orbit, a symbol of collaboration and our shared journey to the stars.

🚀 Voyagers at the edge of the Solar System.

As of July 2025:
— Voyager 1 is 25 billion kilometers away from Earth (167 AU), and its signal takes almost 23 hours to reach us.
— Voyager 2 is 20.9 billion kilometers away (139 AU), and its signal takes 19 hours and 20 minutes to reach Earth.

Both spacecraft have already crossed the solar wind boundary and are traveling through interstellar space: Voyager 1 is traveling at a speed of 17 km/s, while Voyager 2 is traveling at a speed of 15 km/s. Despite the gradual shutdown of their instruments, they continue to transmit data, providing us with a rare glimpse of the boundary where the Solar System meets space.

🪐 A new world beyond Pluto: Ammonite has been discovered.

Japanese astronomers have found a rare object at the edge of the Solar System — an icy body (2023 KQ14) nicknamed "Ammonite".

Its orbit is extremely elongated:
— closest to the Sun — 71 AU (71 times further than Earth),
— farthest — 252 AU.

The size is up to 380 km, which is 45 times higher than Mount Everest. This is only the fourth known sednoid, a class of objects whose strange orbits may indicate the existence of the mysterious Planet Nine.

👍 The first human step on the Moon.

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong took the first step on the surface of the Moon, exiting the Lunar Module Eagle. This moment became a symbol of human courage and the beginning of a new era of space exploration.

🌛 The next giant leap is toward the South Pole of the Moon. Unlike the Apollo missions, which explored areas near the equator, the Artemis program will send humans to the Moon's South Pole for the first time in history. The photo taken by NASA's orbital spacecraft on March 3, 2023, shows the Malapert Massif — a mountain over 5 km high. It is here that humanity will begin a new chapter in lunar exploration, establishing a base for future flights to Mars and beyond.

NASA telescopes have found traces of a rare intermediate black hole.

NGC 6099 HLX-1 is a bright X—ray source hiding in a compact star cluster on the outskirts of a giant elliptical galaxy 450 million light-years away.

— The Chandra telescope has detected powerful X-ray bursts.
— And Hubble showed the neighborhood where a black hole is tearing apart a star.

Thanks to the collaboration of the telescopes, we are one step closer to unraveling how black holes grow and evolve.

The Ptolemaic Universe 🪐

In ancient Greece, they knew about the existence of planets and other stars. But it was believed that they all revolve around the Earth. This is what the Solar System looked like in Ptolemy's mind. This model was abandoned only in the 16th century. The Ptolemaic Universe 🪐
