OnePlus 13 Cheats in Benchmarks
Korean Youtuber BullsLab found out if you disguise benchmarking apps like Geekbench and 3D Mark as Instagram or even Genshin Impact, the benchmarking scores on OnePlus 13 dropped significantly.
Geekbench 5 originally:
Single-core: 2121
Multi-core: 6607
Geekbench 5 after disguised as Instagram app:
Single-core: 1501
Multi-core: 5607
Disguising 3DMark as Genshin Impact caused wildlife extreme stress score to drop from 6695 to 4165
For the Geekbench 6, originally:
Single-core: 2998
Multi-core: 9227
Geekbench 6 disguised as Genshin Impact:
Single-core: 2474 💀
Multi-core: 8460 💀
The apps can be disguised by decompiling and recompiling an app (package). Since it's for internal use only, the key file doesn't need to match the one used on the Play Store.

Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite is a Heater!
Tech reviewer Ben Geskin tried gaming on his Realme GT 7 Pro powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite SoC. He tried games like MadOut 2 on Max Settings for 10mins which at start offered 45 FPS & later throttled down to 33FPS only. The youtuber then tried playing Wreckfest at highest brightness & at Max Graphics. GT Turbo Game Settings was turned ON which was set to balance mode with low power.
Initially the temperate was 26C and it was offering 60FPS. However, after just 15mins of gameplay, the FPS dropped to 50FPS and the temperature raised to 43C. It took 20mins for the redness on youtuber's hand to disappear which was caused by playing just for 15mins.
Obviously, the hottest spot was the chip area, but the top frame was also burning hot and that’s where you hold your hand. He claims that:
"Gaming on a Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone… it hurts. This is the hottest phone I’ve ever held - literally. It even started smelling like melted plastic"

RIP Xiaomi's GetApps Store in India
Xiaomi/ Redmi/ Poco smartphones come with GetApps pre-installed. However, GetApps has also been widely criticised due to intrusive ads, system bloatware, and unnecessary notifications. It also cannot be uninstalled. But now, Xiaomi is ditching its own GetApps store in India with PhonePe's Indus App Store
GetApps store will be replaced by Indus App Store from January 2025 automatically. It will also provide updates for Xiaomi's system apps as well. The GetApps team will continue providing app installation and support services under the name Indus Services App.
Phonepe's Indus Appstore comes with support for 12 regional languages tailored for the Indian audience. It has access to over 200,000 apps and games across 45 categories. The developer platform is free for the first year

Zenless Zone Zero x Apple
Apple and Hoyoverse (also called Mihoyo, Developer of Genshin Impact) have collaborated for the following Zenless Zone Zero themed devices:
• iPhone 16 Special Edition
• iPhone 16 Pro Special Edition
• AirPods 4 Special Edition
All the device will be ZZZ's Miyabi & Section 6 themed and are only available in South Korea at the moment. It is very rare to see themed iPhones as Apple barely collaborates.

Dixon Technologies partners with Compal to Manufacture Google Pixels at its Noida Plant in India
Homegrown electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies announced a pact with Taiwanese original design maker Compal Electronics to produce Google Pixel smartphones in India.
Dixon’s wholly owned subsidiary Padget Electronics will be making the high-end smartphones at its manufacturing facility in Noida. Foxconn subsidiary Wow Tech currently makes these phones at its Chennai unit and now Dixon will become the second contract manufacturer to make Pixels in India.
With Pixel phones in its bouquet, Dixon is now the contract manufacturer to almost every major smartphone brand in India, except Apple. The company will be making around 100,000 (1 Lakh) Pixel phones every month, of which 25-30% will be exported to countries like Singapore, Malaysia etc.
Unlike Compal in Vietnam, Dixon is quite strict in terms of leaks.

BREAKING: Google Announced Changes to the Play Integrity API
Google has announced changes in the tech that powers the Play Integrity API on all devices running Android 13+ (API Level 33). API integrations will automatically transition to the new verdicts in May 2025.
The improved verdicts will require, and make greater use of, hardware-backed security signals using Android Platform Key Attestation, making it significantly harder and more costly for attackers to bypass. We’ll also be adjusting verdicts when we detect security threats across Android SDK versions, such as when there is evidence of excessive activity or key compromise, without requiring any developer work
The transition to the new verdicts will reduce the device signals that need to be collected and evaluated on Google servers by ~90% and our testing indicates verdict latency can improve by up to ~80%.
All optional verdict signals are being standardized across apps, games, SDKs, and more.
For apps installed outside of Google Play & all other API requests, developers receive a verdict with information about the device, account license, and app, but without the extra security signals. You can read the full changes on Android Developers Blog

Google has announced changes in the tech that powers the Play Integrity API on all devices running Android 13+ (API Level 33). API integrations will automatically transition to the new verdicts in May 2025.
We're updating the “meets-strong-integrity” response to require a security update within the last year on devices running Android 13 and above. For example, your app could respond differently to the legacy “meets-strong-integrity” definition on devices running Android 12 and lower than to the enhanced definition on devices running Android 13 and higher. However, when the strong label isn’t available for the user, we recommend that you have a fallback option.
