The Nothing Phone (2) will be launching later this year, 2023 with the US market being top priority
Carl Pei teased that the Phone (2) will be more premium than its predecessor and that software will be a big focus area for Nothing.
He also said that: "I want to avoid calling the Phone (2) a flagship because that would mean that the Phone (1) was not a flagship"
Nothing did almost 10x the revenue last year [in 2022 globally] compared to [2021]. The company also got doubled in size growing from 200 people in 2021 to 400 in 2022

Twitter has begun applying for regulatory licences across the US and designing the software required to introduce payments across Twitter.
Elon Musk said that he wants Twitter to offer fintech services such as peer-to-peer transactions, savings accounts and debit cards, as part of a master plan to launch an “everything app” that incorporates messaging, payments and commerce.
Musk’s vision goes far beyond that, including exploring more ways for users to reward creators directly, to buy items directly, to pay one another through the platform
As part of monitoring for fraud and suspicious transactions, user accounts have to be directly linked to a user’s identity.
The company has plans to add support for cryptocurrencies in the future.

Apex Legends Mobile was released back in May, after about 9 months, Respawn and EA Sports have announced that it is shutting down the game.
It will disable all real money in-app purchases in the game, and remove the game from Google Play and Apple App Store starting today and On May 1st, 2023, ( exactly 1 year after game was released) it will cease operations in all regions, and the game will no longer be playable.
During this 3-month period, players can spend their existing Syndicate Gold and continue playing the full game.
The company said that it will NOT be providing refunds for real money purchases like their battle pass, as per the terms of the EA User Agreement.

6 months ago, Bloomberg reported that Meta's dual camera smartwatch project has been halted, but it seems to be back in development now. The watch has been in development for 3 years.
Features:
• A removable watch face with a gold-colored casing
• Powered by a Snapdragon SoC
• A custom version of Android and no app store (not Wear OS)
• Dual cameras: A 5 MP front camera and a 12 MP camera on the back
• WiFi, GPS, 4G/5G via eSIM.
• Notification center and Apps for Spotify, WhatsApp, Instagram Stories, daily activity tracking, workouts, the photo gallery, heart rate monitoring, calendar, settings, and breathing.

George Hayward, a Data Scientist in Facebook claims that Facebook & Messenger apps can deliberately drain the batteries of both iPhones and Android.
The practice, known as “negative testing,” allows tech companies to “surreptitiously” run down someone’s mobile juice in the name of testing features or issues such as how fast their app runs or how an image might load.
He complained about thid to his manager, saying, "this could harm somebody."
However, not only did the manager ignore his concerns, she urged him to carry on, saying that "by harming a few, we can help the greater masses."
He was fired in November for refusing to participate in negative testing because of the risk posed by draining smartphone battery including those of police men, rescue workers and others when they might potentially need it for things like 911 calls, Crash Detection, and Fall Detection.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1 announced the reduction in the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) rate, other than textile & agriculture, from 21% to 13%.
Not only this, BCD rate on camera lens and its inputs/parts, used in manufacturing of camera modules of smartphones is reduced to 0% from existing 2.5%.
