🇺🇸U.S. Senate votes to ban TikTok on government devices

The Senate unanimously passed a bill that would ban the use of TikTok on government devices amid growing national security concerns over the Chinese-owned social media platform.

The No TikTok on Government Devices Act, introduced by Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), was passed late Wednesday. The bill now heads to the House.

The bill will need to be signed by President Joe Biden to become law.

🤔 But if government officials can't use TikTok, how will they know which pronouns are blue-haired teachers feeling like each day?

❗️TWITTER FILES: PART 6❗️

The new 'Twitter files' release by Matt Taibbi uncovers the FBI tampering with Twitter

The main takes from the files:

▪️Twitter’s contact with the FBI was constant and pervasive.

▪️Between January 2020 and November 2022, there were over 150 emails between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety chief Yoel Roth.

▪️Most of the requests were to review or take action on tweets and accounts, especially during election. Both right- and left-leaning accounts were at different times subject to review. Even obvious jokes were reviewed and, if needed, censored.

▪️At the request of the FBI, Twitter executives were distributing the 'products' among employees, which were actually bulletins stressing the need for greater collaboration between law enforcement and 'private sector partners.'

▪️One of the of the bulletins - 'Russian malign influence use of permissive social media platforms' - states, that:
"Russian malign influences see operational advantages in sites with less active effort to ban false information, offensive language, and inauthentic behavior."

▪️There were multiple points of entry into Twitter for government-flagged reports.

"What most people think of as the 'deep state' is really a tangled collaboration of state agencies, private contractors, and (sometimes state-funded) NGOs. The lines become so blurred as to be meaningless." - Matt Taibbi concludes.

🇺🇦U.S. Ambassador shares that it is difficult to track whether financial and military aid to Ukraine is getting to its intended recipients

Up to date, the United States, the European Union and other countries have sent over $100 billion in aid to Ukraine. The U.S. government is struggling to keep track of the billions of dollars sent to Ukraine, even relying on Ukrainian forces and staffers to keep tabs on how the money is being used.

U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink, who sent the a 'sensitive but unclassified' cable from the United States embassy in Kyiv, says that chaos on the ground and a history of corruption makes wars like the one in Ukraine very expensive and difficult to track.

African nations have complained that weapons the West has sent to Ukraine to aid in its fight against Russia have started to pour into their nations via Ukrainian arms dealers. Some of the Stinger and Javelin missiles appear on the black market in Albania and Kosovo.

Reportedly, in April only 30-40% of aid was making it to its intended destination.

Georgia pastor wants to use his church as a marijuana farm to draw more black men

Atlanta pastor of megachurch Jamal Bryant says that his church needs to attract more black men. He suggested that the best lure for black men was cannabis.

"I'll be able to bring in Black males. They're able to do it legally. I'm teaching them farming. I'm helping them to enhance the ecosystem. This is the kind of conversation. So if the guy, Black boy, in Bankhead said ‘they growing weed at the church? Where do I join?' I don't need no pamphlet for him," Bryant said.

Of course, Bryant's dream of turning his church into a marijuana farm would face an uphill battle in Georgia where marijuana laws prohibit the growth and possession of marijuana for anything but a small personal amount of medical low-THC oil.

Supporter of police defunding has spent more than half a million dollars for her own private security

Rep. Cori Bush, one of the most outspoken federal politicians for defunding police, has now topped more than $500,000 in private security detail expenses.

And as Bush's campaign continues to dish large amounts into the security detail, she has remained one of the most vocal federal politicians pushing to defund police, which she has dug into several times.

Bush said she would ensure she has security because she has had attempts on her life and has "too much work to do."

"So suck it up, and defunding the police has to happen," Cori Bush said.

Transgender student is charged for alleged violent assault of two girls in a school bathroom

A transgender high school student has been charged after allegedly assaulting two female students in the girls bathroom at an Oklahoma high school, leaving them with injuries.

The trans-identifying student, a biological male, reportedly hit the first girl in the face and forced her to the ground, then punched the second girl who was trying to help twice.

The parent of trans-student reportedly blamed the female victim, saying she had 'made fun' of her child for being transgender.

🔸Oklahoma passed a law earlier this year requiring students to use the bathroom that matches their biological sex, so it is unclear why the trans-identifying student was in the girls’ bathroom in the first place.

Woke schools are not safe for children.

Netflix is giving advertisers their money back after missing viewership targets

Netflix is, reportedly, allowing advertisers to take their money back for ads that have yet to run. The specific shortfall amounts vary but in some cases, Netflix has only delivered roughly 80 percent of the expected audience.

The viewership shortfall indicates slower-than-expected consumer adoption of Netflix’s ad-supported plan, which costs $6.99 a month and features commercials.

In the first half of 2022 Netflix has already lost more than 1 million subscribers.
