🧬 Anthrogen unveils Odyssey, the most powerful AI for protein design

San Francisco–based Anthrogen has introduced Odyssey, a large language model built specifically for bioengineering and protein editing. The company calls it the most advanced and efficient system of its kind.

🔸 Odyssey can interpret amino acid sequences, 3D structures, and protein functions, then design new molecules that meet set goals such as “binds to this receptor” or “scalable for production.”
🔸 It uses discrete diffusion, a training method inspired by evolution that introduces mutations and keeps only the best-performing results.
🔸 Anthrogen reports that Odyssey achieves superior protein design outcomes using 10× less data than competing models.

From drug discovery to synthetic biology, Odyssey could redefine how we engineer life itself.

🧬 Google’s Gemma model helps uncover a new cancer therapy pathway

Google researchers have used their Gemma-based C2S-Scale 27B model to identify a potential new treatment strategy that could make “cold” tumors visible to the immune system, a key goal in modern cancer therapy.

🔸 The 27-billion-parameter model was trained on single-cell data, learning to interpret the “language” of individual cells and predict immune responses.
🔸 It discovered that Silmitasertib (CX-4945), when combined with low-dose interferon, boosts antigen presentation (MHC-I) by ~50% but only in immune-responsive contexts, a previously unreported finding.
🔸 Lab tests confirmed the model’s prediction, showing that the combo made otherwise “silent” cancer cells detectable by the immune system.

By turning AI-generated hypotheses into lab-validated biology, Google’s Gemma models may mark a new era for data-driven drug discovery.

🎮 General Intuition trains AI through gaming motion, not text

General Intuition is building a new path to AGI by teaching AI to understand the world through movement and interaction, using real video game clips rather than text or simulations.

🔸 They leverage 2 billion gaming clips per year (from platforms like Medal and user-generated content) to train AI agents in spatiotemporal logic, learning how objects move, interact, and respond.
🔸 Agents only see what the player sees and act through a controller, making them capable of adapting to new environments, from games to real-world drones.
🔸 Unlike generative models, the focus is action-oriented, creating smarter NPCs, adaptive bots, and AI that understands spatial dynamics.
🔸 The startup raised $133.7M in seed funding from Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, and others after an attempted $500M acquisition by OpenAI fell through.

General Intuition illustrates a key insight: true AGI may require understanding space, motion, and interaction, not just text.

⚙️ Ex-Neuralink president revives “artificial vision” tech that restores sight

Science Corporation, founded by former Neuralink president Max Hodak, has quietly outpaced its old rival, by buying for just €4M a nearly forgotten French technology that already helps blind patients read books and solve puzzles.

🔸 The technology, called PRIMA, is a microchip implanted under the retina. It receives signals from a camera in special glasses and converts them into electrical impulses that bypass damaged photoreceptors, restoring partial vision to people with age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in the elderly.
🔸 In a New England Journal of Medicine study, 38 patients improved by an average of five lines on a standard eye chart. One British patient can now read a normal book, a historic first.
🔸 The implant works like a mini solar panel: infrared light from the glasses activates tiny pixels on the chip. Current models deliver 400 visual points; the next version will increase this fivefold, enabling recognition of faces and objects.

Hodak’s team is now redesigning the external unit, replacing bulky laser goggles with sleek sunglasses-style frames. Science Corp has raised $290M since 2021 and focuses on neurointerfaces and vision restoration, the inverse of Neuralink’s “brain-to-machine” approach.

If approved in Europe, PRIMA could become the first commercially available, clinically proven artificial vision system, turning science fiction into ophthalmology.

🧩 Google AI Studio now builds full web app prototypes

Google has updated AI Studio with a new feature that lets users generate and launch working web app prototypes directly from text prompts.

🔸 Users can choose which models to power their app, including Gemini Nano, Banana, Veo 3, or Google’s voice models.
🔸 After selecting, you can describe your idea or hit “I’m feeling lucky” to let Google generate a random concept.
🔸 Gemini 2.5 Pro then writes the code, deploys a working prototype, and allows real-time editing and testing in the same workspace.

Google’s turning AI Studio into a no-code product engine, blurring the line between prompting and full-stack development.

👓 Amazon tests smart glasses for delivery drivers

Amazon is piloting AR-powered smart glasses designed to help couriers deliver packages without ever checking their phones.

🔸 When a driver reaches a destination, the glasses automatically activate, display order details, and guide them to the correct package in the trunk.
🔸 The system then maps the route to the customer’s door and marks the order as delivered, all hands-free.
🔸 The pilot includes a small group of couriers, with Amazon planning to add more features before wider rollout.

If successful, these glasses could become the next big leap in logistics UX, turning last-mile delivery into an augmented, automated workflow.

🌐 OpenAI launches Atlas, a browser that does things for you

OpenAI has introduced Atlas Browser, a Chromium-based browser with a built-in ChatGPT agent that can actually perform tasks on websites, not just summarize them.

🔸 Available for macOS, Atlas looks familiar but acts differently: the integrated ChatGPT can navigate pages, fill forms, make bookings, compare products, and even complete purchases.
🔸 In testing, the browser handled multi-step tasks like booking a tutor and finding delivery options autonomously, cutting manual effort to nearly zero.
🔸 The release joins a wave of “AI-native” browsers like Arc, Comet, and Dia, all rethinking how users interact with the web. Atlas’ edge is its deep task automation powered by OpenAI agents.
🔸 For now, it’s invite-only and limited to macOS, but integration with ChatGPT’s ecosystem hints at broader device and workflow expansion soon.

With Atlas, OpenAI isn’t just challenging Chrome, it’s testing whether the future of browsing is doing, not searching.

💦 Sizable Energy builds underwater “batteries” for renewables

Swiss startup Sizable Energy is developing a novel energy storage system that operates entirely under the sea, using dense seawater as the working medium instead of lithium or land-based reservoirs. The company recently raised $8 million to build its first pilot off the coast of Italy.

🔸 The system pumps saturated seawater (20% denser than normal) between floating and deep-water reservoirs, storing potential energy based on pressure and height difference.
🔸 When power is needed, the brine flows back through a turbine to generate electricity, much like pumped hydro, but offshore.
🔸 It can operate at depths up to 500 meters, uses existing marine infrastructure, and doesn’t consume land or scarce metals.
🔸 Early lab tests are complete, with the pilot project aiming to validate scalability and cost targets.

Sizable Energy claims its system delivers the lowest levelized cost of storage (LCOS) among mechanical energy peers, hinting that the future of clean energy might not be on land, but beneath the waves.
