Ethiopian Student Wins Global Apple Challenge with AI Education App

Nahom Worku, a Computer Engineering student at York University, won Apple’s Swift Student Challenge with his AI-powered app, AccessEd. The app helps students…especially those without internet..by recommending study topics and turning handwritten notes into flashcards. Out of 350 global applicants, only 50 won, and Nahom was among 11 invited to present to Apple CEO Tim Cook. Inspired by his offline learning experience in Ethiopia, Nahom hopes his app will show how tech can make learning more fun, effective, and accessible.
