I am not good at addressing people like this, and in fact have never done so before.
But I think this time too much is at stake that any of us should remain silent.

I am a citizen of Ukraine, and at February 24 I woke up to the sound of explosions. The sheer terror of it was impossible. I really, really couldn’t in my right mind believe that what was happening, happened.

Later that day, I’ve heard my President addressing the people. “Our country is strong”, he said, “and it will fight”.
I should be strong, too, I thought. I should also fight - in any way I can.
But I’m no fighter, no soldier, and, sadly, no hero. The mere thought of all this violence is enough to make me shiver.
And so I choose to speak to you.

Yes, my country is strong, and we stand, unbowed, and we fight on. But even the strong can be brought low.

It took a war for me to realize that this country is also beautiful, with all our bloodied history and our perseverance, and that I care for it deeply.
I don’t want to loose it.

So, I ask for help
There should be a way to stop this.
I know there are forces for good in this world, and it is to them I address this message.
