Face Unlock on the Pixel 8 series meets the highest Android biometric class
Source
Biometric authentication models are classified into 3 tiers: Class 3 (formerly Strong), Class 2 (formerly Weak), or Class 1 (formerly Convenience).
Class 3 & Class 2 biometrics can integrate with Biometric Prompt (i.e authenticate within apps). But Class 2 CANNOT integrate with the keystore.
Check the Biometric Class of your phone's fingerprint or face unlock:
1. ADB method
2. Termux (root required)
Modality of 2 means fingerprint scanner, while modality of 8 means face scanner.
Strength of 15 is Class 3, strength of 255 is Class 2, and strength of 4095 is Class 1. (The biometric strengths are defined here while the modalities are defined here.)
Pixel 8 is the FIRST device to offer Class 3 biometrics just by using RGB front camera, WITHOUT any additional hardware
FunFact: Face unlock on XIAOMI smartphones is NOT even registered with biometric API.

Nothing Phone 2's Face Unlock can be Bypassed with the help of a cardboard cutout
YouTube
The selfie camera in most phones is still a 2D image
Smartphones with 3D Face Unlock like Pixel 4 XL & iPhones with face ID use an array of sensors to store depth information
Google has made face unlock on the Pixel 8 series robust by using "machine learning advancements" instead of using additional sensors
A Youtuber tested Face Unlock security on 3 smartphones — Nothing Phone 2, Pixel 8 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro
Pixel 8 Pro struggled when using polarized sunglasses. It was either a hit or miss
While using a mask, ONLY iPhone 15 Pro was able to unlock easily
Then YouTuber tried a cardboard cutout with a high-resolution picture of his face to trick the system
Nothing Phone 2 unlocked the smartphone everytime while iPhone 15 Pro & Pixel 8 Pro did not
Nothing Phone 2 face unlock gets fooled
That's why class-2 biometric face unlock is NOT advised for use for banking apps & password managers

Vivo unveils self-developed BlueOS based on Rust Language!
Vivo revealed BlueOS, its new operating system, at the 2023 Developer Conference. Key features include smart interactions, enhanced user experience, and robust data safety. BlueOS, based on Rust Language, supports diverse input methods like voice, text, gestures, and even brain waves. It also integrates the BlueXlink connection protocol.
Vivo says that BlueOS has reduced memory usage by 67% and increased rendering efficiency by 48%. It features a super coroutine mechanism that can increase response speed by 18%. Security benefits stem from the Rust-based system framework, reducing vulnerabilities related to memory usage.
BlueOS can run on a variety of devices with as little as 32MB of RAM, making it suitable for various gadgets, from smart home appliances to wearables. While it won't initially be on Vivo smartphones, the upcoming Vivo Watch 3 will be the first device to feature BlueOS.

Apple called Android a "massive tracking device"
According to the documents disclosed by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) from the ongoing Google antitrust trial, Apple called Android a “massive tracking device.” in an internal presentation
The presentation was made in 2013 & was emailed from Eddy Cue to CEO Tim Cook.
It is noscriptd “Competing on Privacy" & dove into how Apple’s competitors handled privacy & user data.
Apple combines data only when it elevates the user experience. Meanwhile, Google combines data across services, without any reason.
IRONICALLY, despite Apple describing Android as a massive tracking device, an internal Google email from 2016 shows that Apple wanted data sharing with Google to be reciprocal
Apple wanted to know:
• Which links were clicked on
• How long it took to satisfy a user's query
In the email, Google told Apple they don’t share information about what users click on in Google Search.
However, Google did had a data exchange proposal
Honestly, ALL smartphones track you, be it Android or iOS.
Privacy is just a MYTH

You may have seen articles about how the Flipper Zero can be used to easily spam iOS, Windows, and Android devices with bogus Bluetooth device connection requests, which in the case of iOS 17, can crash them. Here's how to protect your Android device from these spam attacks.
Many outlets are telling users to disable Nearby Share on Android to block these spam attacks, but that's the wrong setting to disable. Instead, you need to go to Settings --> Google --> Devices & sharing --> Devices and turn off "Scan for nearby devices". Above is a graphic that shows these steps.
This is the setting that controls the Google Fast Pair Service (GFPS), or Fast Pair for short, which is Google's Bluetooth device pairing request feature these DoS attacks are spamming.
Fortunately, Fast Pair seems to have some built-in protection against this kind of attack. According to mobile-hacker, Fast Pair seems to ignore excessive pairing requests. Thus, it may not be necessary to disable this feature, so only do this if you really want to be safe.
Note: Some OEMs have their own Fast Pair-like implementations that need to be disabled separately to mitigate this kind of attack. It may not be possible to disable these without turning off Bluetooth entirely, though.

The Pixel 8 series are the first Android handsets that allow you to enable ARM's MTE (Memory Tagging Extension), a feature of Arm v9 CPUs that helps protect against memory safety bugs by providing detailed information about memory violations. This feature can help developers more easily discover memory safety issues in their applications.
Like the Tensor G3, MediaTek's new Dimensity 9300 also supports MTE, and it can even be switched on or off in the bootloader. Tensor G3 integrates support for MTE only within Android's developer-facing toggle. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 does not support MTE.
MTE can be enabled on compatible devices running Android 14 by going to Settings > System > Developer options > Memory Tagging Extension.
Do note that MTE is disabled by default because it's highly likely you'll encounter issues with apps crashing or failing to run correctly. There shouldn't be any "noticeable performance issues", though, according to Google's Mark Brand writing for the Project Zero blog.
Google's Sanitizer Test App (available on Google Play) can be used to check whether MTE has been enabled in the bootloader.
With shell commands, you can configure the MTE mode (async, sync, asymmetric), but note that certain system processes (like system_server, NFC, SE, Bluetooth) are excluded. Chromium doesn't support MTE yet, either.
