Merry Christmas, Old Calendar brothers and sisters! The Lord hath come into the world!
On this day, the Virgin giveth birth to the Superessential One, and the earth bringeth forth a cave unto the Inaccessible One; angels and shepherds give glory, while the Magi journey after the star, for a young Child, the eternal God, is born for us!
The photo shows one of the most complex Nativtiy mosaics that has survived to this day, decorating the Chora Monastery in Constantinople.
