Launching a Startup on Campus

AAiT/CTBE Innovation Center

Established in September 2024, this center serves as your gateway to innovation alongside formal education. Currently formal registration isn't open but if there's anyone with innovative idea which you believe you can dedicate your time in and which can be changed to startup later on and also if you have already done the research phase and have clear view of the project you can get the chance to present your ideas to the Center heads, there is a chance the can accept to make it part of the center, if they believe in your idea and how to make it to reality and business plan.

AAU Startup Center

Currently application is closed and i will share when they open for second round. If you already have MVP of your project this is great opportunity to be part of the center. You will get access to Comprehensive Workspace, Expert Mentorship, Seed Funding Access.

Innobiz-K Ethiopia

It's a center in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within Ethiopia's startup ecosystem, managed jointly by MiNT and KOICA.

They have three programs:

Idea Competition Program
Transform innovative ideas into viable ventures through short-term incubation with immersive workshops and five-day training sessions.

Accelerated Growth Program
Tailored for post-startup enterprises, fostering expansion and employment opportunities with intensive consulting and funding support.

Incubation Program
Four-month comprehensive support including capacity building, mentorship, coaching, and funding to develop MVPs and ensure sustainable growth.

The above three are centers supporting innovation and startup based in Ethiopia and below here it's an opportunity from Rwanda which is quite interesting.

Jasiri Talent Investor Programme

The Jasiri Talent Investor Programme offers a unique 13-month approach focused on identifying individuals with exceptional potential as co-founders rather than existing businesses.

They offer two programs:

Talent Investor Programme
13-month fully funded program connecting ambitious individuals with co-founders and providing optimal environment for venture formation.

Growth Accelerator
Comprehensive support for existing businesses with substantial growth potential, preparing them for investment with $75,000 funding.

The best part of this opportunity is you are not expected to have startup idea when u go there they will give u fully funded opportunity to learn and research about entrepreneurship and startups and it will help u get your co-founder through the program and you can start ur startup at either of the three countries(Ethiopia, Rwanda Kenya) with the seed money.

Registration is closed currently but they will open another registration this year so follow up on it and you can apply.

Notice: This opportunity is for Graduated students so if you are at school this is not allowed to apply since it needs you to be in Rwanda for 12 months.

By the way, don’t be too hard on yourself. You might not have secured a remote job or landed that big opportunity yet, but think about how far you’ve come to reach your current stage — it’s no small thing. For me, the steps I’ve taken matter more than anything else. And honestly, they’ve already paid off in many ways. What truly matters now is to keep making continuous improvements.

So the week pass by in a blink of an eye...😅

This week can't say much but as we all know there were lot of hackathons so I was part of one of the hackathons, NASA App Challenge, so we didn't get results yet but was really great experience for me.

I had a fireside chat last night at stanford. And I was just thinking how wild it is that a st.mary extenstion dropout is doing a speech at stanford ;)

It's truly inspiring; it shows what someone can achieve when they have a clear vision and dedicate time and effort to their big dreams.

I remember something he mentioned at the GDG opening event in September 2024, he encouraged us to pursuing bold ideas and putting in the hard work to bring them to life, He certainly proved that within just a year, really inspiring!🫡

I feel like Peter Shor is the reason why most people got their first exposure to qc. The algorithm that has a potential to breaking RSA encryption was made by him.
