“We all start as a human-divine unity but the process of growing up, or growing down (as James Hillman would say), of developing a separate self represents a “fall” away from this primordial sense of oneness. In developing a self, we inevitably become self-centered, ego-centric. We forget about our origins, our true self, our divine origins, and in falling away from our God-given destiny, we become alienated. We develop, as Winnicott would say, a false self—disconnected from our true self.

Trauma exacerbates this process. Disassociation ensures alienation and makes the fallen state permanent. This is why the minions of trauma, from the inner world, are all fallen angels. They wish to close the windows into the beauty of our own original God-given selfhood. This fall is a necessary and inevitable process. Trauma is universal in life, and yet there remains within us a part of the original wholeness that longs to return to that great spiritual reality from which we’ve came, and about which we have forgotten.

We all have our blind spots. When we are alone, it’s easier to hide by ourselves. When we are around others who are growth-oriented, they can act as mirrors. The growth or spiritual evolutionary aspect can go faster when we are in relationship with others because more material surfaces.

Unconscious trauma responses can “motivate” a person to achieve worldly success to avoid feeling suppressed pain. They can become multi millionaires but it is driven by internalized toxic shame. Life coaches oftentimes only help to strengthen the false self via normalizing pathologies.

On the other side of the coin, unconscious trauma and internalized toxic shame can also immobilize a person, never gets actualized and blames others for his/her misery, lacking any will to do anything. Both extremes are based on the same wound.

Trauma and shadow work combined with spiritual work help to heal the inner child, brings forth the true Self, puts the soul in the driver seat as a receiver for Divine Will & one’s unique soul purpose as opposed to the conditioned desires of the wounded ego personality.

Ask yourself, are your desires, wants, goals and aims in life really “yours” or are they a compensation for lack or a “hole” within you; or are they based on social/cultural programming?

Fair warning: contemplating deeply on this question and exploring it somatically in your body can bring up uncomfortable emotions unless the defenses and mental rationalizations are too strong to avoid any form of “disillusionment”.

But the only way out is in and through to become real with ourselves and be truly authentic [individuated] and not living a lie. This process is also the much needed foundation before trying to help make the world a better place - connected to and living from Essence.

In whatever way you may celebrate this time as a Christian, Pagan, or whatever you identify yourself as, and whatever tradition floats your boat (or make up your own religion/ceremony), even if you don't celebrate it, are an atheist, nihilist, or just a grumpy person stuck in relentless negativity; to all the lovers, supporters, enemies, haters & trolls; to everyone going through a hard time and challenges, dealing with loss and hardship, to the ones thriving, to all the ones who are lonely or surrounded by loved ones, to the most gender-confused woke person all the way to the manliest conservative alpha male worshipping Jesus...we do wish you health, wisdom, love, and grace in whatever form it may show up for you in the next cycle in this adventure of consciousness.
