The U.S. Government has indicted two Russian nationals who stand accused of operating the ebook piracy site Z-Library. Anton Napolsky and Valeriia Ermakova were arrested in Argentina earlier this month and the U.S. plans to prosecute the pair for criminal copyright infringement, wire fraud and money laundering.

A cashless society would be the nail in the coffin for liberty and freedom, offering centralization, the likes of which Marx could only dream.

The existence of a government backdoor or spyware becomes a real possibility, and given the State’s track record, a real likelihood. Then, of course, the ability to track, freeze, and even set expiry dates on money, will be marketed as “features” to protect the public.

As for the 5.9 million Americans considered “unbanked,” i.e., those who have no checking or savings accounts, (the poor, weak, and vulnerable) they can expect life to get more difficult. This is the price we pay for free market intervention.

Earlier in the week, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York made the announcement.

Some of the largest financial institutions are involved in this 12-week program:

BNY Mellon, Citi, HSBC, Mastercard, PNC Bank, TD Bank, Truist, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo.

Plus:

The technology is being provided by SETL with Digital Asset, powered by Amazon Web Services. Swift, the global financial messaging service provider, is also participating in the initiative to support interoperability across the international financial ecosystem.

We know for certain CBDCs are coming, as well as more regulation. And given the trajectory of both, a cashless society is too. What is less certain is whether or not Sam Bankman-Fried, for his culpability in what may amount to one of the largest thefts of all time, will ever see jail time.

The FBI recently revealed that two Russian nationals, Anton Napolsky and Valeriia Ermakova, have been charged with criminal copyright infringement, wire fraud and money laundering for operating Z-Library, an online archive of thousands of pirated books.

Following the seizing of Z-Library numerous alternatives appeared, including ZLibrary.To and Anna's Archive.

“Anna”, who was one of the driving forces behind the Pirate Library, decided to release her own site, simply called “Anna’s Archive“.

Anna’s Archive is a meta-search engine that can find content from third-party ‘pirate’ sources. This includes direct downloads through Library Genesis forks and Z-Library.

The idea behind solar geoengineering is essentially to mimic what happens when volcanoes push particles into the atmosphere; a large eruption, such as that of Mt. Pinatubo, in the Philippines, in 1992, can measurably cool the world for a year or two.

This scheme, not surprisingly, has few public advocates, and even among those who want to see it studied the inference has been that it would not actually be implemented for decades.

Others, around the world, however, are working to speed up that timeline. There are at least three initiatives under way that are studying the potential implementation of solar-radiation management, or S.R.M., as it is sometimes called: a commission under the auspices of the Paris Peace Forum, composed of fifteen current and former global leaders and some environmental and governance experts, that is exploring “policy options” to combat climate change and how these policies might be monitored; a Carnegie Council initiative of how the United Nations might govern geoengineering; and Degrees Initiative, an academic effort based in the United Kingdom and funded by a collection of foundations, that in turn funds research on the effects of such a scheme across the developing world. The result of these initiatives, if not the goal, may be to normalize the idea of geoengineering.

It would take only a tiny fraction of that effort to inject aerosol particles into the stratosphere. (Sulphur dioxide is the most commonly discussed candidate, but aluminum, calcium carbonate, and, most poetically, diamond dust, have also been proposed.) A recent article in the Harvard Environmental Law Review estimates that the “direct costs of deployment—collecting the precursor materials for aerosols, putting them into the sky, monitoring, and so on—would be . . . as low as several billion dollars a year.”

Any country with a serious air force could probably release sulphur from planes in the upper atmosphere. You might not even need a country: it would cost Elon Musk, currently the world’s richest man, far less to fund such a mission than it did to buy Twitter—and he’s already got the rockets.

Privacy researchers known as Mysk continue their crusade and catch Apple in another lie. This time they've found an ID called 'dsId' or 'Directory Services Identifier', which uniquely identifies your iCloud account.

Apple's Device Analytics & Privacy Statement on iOS device analytics reads "None of the collected information identifies you personally."

This DSID is now confirmed to be the same ID that is sent along with App Store Analytics, which tracks every interaction you make with the App Store. This tracking cannot be turned off.

Musk's Free Speech Moves On Twitter Have So Far Been Unimpressive

When Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter was first announced this past April I said that the purchase likely wouldn't go through if the empire thought it posed a threat to its information interests. I said that any reduction of censorship protocols which Musk implements on the platform would probably not be of the sort that make any difference to the powerful, but would instead just amplify vapid partisan culture war nonsense.

So far since Musk's takeover, this does appear to be the case.

In recent days Twitter has reinstated the accounts of Donald Trump, Kanye West, Jordan Peterson, Project Veritas, Kathy Griffin, and the Babylon Bee. This to date is as close as Musk has come to honoring his stated intention of making Twitter a haven of free speech where people have a "digital town square" to debate and discuss ideas.

