One of our mentors asked, "What is happiness? When do you feel happy?" We responded that we feel happy when we gain something good or avoid losing what we already have.
He then shared a thought-provoking equation "Happiness = Reality - Expectations" He continued, "If you want to be happy, expect nothing and appreciate everything."
Recently, our lecturer announced that 80% of the students had failed. I thought I had failed too, but to my surprise, I passed! The thing is, I don't accept anything below a B+ as an acceptable grade. Now, as I've just finished my 4th year, I'm happy that I passed, but it got me thinking.
Why don't we set high expectations and strive to make them a reality? Is it because we fear failure, because it's hard, or because it might not be necessary?

Exploring Machine Control Systems at a Flour Factory
Today, I had the incredible opportunity to visit a flour factory as part of my journey in the Awash Bank Tatariwochu competition, where my focus is on machine control systems. It was fascinating to delve into the intricacies of their machinery and control mechanisms.
The factory team generously explained every detail, from each Machines to the control room integration. I captured as much as I could with diagrams, notes, and even some photos.
One key takeaway was the challenge of system extensibility. The current setup, utilizing an older Siemens PLC and partial manual operations, faces compatibility issues. Upgrading or adding new machines is problematic, as the new systems can't integrate with the existing ones, leading to the creation of custom control solutions.
Next week, I’m excited to visit a sister company in the food processing industry, which uses newer technologies and control systems.

Whenever I participate in gig events and competitions, I often notice that most attendees are older than me many in their 30s who have completed their education and gained some work experience, and others in their 40s and 50s. It's easy to feel like I have plenty of time ahead of me.
But then, I meet peers who have already achieved remarkable things, and even younger individuals who are far ahead in their journeys. It can be a bit daunting, making me wonder if I'm falling behind.
Yet, I remind myself that everyone's path is unique. Instead of comparing myself, I focus on my own goals and aspirations. After all, success isn't just about timing; it's about dedication and the journey itself
