iPhone 15 series Production Started in India

Apple supplier Foxconn is starting production of the iPhone 15 in its plant in Tamil Nadu, India
iPhone 15 series made in India units will be available with-in just weeks after China units

Its the 1st time when a new ‌iPhone‌ model has started mass production in India before it has been announced by Apple.
Before iPhone 14 series, iPhones made in India lagged operations by around 6-9 months.

Apple produced 7% of the iPhone 14 series in India at the end of March 2023
Apple Airpods will also be manufactured in India by the end of 2024 at a Foxconn Plant in Hyderabad, India

Apple plans to produce 25% of all iPhones in India by 2025 along with other products such as the iPad, Apple Watch, Airpods etc

iPhone 15 series will also be available in BLUE Color this time & is launching on 12th September Worldwide

Apple will pay 65$ for throttling iPhone's batteries

In 2017, some older iPhone owners noticed that their phone would shut down randomly.
Apple then released software updates to fix it, but they "throttled the processor" to stop it from shutting down randomly which led to slower performance of iPhones

So some people sued Apple for degrading iPhone's battery & filed a lawsuit in 2018 which came to be known as Batterygate

This lawsuit was opened to US customers ONLY.
iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and iPhone SE running iOS 10.2.1 or iOS 11.2 were impacted

Apple said it slowed down the impacted phones because, as phone batteries get older, there is a risk of the phones shutting down.

This scandal resulted in multiple lawsuits that got folded into a class-action lawsuit.

Apple instead of fighting legal battle, agreed to settle it (denying any wrongdoing) by paying up to $500 million

Sadly, the deadline to submit a claim in US passed in October 2020

Samsung XR Headset Prototype Leaks

In the Samsung Unpacked Event of Feb 2023, where Samsung launched Galaxy S23 series, they also announced that its working on a new XR Headset with Google & Qualcomm

But after Apple announced its Apple Vision Pro XR headset, Samsung cancelled the previous XR Headset and started working on a completely new XR device

Now, images and specifications of that canceled XR headset from Samsung have leaked

Design seems similar to Galaxy VR Headset only
• Micro-OLED Displays with Pancakes designed Optics
• Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD RDNA 2 architecture
• 4 cameras on corners front panel
• 2 RGB cameras
• Depth sensor for environment & hand movements tracking
• Rear Mounted Battery

It also does NOT comes with any controller either.
Rather, headset uses eye and hand tracking to allow users to control it

Anyways, it has been cancelled and the new XR Headset will launch in atleast 2024

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4: TSMC v/s Samsung Foundry in 3nm Showdown

It was rumoured that Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be manufactured by Samsung Foundry.
But Chinese Leakers on Weibo have denied the claims & acc to them, it will be built upon TSMC 3nm N3E process

In reality, the "plan" is that the standard variant of SD 8 Gen 4 will be produced by TSMC on its 3nm N3E process.
But, for the Galaxy variant (which offers better performance), Samsung Foundry will manufacture it

TSMC and Samsung Foundry both offer 3nm tech, but they differ in transistor design— TSMC uses old-fashioned FinFET, but Samsung Foundry will use advanced GAA architecture

TSMC yields on its 3nm N3E process currently is "bad" but there is still 1 year time for SD 8 Gen 4 to enter mass production
Also, the SD 8 Gen 4 will feature Nuvia-based Phoenix cores for the first time.

Thus, it is currently impossible to predict if TSMC remains the king or Samsung Foundry will be superior this time.

2024 anticipates fierce mobile CPU competition

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will feature Nuvia-based cores that too on a Mixed Fabrication

Samsung will unveil its NEW "Dream Chip" Mobile CPU (instead of Exynos 2500 ) built upon its advanced GAA architecture.

Apple's Bionic A18 SoC will be built upon TSMC's N3E process.
But TSMC is concerned about Samsung's GAA use that will challenge its dominance

Google Tensor G4 will utilize Samsung's 3nm advanced GAA (Gate-All-Around) architecture

Notably, Samsung's GAA boasts 60% yield, surpassing TSMC's 55%, which also indicates that their Samsung Foundry node issues is being fixed
Thus, a worth watching competition is ahead in mobile SoCs

Out of these 4, who will become the king in 2024, only time can tell.

