UNDREAMING WETIKO

Last weekend, Paul Levy was a special guest at our 14-week Embodied Soul Awakening online group program. It was very insightful and inspiring for everyone. Our participants asked some great questions. His work fits what Laura and I teach very well.

Paul’s new book "Undreaming Wetiko" (the 3rd book in the Wetiko series), is coming out today. I had the pleasure of reading the manunoscript he sent me last year. I can highly recommend his new book. Paul goes deeper into how Wetiko relates to Childhood wounding, Trauma, ancestral trauma, intimate relationships, and how it can lead to unconscious self-sabotage. He also explores how the "unlived life of parents" and their unconscious Trauma/Shadow can "infect" their children with wetiko. Paul beautifully fuses the concept of wetiko with in-depth psychology, shadow work, and many other topics.

He also addressed people's many misconceptions about Wetiko and even coined a new term for it, calling it "premature comprehension delusion," or PCD. It basically means that people read maybe an article about it or a quote and then already believe they know what it is and how it works but have, in fact, no or very limited understanding because Wetiko is extremely deceptive. Most people also only see it in others but not how Wetiko operates in themselves or how they project it externally. Some people also mistake Wetiko for an “entity,” among many other distortions. Paul’s book clarifies it all in even more depth.

ANCESTRAL TRAUMA AND FAMILY CURSE

“Unresolved trauma passed down through the generations is cumulative—to the extent it is not consciously dealt with in one generation, it becomes more severe each time it is passed on to a subsequent generation. Every one of us, whether we know it or not, has become who we are, at least in part, as a result of our parents’ unconscious, unprocessed trauma. It is not just our bodies that are the offspring of our parents and our ancestry; our psyches are the offspring of our ancestral unconscious as well. The portal out of which our personality crystallizes into who we are is informed by the unresolved karma and the unmetabolized trauma of our ancestors. Our parents, who Jung suggests we should view as “children of the grandparents,” have been formed by their parents, in a lineage that goes back through countless generations.”

THE UNLIVED LIVES OF PARENTS

“The repressed and unlived lives of the parents act like a contagious and malignant psychic virus that infects the surrounding field. Whatever is repressed by the parents is nonetheless alive, covertly working in the surrounding environment, influencing the unconscious of the children. The parents often remain blissfully unaware of how their repression affects other family members, who have to deal with the burden of their repressed contents. This psychological virus is like a nonlocalized bug in the system that creates a disease and disturbance in the coherence of the family. This virulent psychic pathogen germinates in and replicates itself through the unconscious of the children, which is the medium it uses to reproduce itself over time, through the generations.

THE TRAP OF INTELLECTUALIZING WETIKO

"Another danger that many of us who are committed to doing our inner work can fall prey to is to turn our encounter with our wetiko- laced shadow—a potential coming-to-grips with it—into a mere intellectual idea instead of an experience that needs to be lived through and actually felt on a visceral level. If we avoid this living encounter with our own darkness through a trick of our mind, we have then, right at the point of confronting wetiko, given ourself over to it. Then, with our collusion, the wetiko cycle—the endless cycle of samsara, of never-end- ing suffering—regenerates, repeating again and again until it is eventually seen for what it is."

The Woke virus has infected many people and major institutions. There is intense fear and social pressure when dealing with the Woke mob that is destructive.

Healing our childhood wounds and re-parenting ourselves is the prerequisite before we can engage in the deeper spiritual and esoteric work, so we don’t spiritually bypass the process, which can result in creating a false spiritual identity.
