I've been reading about British hate speech laws:

Communication can be classified as a "hate crime" if it is interpreted to be "intentionally alarming or distressing" and if the victim or anybody else believes that it was motivated by hostility or prejudice based on race, religion, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

The UK has no legal definition of "hostility," so the government uses "the everyday understanding of the word which includes ill-will, spite, contempt, prejudice, unfriendliness, antagonism, resentment and dislike." They also provide no legal definition of "prejudice."

So, it seems the law is intentionally ill-defined and primarily based on the interpretations of the state and feelings of the "victim(s)."

"We interpret [don't have to prove?] that you intended to cause alarm and/or distress with your unfriendly communication, and Victim believes [doesn't have to prove?] that you were motivated by hostility and/or prejudice, therefore you are a hate criminal."

I know the UK is corrupt but this is ridiculous.

People should pay attention to Britain because this is what Leftists want for America. They've been pushing federal "hate speech" laws for decades to no avail. They've had little success in colleges, with "speech codes" getting shot down in court, but some success in work environments by classifying speech as "harassment" and weaponizing the Civil Rights Act.
