Incidents involving destruction or damage to ships (real or imagined) in order to justify US military action, in chronological order:
The Barbary Wars (maritime piracy)
The American Civil War (ships at Fort Sumter)
The Spanish American War (USS Maine)
World War 1 (RMS Lusitania)
World War 2 (Pearl Harbor)
Six Day War (USS Liberty[failed attempt])
Vietnam (Gulf of Tonkin)
Iran-Iraq War (USS Stark)
Various oil tanker and canal incidents over the years... I'm sure I'm forgetting things.
And now Houthi Yemen (backed by Iran!!1!!!!1!1) is shooting missiles at our ships in the Red Sea.
It's all so tiresome.