Microsoft has just sent out invites to a special Microsoft Event that will take place next month on Thursday, September 21 in New York City

Microsoft Surface Laptop 6, Surface 10 Pro, Surface Go 4, potentially a Surface Studio 3, and maybe an Audio Dock 2 could be launched in the event

The Surface Go 4 is codenamed Tanta and will ship with ARM based processors — Snapdragon 7cx SoC along with 5G support
It will be similar to current Surface Go in performance but with better battery life

Surface 10 pro could be launch in 2 sizes — 13" inch and a new 11-inch screen size
The 11-inch Surface Pro is codenamed Luxor.
It will feature a powerful SoC with slimmer bezzels and 120Hz refresh rate

iPhone 15 series will feature 35W Fast Charging support

Currently, the iPhone 14 Pro is limited to charging at 27W and it takes almost 2hrs to fully charge
For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra supports 45W charging & the battery from 0% to 100% takes less than an hour to charge

But now, some of the upcoming iPhone 15 models can be recharged with up to 35W enabling faster charging speed
They will also be equipped with USB Type C ports either 3 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 4.

Apple will likely only give 35W fast charging support to 15 Pro or only 15 Pro Max models instead of regular iPhone 15.

Last year only, Apple introduced a new 35W Dual USB-C charger.

Anyways, iPhone 15 series is debuting worldwide on 12th September,2023

Sony PlayStation 5 Slim Leaks

A video upcoming PS5 Slim "Case" has leaked showcasing that it will come with a detachable disc drive!
It has totally different cover plates that are both divided by a gap.

Sony will base the thinner console on a 5nm APU that produces less heat than the 7nm version powering current models.

It also has 2x USB C Ports , instead of 1x USB Type A and 1x Type C as on PS5

Why is Sony Working On A New PS5?

Sony currently has two variants of the PS5, a digital variant with an SSD & another model with a disc reader.

The PS5 digital variant has integrated the SSD on the motherboard.
If the SSD fails due to any reason, the entire motherboard will have to be replaced which costs as much as buying a new PS5

For the drive model, PS5 cannot be repaired if the disc reader fails.

To solve these issues, PS5 Slim comes with a detachable Disc Drive

Microsoft disclosed (while FTC hearings) that the new version might arrive in September 2023 at a price of 400$

WinRAR vulnerability lets spread Malware without unzipping files

A high-severity vulnerability was discovered by researcher "goodbyeselene" of Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) on June 8th that lets Hackers execute commands on a computer simply by opening an archive, "without" even unzipping it

It carries CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) score of 7.8

The flaw is tracked as CVE-2023-40477 & it exists within the processing of recovery volumes.
"The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a memory access past the end of an allocated buffer," says ZDI

RARLAB released WinRAR version 6.23 on August 2nd, 2023, that fixed the flaw

Anyways, Microsoft is adding native support on Windows 11 for RAR, 7-Zip files.
So 3rd-party software like WinRAR will no longer be required unless you need their advanced features

Android 14 will let you Block full-screen Ads

Ads are necessary for websites, apps to make money but full-screen ads are very annoying as they take over your phone's screen & takes a lot of time to be closed

To combat this, Android 14 will let you manually revoke full-screen notification permissions from apps

Google has added the USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT permission (used by apps to provide full-screen notifications) that can be Turned OFF manually by the user

Even if some apps that does NOT show you full-screen ads, by disabling this permission, apps CANNOT show you full-screen notifications at all.

It will be available in Settings> Apps> Special app access> Full screen notifications

Google will even Turn OFF this permission bydefault for apps downloaded from playstore unless you turn it ON

Note: Clock & Dialer apps are exceptions for this permission

Oppos' ColorOS & other OEMs which shows full-screen ads can now CRY in the corner

A 47-year-old Real Estate Businessman from Aligarh in India suffered burn injuries after his iPhone "exploded"

The man bought that iPhone just 3years ago
It was in his pocket when he felt it becoming hot, and smoke started coming out of it continuously for 10-15 minutes

"I took it out of my pocket and it exploded with a loud sound following which it broke into 2 pieces" said the guy

He was taken to the hospital where he was given treatment for burn injuries on his left thumb and left thigh.

iPhone model was NOT specified but from the looks, it could be an Apple iPhone 7

"Since the accident occurred I have lost faith in the company. I have lodged a complaint against Apple at the police station late last night," said the man

Police said that investigations are going on for the cause of iPhone explosion
