First Nothing Chats, now Sunbird shuts down its iMessage for Android app
The Sunbird app also NO longer appears on PlayStore after Nothing Chats.
Also, Sunbird is a very sussy company with whom Carl Pei partnered
Sunbird announced iMessage for Android in December 2022
But during the press invitation, Sunbird did NOT answer any technical question about app's privacy & security claims.
Sunbird then started a "waitlist" for its app access & promised rolling-out invitations to their app's "beta" access
In April, Sunbird boasted it had 100,000 sign-ups on the waitlist & gets 2500+ sign ups daily.
So it's giving Sunbird app to 200 "alpha" testers
So, beta test changed to alpha & giving app's access to only 200 out of 2500+ daily sign-ups
Then Sunbird claimed 93% success rate for their iMessage app".
This means that 7% of the messages ends up in a black hole.
In April, Sunbird also promised a "Summer 2023 launch" which NEVER happened.
That's why Nothing Chats ended up being a shitshow

Apple files court case against EU's Digital Markets Act
Apple has filed a legal case challenging decisions taken by the European Commission under its Digital Markets Act
EU's DMA objective is to make it easier for people to move between competing services, requiring them to inter-operate their messaging apps with rivals and let users decide which apps to pre-install on their devices.
While details of Apple's legal challenge have NOT been made public, Bloomberg earlier reported that Apple would challenge the inclusion of Apple's App Store as a gatekeeper.
EU has been successful in forcing Apple to follow universal standards
For example, When Americans asked Apple to add RCS compatibility so that they could also send high-quality videos to their friends/ relatives using Android
Tim Cook responded, "Buy your Mom, an iPhone!"
But when Europeans asked about RCS compatibility, Apple said "Alright".
iMessage was NOT a Gatekeeper for the EU's DMA and nevertheless Apple still added RCS
