Спустя более двух лет после выхода GRUB 2.12 опубликован выпуск GRUB 2.14. GRUB — широко используемый загрузчик для ОС Linux и других систем.

В GRUB 2.14 добавлена поддержка файловой системы EROFS (оптимизированная для производительности файловая система, доступная только для чтения), заявлено об улучшенной поддержке LVM, поддержке NX (No-eXecute bit) для платформ EFI, протокола загрузчика shim, поддержке Argon2 KDF, поддержке дат после 2038 года, поддержке декомпрессии Zstdio, улучшениях EFI и многом другом. GRUB 2.14 — это масштабный релиз, включающий в себя улучшения, накопленные за более чем два года.

plocate 1.1.24

13 января, после более годового перерыва, состоялся выпуск 1.1.24 набора консольных утилит plocate для поиска файлов, полностью заменяющих locate(1) гораздо более быстрым и компактным индексом.
plocate работает путём создания инвертированного индекса из триграмм (комбинаций из трёх байтов) поисковых строк, что позволяет быстро сузить набор кандидатов до очень небольшого списка, вместо линейного сканирования каждой записи. Утилита выполняет почти все операции ввода-вывода асинхронно, используя API io_uring, если он доступен (Linux 5.1+), что снижает влияние задержки поиска в системах без SSD. Как и mlocate и slocate, возвращаемый набор файлов зависит от прав пользователя, то есть, пользователь увидит файл только в том случае, если find(1) его отображает (все каталоги из корня имеют права +rx).

Выпуск дистрибутива Tails 7.4

Представлен релиз специализированного дистрибутива Tails 7.4 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), развиваемого в составе проекта Tor. Дистрибутив основан на пакетной базе Debian 13, поставляется с рабочим столом GNOME 48 и предназначен для анонимного выхода в сеть при помощи инструментария Tor. Все соединения, кроме трафика через сеть Tor, по умолчанию блокируются пакетным фильтром. При сохранении пользовательских данных между запусками применяется шифрование. Для загрузки подготовлен iso-образ, способный работать в Live-режиме, размером 2 ГБ.

В Debian 14 намерены прекратить поставку GTK2

Разработчики проекта GTK прекратили сопровождение GTK2 более пяти лет назад и сопровождение заброшенного GTK2 в основном репозитории становится проблематичным. Gentoo будет по умолчанию ставить PipeWire на десктопах

До недавнего времени в Gentoo звуковая подсистема по умолчанию не указывалась. Если пользователь ничего не менял при установке с нуля, звук в Firefox, например, отсутствовал.
С 15.01.2026 в десктопных профилях по умолчанию включаются флаги USE="pipewire pulseaudio screencast". С этими флагами на большинстве архитектур программы будут собираться с поддержкой API PulseAudio и выводить звук через PipeWire. На Alpha и HPPA PipeWire нет, поэтому там будет использоваться PulseAudio.
Кроме того, флаг screencast включает возможность захвата экрана и удалённого десктопа через PipeWire. В Wayland через него же делаются скриншоты и иконки/превью окон.
По-прежнему, ничего не мешает установить USE="-pipewire -pulseaudio -screencast" и продолжать пользоваться ALSA.

В OpenBSD реализована поддержка запуска под управлением Apple Hypervisor

В кодовую базу OpenBSD-current, на основе которой весной будет выпущен релиз OpenBSD 7.9, добавлены изменения для поддержки работы в качестве гостевой системы в системах виртуализации на базе Apple Hypervisor. Сборки OpenBSD для архитектуры arm64 могут использоваться в виртуальных машинах в macOS на оборудовании с ARM-чипами Apple Silicon. Внесённые изменения связаны с обеспечением в viogpu синхронизации передачи содержимого фреймбуфера хост-системе и добавлении в vio возможности получения информации об MTU от гипервизора.