And it's not enough. Un-banning a few famous people will drum up a lot of headlines and online chatter and make it look like you're really doing something, but in the end all you've done is reinstate a handful of Twitter accounts. You haven't done anything to meaningfully scale back the speech restrictions on your platform.

I can already hear the Elon simps falling all over themselves in a mad rush to tell me it's only been a few weeks and I need to give Daddy more time, but they can go lick a Tesla battery. Nobody gains anything by giving the billionaire the benefit of the doubt and refraining from pointing out that he hasn't done nearly enough at this point. The time to start criticizing and pushing is right now.

Twitter is currently full of discussions about which famous people Musk should un-ban next, but they're completely missing the point. Reinstating a handful of celebrities has no meaningful effect on the free expression of normal people.

I don't care that I can see tweets from Trump and Kanye again; I care that people are still banned from the platform for questioning western allegations of Russian war crimes and voicing unauthorized opinions about the war in Ukraine. I care that people are still banned for questioning vaccines and Covid policies which affect everyone. I care that media from governments the US doesn't like are censored and suppressed while its reporters are made to carry "state-affiliated media" labels that media personnel from US-aligned states don't have. I care that mass purges of accounts are virtually always directed at people from US-targeted nations.

Free speech is important first and foremost not because it feels nice to be able to say whatever you want, but because being able to freely criticize the powerful puts an important check on power. Letting celebrities say whatever they want about trans people or what have you is of the "feels nice to say whatever I want" variety. We're not seeing any increase in the freedoms of speech which put a check on power.

In fact, we're seeing Musk pledge to use shadowbanning to algorithmically censor tweets with unauthorized speech.

Musk never clarified what he means by "negative" tweets; it's as vague and subjective a definition as anyone could possibly come up with, which will surely result in abuses and overreach unless clarified.

"Freedom of speech but not freedom of reach" is the same dumbass slogan that's been used by proponents of internet censorship for a long time. It basically means that you can say whatever you want, but if it's not approved speech then no one will ever hear it. Which of course isn't free speech at all. It's like saying "You have free speech! You can say whatever you want, as long as you say it alone in a soundproof room."

Shiba Inu Developer Says WEF Wants to Work With Project to ‘Help Shape’ Metaverse Global Policy

The volunteer project lead and developer for Shiba Inu known only as Shytoshi Kusama has reported on social media that the World Economic Forum, or WEF, wants to work with the meme-based cryptocurrency on global policy.

In a poll posted to Twitter on Nov. 22, Kusama said the WEF had “kindly invited” the Shiba Inu project to collaborate on “MV global policy.” The Shiba Inu developer seemed to be referring to policy on the metaverse. Crypto and blockchain have sometimes been under discussion at WEF events, but partnering with a popular meme token would seemingly be a first for the organization.

“Yes I am serious,” said Kusama. “We would be at the table with policy makers and would help shape global policy for the MV alongside other giants like FB (bye Zuck), Sand, Decentraland etc.”

At the time of publication, more than 65% of the roughly 9,500 respondents to Kusama’s poll voted in favor of Shiba Inu working with the WEF, with roughly 10% saying it didn’t matter one way or the other. Kusama has more than 861,000 Twitter followers.

Between Derrick, Ramiro, several volunteers, and I, it’s A LOT of work to put on the Greater Reset.

I do events in my own business, Live Free Academy, on a monthly basis. Online events, in-person events, and hybrid online and in-person events.

They’re all challenging.

But the most difficult is when we have a hybrid event that’s broadcasted from two different locations.

The Greater Reset is broadcast from Mexico AND Texas.

Technically speaking, it’s quite the challenge.

However…

We’ve been able to pull it off every year with only minor hiccups here and there..

And it’s no secret why…

The community of supportive people behind the scenes makes this whole thing work.

On top of that, the stories we’ve heard from attendees about their triumphs, how we’ve changed their lives, how they were trapped in a dark place and almost gave up but kept pushing because of the Greater Reset has pushed us to achieve incredible feats.

We would not nor could not do our work without YOU.

PayPal, Venmo, and Other Cash Apps Will Now Report Your Income To the IRS

'The American Rescue Plan Act' became law this year and set a new reporting threshold for payments made in third-party networks, like PayPal & Venmo. This threshold used to be more than 200 transactions worth over $20,000 but now a new form 1099-K can be automatically triggered if you ever received more than $600 in a single transaction.

PayPal released this statement:

The 1099-K change took effect January 1, 2022. PayPal and Venmo will be required to provide customers with a 1099-K form if they receive $600 or more in goods and services transactions during the 2022 tax year.
...

You may notice that in the coming months we will ask you for your tax information, like a Social Security Number or Tax ID, if you haven’t provided it to us already, in order to continue using your account to accept payments for the sale of goods and services transactions and to ensure there aren't any issues as these changes take effect in 2022. ... The IRS will be able to cross-reference both our report and yours.
