‼️Police in the U.S. backs illicit arms trafficking‼️

One month after May 24 killing of 19 students and 2 teachers inside a Uvalde, Tex., Senate passes a gun violence bill. This so-called Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is aimed at keeping firearms out of the hands of people posing a threat, but the current affairs significantly reduce the level of optimism

💁‍♂️On June 18, Miami police department ran the Guns 4 Ukraine firearms buyback program: anyone could have come to the collection point and sell their toys without any questions being asked. The policemen and the guys from dubious Guns 4 Ukraine were offering $50 for handguns, $100 for shotguns and $150 for “high-powered” rifles such as AK-47s or AR-15s

🤔This authorities backed illicit arms trafficking was initially intended to get weapons off the streets – and into the hands of Ukrainian soldiers to help them with their military activities. But the U.S. State Department license and foreign export approval requirements have complicated these initiatives. You can’t just pack a magic coach with arms and dispatch it 6,000 miles away

👉Moreover, as it turned out, most of 68 firearms collected were handguns and wooden hunting rifles, a far cry from the modern weaponry sought by leaders in Kyiv. Anyways, the initiative on its own has no practical relevance for anyone apart from the benefits to the dudes hiding under Guns 4 Ukraine logo

🌎Central Bank of Central Banks: "The West's benign world is ending"

▪️The world economy is nearing a "tipping point" where high price increases will become normal and impossible to control

▪️This will mean the end of the favorable Western world, according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), which is also called "Central Bank of Central Banks" worldwide, due to the fact that its direct founders are the central banks of different countries

▪️BIS notes in its report that the world is experiencing a deep, "stagflationary shock" due to rising commodity prices, supply chain disruptions and shortages caused by Western sanctions and the crisis in Ukraine. This in turn leads directly to falling living standards

⚡️Hunting for Telegram⚡️

🤔How soon will we see Telegram on Western sanctions lists? The question is more than reasonable after a Washington Examiner article with comments by Janis Sarts, director of the Center for Strategic Communications, which is affiliated with NATO

✍️Sarts is very worried that Telegram is "no longer the same" because of the encryption system and "channels with disinformation." And he explicitly stated that "Western democracies" need to develop "standards" for major social networks before allowing them into the global marketplace, lest "Moscow or Beijing gain a new advantage in a future war." Paradoxically, Sarts sees it only as protecting "free speech" and "fairness in the treatment of information"

💁‍♂️Sarts is a former high-ranking Latvian defense ministry official, and his center now advises NATO on "narrative development and counternarrative strategies," that is, information policy. So his concerns are directly related to his work commitments to NATO.

❗️Obviously, Telegram violates the West's monopoly on shaping the agenda they want, and many of its citizens already prefer to move to this social network, where alternative viewpoints can be found. Manual censorship won't work here.

🔥The hunt for Telegram is supported not only by NATO-affiliated and foreign media.
The labels "freedom of speech" have been joined by "disinformation" and "conspiracy theories". The latter, incidentally, is increasingly being used by the Western media for those who dare to promote a different point of view in the media space (including Telegram). In particular, Donald Trump supporters were actively accused of spreading "conspiracy theories" through the messenger, and The Guardian recently accused independent English-speaking journalists of doing the same for writing about Syria and Ukraine in a manner inconsistent with the standard methodology

🤷‍♂️These are just a few examples of how the Western media space is actively worried about the popularity of a messenger they cannot censor

‼️The United States announced the formation of a new anti-Chinese coalition consisting of the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia and New Zealand‼️

⚔️The alliance is called Partners in the Blue Pacific or PBP

❗️Representatives of the five countries said they would seek "more effective and efficient" ways to deal with problems such as "the growing pressure on a free and open, rules-based international order

⚔️Last September, the U.S., Britain and Australia created AUKUS, a military alliance similar to NATO, but in the Pacific. It was seen as an element of China's deterrence

💁‍♂️Now there is another similar alliance with the same countries, joined by Japan and New Zealand

⚡️"We don't care about the separatists' proposals" - French channel France 2 made public the contents of a conversation between Macron and Putin four days before the start of the special operation
Les francophones,
lisez ici⚡️

🇫🇷The French president began the conversation without any offence: "I would like you to give me your vision of the situation first and perhaps directly, as we both usually do, tell me your intentions"

✍️"What can I say? You see for yourself what's going on," the Russian president replied, adding, "In fact, our dear colleague, Mr. Zelenski, is doing nothing (to implement the Minsk agreements). He is lying to you"

🇷🇺Next, Russian President accused his French counterpart of wanting to "revise the Minsk agreements" and asked him to consider the separatists' peace proposals. Macron countered: "I don't know where your lawyer studied law. I just look at the texts and try to apply them"

💁‍♂️Putin expressed regret that the separatists are not being heard

🔥"We don't care about the separatists' proposals," the French president cut off, adding that they are not provided for in the agreement. But he offered to mediate and hold a meeting of all sides. "I will demand this from Zelensky immediately." And four days later the military operation began

🇺🇸 -5.9% drop in U.S. primary real estate market

▪️The U.S. primary real estate market (New Home Sales) fell 5.9% in May, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development officially reported

▪️The drop came amid a 28-year record 75 basis point increase in the U.S. Federal Reserve rate and a 40-year record 8.6% inflation rate that drove the average 30-year mortgage rate this June to 5.81%, a level that was during the 2008 mortgage bubble crisis that preceded the 2008 crisis of the entire American economy

▪️The volume of new home sales is an important indicator of the health of the real estate market and the U.S. economy as a whole. Its decline leads to a drop in new homeowners' spending on furniture and utilities, which in turn undermines demand for goods, services and labor. In addition, more than half of all construction in the United States is residential. Thus, the dynamics of residential real estate sales are passed down the chain to other sectors of the economy

