Android Authority’s Exclusive Pixel 10 MediaTek Leak: Didn’t Age Well, Like Their ‘Sources at Google’

Earlier, Android Authority dropped an "exclusive" leak claiming that Google had chosen a MediaTek modem for the Pixel 10 series. They even went on to re-iterate this "exclusive" leak in their recent articles and claimed that they have "sources inside Google" telling them all about it.

Well, turns out… trust me bro, that was about as real as "The best source for Android OS news.”

The Pixel 10 series will use the same solid Samsung Exynos 5400 modem as the Pixel 9 but prolly a better revision of it. No MediaTek modem again and Xiaomi still remains the only brand to equip a flagship MediaTek T800 5G modem in its flagship Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone. So much for those "exclusive" sources inside Google!

Beware of the Magisk Man - he bricked my phone.

It started with a whisper on a forum thread. “Root with caution,” they said. But I was confident, cocky, even. Magisk was the holy grail of root access, and I wanted full control of my device.

They said he only appears when you flash recklessly, when you don't check the boot image, when you patch without backups, when you laugh in the face of TWRP.

I patched my boot. The phone rebooted. Black screen. No recovery. No fastboot. Just silence.

Then, a glint, a reflection on my screen that shouldn’t have been there. A silhouette wearing a cracked safetyNet badge. And a whisper, chilling and amused: "Next time, verify the SHA256."

I clawed at forums, shouted into XDA voids, but it was too late. The Magisk Man had taken his toll.

They say if you listen closely to a hard-bricked phone, you can still hear his laugh, faint, distorted, deep in the NAND.

And me? I learned my lesson.

Next phone? Stock.

There's a new settings around the corner 👀

It seems like Google started testing a brand-new "Enhanced HDR Brightness" feature within the Display settings menu, letting users finally customize HDR brightness to match their own preferences.

While it remains unclear whether this is gonna be released soon or not, there's a certain chance that it might drop as soon as the next QPR1 beta!

What do you think? Don't forget to leave a comment down below & follow us!

Facebook and Yandex used their Android apps to deanonymize users. They were found secretly bypassing user privacy tools like incognito mode and cookie-clearing features on Android devices. They used hidden communication links between mobile apps (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Yandex Maps) and browsers to track users by linking browser activity with device identifiers like Facebook accounts or Android Advertising IDs. This allowed them to identify users even in incognito mode or after deleting cookies. Additionally, open network ports created risks for malicious apps to exploit user data.

Chrome blocked the exploited WebRTC feature on May 17, prompting Meta to stop using localhost requests in Facebook Pixel noscripts. Yandex had been using similar methods since 2017. These techniques worked in Chrome, Edge, and partially in Firefox but were blocked or restricted in DuckDuckGo and Brave. To prevent such abuses, new specifications like PNA and LNA are being developed to enhance private network security.

The updated Android 16 build has the implementation of the CPU tuning feature that Xiaomi's working on which will let you adjust CPU/GPU frequency and voltage on the fly. Now, it is confirmed that, as usual, it will not be available in Global ROMs and will remain exclusive to China HyperOS only.

I've decided to discontinue the PIF project.

Google is increasingly putting up more obstacles, and I no longer have as much time to dedicate to this as I used to. It's been a very interesting journey, and I've learned a lot. I thank everyone who has accompanied me and contributed to the project.

But things seem to be getting worse, and Google is going to make it even harder to use its services (GMS) on devices with an unlocked bootloader.

As an alternative, you can use PlayIntegrityFork.

Farewell.
