A new wave of Web3 campaigns is flooding Twitter with influencer dashboards 📊

It all points back to a startup that is trying to reshape attention economics in crypto

🐻 Kaito AI started as a crypto-native search engine using LLMs to parse on-chain data, social channels (X, Discord, Telegram), and research

Founded by ex-Citadel trader Yu Hu, it raised over $10M from Dragonfly, Sequoia China, and Jane Street. By late 2023, Kaito introduced a social layer: campaigns that reward users for posting about projects

The idea was simple: instead of paying influencers privately, let's launch a live dashboard for KOL performance. This became known as the Yap-to-Earn model

Projects like Berachain, Movement, and Story Protocol have since run “Yap campaigns” through Kaito, with the idea to decentralize marketing budgets, make exposure measurable, and produce large volumes of micro-participants

Sounds promising. But what happens in practice? 👇

At first glance, the metrics look impressive:
Thousands of tweets, charts going up, engagement all over the feed. But leaderboard profiles tell a different story: top spots often belong to obvious bot farms, mass-posting generic content to maximize rewards 🤖

💀 MEMENTO MORI - money laundering or a new standard for meme tokens?

Let’s break down how one of the largest Russian darknet markets launched its token, and why $MORI still holds a $20M cap despite no clear utility.

📚 Long story short:

On August 10, 2022, a YouTube channel called M O R I A R T Y appeared. In the first video, a masked individual claimed to be the founder of MEGA, a darknet marketplace that emerged after HYDRA (the previous leading one) was shut down.

In the following videos, he presented insider facts about MEGA’s operations and effectively promoted the marketplace, aiming to claim the space left by HYDRA as the country’s new drug monopoly. But where is YouTube moderation in all this? 🤔

Despite this, the YouTube channel was not banned, unlike X coin page. Videos remained monetized and consistently generated views and revenue. This suggests a well-planned strategy behind the channel, with clear awareness of platform policy boundaries.

📈 In addition to social channels' growth, the author began shaping narratives:

- engaging in public disputes
- attacking government officials
- creating viral content designed to spread specific behavior models and substance trends

After months of building media influence and normalizing MEGA, the author took the next step:

On June 4, 2025, he announced $MORI token on Solana, that occurred during a stagnant market phase, but the launch generated $20M MCap within a few days of release. The project’s Telegram community grew rapidly with over 500,000 members & more than 30,000 users actively participate in promoting the token across social platforms through memes, videos, edits, and comment farming.

Engagement appears organic, but there are strong indications that liquidity and incentive funding may originate from fiat revenues connected to MEGA’s operations. This raises concerns about the real source of growth 🫡

Despite the growing community and stable chart, there’s no clear indication of external demand. The price activity suggests internal support mechanisms, rather than real market traction. On-chain data shows no wallet holds more than 2% of the token supply. However, price levels are being maintained within a narrow band, suggesting the involvement of a professional market maker controlling volatility and ensuring price support.

There is no stated utility for the token beyond community engagement

❗️ No staking, no protocol, no product roadmap

There are no plans to create infrastructure or L2, and the token does not enable any feature beyond social visibility. Just like many meme tokens with a $100M+ cap, $MORI likely uses funds earned from product sales and fiat-to-crypto conversion on its marketplace to support price, create fake demand, and move dirty money through the crypto market

🚓 But why does Moriarty remain free?

The author claims that profits from MEGA and related campaigns are used for funding social infrastructure, such as schools, medical facilities, and scientific research. He positions this as an ideological mission, not just a business. Despite making open declarations about running a criminal operation, the author remains anonymous and untouched. There are widespread assumptions that some level of government protection or cooperation is involved

❓ The core issue is structural:

While legitimate crypto projects struggle to raise even $1M, a darknet operation can generate $100M+ in capital, and none of it raises questions from platforms or regulators, despite the project’s open ties to criminal activity. Until the crypto industry begins to separate capital legitimacy from narrative traction, projects like $MORI will continue to thrive, regardless of their origin or intentions
