I hate hate hate the "cannibalism is a metaphor for love" argument no it's not, its insane is what it is, this movie is more than cannibalism, they're both runaway teenagers both running away from the families that abandoned them and themselves and in the middle of their horrific life they find someone like themself.


Spoiler:
The reason why merin decided to eat him was because he was begging her, he knew he was a lost cause and there was no way of saving him so he wanted to be a use for merin even if it meant keeping her full for a while (when these people don't eat others they get low energy and depressed) and merin ate him not because she was giving into her urges and she did beacuse she wanted to fullfil his wish.


This is a beautiful story but it makes me so upset that all people get from it is "cannibalism is love" which is insane, cause they're both trying to not be cannibalists and all they want is a normal life and someone to rely on
