Short history of our testnets:
YNet. It was a Proof-of-Authority chain for all the time until the first PoS testnet.
XNet-Pluto. This was the first PoS testnet based on Polygon Edge, and everyone in Point Browser is switched to this one now.
Unfortunately, after testing with a few validators it quickly became clear that Polygon team's claims to us about Polygon Edge were incorrect, and their Edge subproduct had important Proof-of-Stake modules completely missing or broken (such as paying rewards and even slashing), and attempts to add them into Polygon Edge by ourselves were eating too much of our time.
It was a real curveball in the middle of the launch, and of course we could've always launched with another PoA chain instead and gradually add validators, but we still want to do our best to get PoS from the start. So we decided it's time to ditch the very limited Polygon Edge and now we're testing the alternative EVM-compatible PoS product, which we were trying in parallel as an alternative and which seems to be more mature when it comes to PoS: evmos.
XNet-Neptune. This is the new set of testnets based on evmos (and evmos is based on Cosmos SDK, and Cosmos SDK is based on Tendermint, for anyone curious). The testnets are named after Neptune moons, to keep mental track of them:
XNet-Triton. This is the first one of Neptune testnets, and the one you are invited to test out. Follow the instructions here
