LineageOS 23.0 based on Android 16
- Nearly a month later, Google has not released Android 16 QPR1 source, which results in no 23.1 release (that means no Material 3 Expressive for now)
- With Google not releasing the device tree anymore, Pixel models are not guaranteed to get "day one" support, which is the case with this release
- Currently, Linux 5.4 (4.14 and 4.19 backported) and later versions are required to run this version properly
- The initial batch of devices receiving the promotion include Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 5a
- A total of 104 devices are promoted to LineageOS 23.0, whereas other 141 devices continue to receive 22.2 builds, 8 devices on 21.0 are discontinued
- Now you can also run and test LineageOS in virtualized environments much more easily, including Cuttlefish target support
- Mainline kernel support for easier bringups
What's new
- Improved Charging Control and Fast Charge Control
- New ringtones and alarms (from Plasma Mobile)
- Aperture: Support for JPEG Ultra HDR, RAW, and simultaneous RAW+JPEG capture
- Aperture: A redesigned notification island with dynamic colors, and new indicators (JPEG Ultra HDR, RAW, battery, thermal throttling)
- Twelve: Added a "Play random songs" button
- Twelve: Updated the Now Playing screen with playback statistics
- Twelve: Added the ability to rescan the local media store
- Twelve: Expanded Jellyfin integration, including suggestions, favorites, and better thumbnail handling
- Twelve: Added MIDI playback support
- New app: Catapult (Android TV launcher)
More info: LineageOS

Following up on the Echo Spot release, we now have a LineageOS 18.1 (developed by bengris32 as well) build for the Echo Show 5 (2019, 1st Gen). It’s still considered experimental, but it’s already in a pretty usable state.
Core functionality is there, Audio (choppy), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and OMX all work.
Just like the rook build, this one is based on Android Pie blobs and a 4.9 kernel.
If you’re planning to give it a try, make sure you update amonet to the latest version, since TWRP needs a symlink fix to be able to flash it properly.
For all the details, updates, and downloads, check out the XDA thread here:

Warning: OOS 15.0.0.863 (at least EU version) effectively disables bootloader unlocking. It is unknown if a future version will resolve this.
If you decide to upgrade to it while stock and locked, it is unlikely you will be able to bootloader unlock or flash YAAP.
In YAAP, we will pin abl, so this will not affect us.

What he meant is that rebooting to bootloader (fastbootd works) is broken; it flashes the bootloader screen, and boots back to the system.
This is just a bug as it was also present at some point with OnePlus 10T and OnePlus is not taking away anything, so stop crying

New Pixnapping Attack allows any Android app without permissions to leak info displayed by other apps exploiting Android APIs and a hardware side channel (CVE-2025-48561)
Pixnapping is not fixed and probably affects all Androids.
PoC: Not available yet.
Video demonstrates stealing 2FA codes from Google Authenticator. It's like taking screenshot. Pixnapping exploits a side channel that allows the malicious app to map the pixels at those coordinates to letters, numbers, or shapes.

Mozilla has started testing Firefox VPN, a free, browser-only virtual private network integrated directly into Firefox. This service routes user traffic through intermediary servers in various countries to mask IP addresses. It represents the first step in Mozilla’s initiative to embed additional privacy and security tools into the browser. The feature is currently in an early implementation phase and will undergo testing with a small group of randomly selected users in the US over the next few months.
Firefox VPN differs from Mozilla’s existing paid product, Mozilla VPN, which offers system-wide protection across up to five devices. The new browser-based version operates exclusively within Firefox and activates for the entire browser via a button in the address bar. Developers plan to add functionality that allows users to enable the VPN selectively for individual tabs or specific websites. Mozilla emphasizes that Firefox VPN remains a distinct, free offering limited to browser use.
