ARM's Powerful "Blackhawk" CPU might beat iPhone performance

Analyst firm Moor Insights and Strategy reports that Arm’s next Cortex-X CPU likely the Cortex-X5 could be the most powerful smartphone CPU around
Cortex-X5 is likely codenamed as "Blackhawk"

Cortex-X5 core will offer the “largest year-over-year IPC performance increase in five years” after the Cortex-X1debut

Blackhawk will also offer “great” large language model (LLM) performance, for boosting generative AI tasks.

It’s believed that this ambitious new CPU is part of a plan by Arm to “eliminate the performance gap between Arm-designed processors and custom Arm implementations.”

Qualcomm on the other hand will use Nuvia-based Phoenix cores instead of ARM Cortex cores in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
So Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will NOT pack Cortex-X5 core

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 codenamed and Samsung Exynos 2500 will pack the Blackhawk CPU core

Apple Pays $13.6 Million Fine to Russia Over App Store Monopoly

In July 2022, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) ruled that Apple violated Russian antitrust laws for allegedly abusing its dominant position in the app market.

The FAS said that Apple forces Russian iOS app developers to use the company’s payment tools in their apps. It also said that the company prohibits developers from telling users in their apps that they can pay or use other payment methods outside the App Store.

In addition, Apple requires developers to remove links to their online resources and change app functionality. This way, registration forms cannot redirect to external websites.

On January 17, 2024, the antitrust agency issued a fine of 1.2 billion rubles ($13.6 million) to Apple
The funds were transferred to Russia’s federal budget.

In February 2023, the FAS said Apple had paid a $12.1 Million fine in another antitrust case alleging Apple's abuse of its dominance in the mobile apps market.

STOP Believing Golden Reviewers' Test results

Golden Reviewer tests smartphone SoCs efficiency, performance etc similar to Geekerwan and publications like AnandTech
But his test results are FLAWED

Some (mostly Snapdragon fanbois & Exynos haters) blindly trust his test scores

Those even believe that the Snapdragon 888 & 8 Gen1 is a "heater chip" because of Samsung.
In reality, Qualcomm chose it for more profits despite knowing it got just 35% yield

In his Specint06 test for Big cores, he found out that the E2400 is power hungry than SD 8Gen3 or MTK D9300

But in his results, E2400 when compared with SD8 Gen 3 & D9300, the score difference is less than 10%, but the power consumption differs by 40% or higher ???

Golden Reviewer previously found out that the Apple A15 CPU is less efficient than A14 CPU which was the opposite of AnandTech's findings

In reality, Golden Reviewer's testing method only was wrong.

Better believe AnandTech & Geekerwan figures as they are reliable

The Base Model of the OnePlus 12R comes with UFS 3.1 storage

OnePlus 12R in India and USA comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage in its base model

In Europe and China, OnePlus 12R comes in a 256GB storage variant only with 16GB RAM

Since Micron UFS 4.0 tech does NOT support 128GB storage, thus the OnePlus 12R base model also supports UFS 3.1 storage only

FYI to custom kernel users who are suddenly failing device attestation in Play Integrity

The cause appears to be that Google has blacklisted certain strings from kernel version names (case insensitively).

The reason my kernel fails Play Integrity device attestation right now is because Google blacklisted my name from the kernel version string:
5.15.110-Sultan fails
5.15.110-sultan fails
5.15.110-Slutan works

Other kernels which are affected by the Play Integrity change are likely also on Google's kernel version string blacklist.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is also rumoured to run at 4GHz even!

However, the power consumption is concerning

The upcoming MediaTek Dimesnity 9400 will use "Three" Cortex-X5 ARM cores unlike Snapdragon which will use Nuvia cores

Dimensity 9300 consists of "Four" Cortex-X4 CPU, but with Dimensity 9400, MediaTek reduced it to three for better efficiency & less heating

Previously, DCS said that MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will outperform Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in ALL aspects & now the leaked benchmarks confirms the same as well

However, its rumoured that MediaTek engineers internally are saying that there will be power consumption issues.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will also be power hungry

Anyways, there are still 9~10 months left for both the SoCs to get released.