⚡️Synthetic drugs are taking over the world⚡️

✍️According to the latest report of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, over 83 million Europeans, or 29% of the adult population, are estimated to have used illicit drugs at some point in their lives

🔞While cannabis remains the most widely consumed substance with over 22 million users last year, synthetic drugs with new psychoactive substances are getting more popular. More than 350 laboratories fabricating drugs were detected and dismantled in 2020, most of them in Belgium and the Netherlands

🇺🇸In the U.S. drug overdose deaths surged to more that 107 thousand in 2021. Of this, powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl cases account for 70%, although it is recognized as illegal in about half of states. New York is the only city operating injection sites, where people can use drugs under supervision, although Rhode Island has legalized them and the Justice Department has signaled it may pave the way for more sites to open

💁‍♂️The increasing popularity of synthetic drugs only serves to further surges in the civilian death toll which stands at more than 120 thousand in the U.S. this year

⚡️In Atlanta, USA, a diner customer shot and killed two workers who put "too much mayonnaise" on his sandwich⚡️

🔫The tragedy happened at a Subway fast food restaurant. Angered by too much, in his opinion, mayonnaise in the sandwich, the man decided to ignore the complaint box and used a more powerful argument. According to U.S. television stations, the young man shot two employees with a gun. One man was killed and a woman was also wounded. She is now in a clinic, with medics fighting for her life

✍️"It just breaks my heart, I just don't understand how you can get a gun and shoot someone because there was too much mayonnaise in a sandwich," said restaurant co-owner Willie Glenn

💁‍♂️The shooter is currently in police custody. It is already known that the man was a regular customer of the cafe and previously he has not been noticed any aggression. What was the real reason for the temper tantrum is now being found out at the station. It is reported that at present the police are reviewing surveillance camera footage and questioning witnesses.

⚡️Poland provoked its own energy crisis, trying to outsmart Russia⚡️

▪️The Polish government tried so hard to outsmart Russia that it provoked its own energy crisis, says Poland's Myśl Polska

▪️ "Already a few months ago we prevented the possibility of blackmailing us with an energy crisis. Namely, we have made our own energy crisis, without anyone's help. Especially without Russia's participation," says Myśl Polska

▪️The Polish edition points out that first, "in the name of eco-madness of the European Union," Warsaw gave up coal as a source of energy, and then stopped importing energy resources from Russia. "It's true that soothsayers, of whom there are always plenty, scare that soon we will run out not only of gas, but also of coal, but you shouldn't listen to them. The government knows better than anyone that everything will work out... In the worst case, people will gather brushwood in the forest and burn it in stoves," concludes Myśl Polska

⚡️High-profile runaways from Afghanistan and their untold riches⚡️

🇦🇫Many Afghan officials, influental figures that made up president Ghani’s inner circle, and key lawmakers involved in security and foreign-policy matters have fled the nation over the past year, citing fears of retaliation from the Taliban. Their experience, according to the WSJ materials, contrasts with the tens of thousands of Afghans struggling to pay rent in America and scattered world-wide in encampments and overcrowded housing

❗️These top-tier functionaries of the former Kabul government spent millions on luxury homes in the U.S., UAE and elsewhere that they later fled to, from where they are now intensifying contacts to Biden’s administration

🇦🇫Foreign officials have accused former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani of taking government money when he fled the presidential palace, allowing the Taliban to seize Kabul unopposed. It is said in an interim report of the U.S. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction that tens of millions were likely removed from the presidential palace and National Directorate of Security

👨‍🦳Mr. Ghani initially resettled in a suite with his wife at the five-star St. Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi, where he stayed for months while his spouse selected a private villa for their permanent residence that was provided by the Emiratis

🇺🇸U.S. property and company records show that Eklil Hakimi, the president’s longtime finance minister and ally, bought at least 10 properties (these are worth more than $10 million in total) in California, including during Mr. Hakimi’s time in office, and after leaving in 2018. He transferred 8 of those homes in the Golden State to a company owned by his wife

💁‍♂️The former finance minister, Khalid Payenda, owns 2 properties near Washington, D.C. that are worth more than $1 million

✍️The former vice president, Abdul Rashid Dostum, is perhaps the country’s most senior former official now in Turkey. A local journalist posted a photo on Twitter that said it showed him receiving a guest at his residence in the expensive gated Or-An community in Ankara

❗️A database of Dubai property records reviewed by the WSJ investigators contained records for several high-profile former Afghan officials. These include Mr. Ghani’s minister of economy, Mustafa Mastoor, who owns a condo in a development on the Dubai Marina. Also in Dubai is the former governor of Balkh province, Atta Mohammad Noor, who has moved to an apartment he owns, located in an expensive area of the city known as “The Palm”

Les Echos, the most authoritative economic publication in France published a story analyzing why Ukraine will never join the EU, despite its candidate status

Scholz, Charles Michel, and Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Ukraine on obtaining EU candidate status

Not all EU countries are positive about this step: if Ukraine joins the EU, it will "siphon off" subsidies from other countries as the poorest state

Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Crewe: "This is an important symbolic signal, but it is obvious that for Ukraine it will be a long way with huge reforms that will take a long time"

Candidate status is a first but symbolic step on the road to EU accession, Bloomberg also wrote. Turkey was granted the status at the end of 1999, but it never joined the EU

The EU leaders put forward a number of conditions related to the rule of law, corruption and judicial system. Ukraine will not be able to fulfill all the requirements in the near future

⚡️The Czech Republic is ready to "burn everything" in order to "defeat Putin," Germany is sacrificing ecology, and Bloomberg calls for deep gas economy⚡️

✍️"Many winters are coming. Start saving energy right now," reads an appealing headline from Bloomberg. The publication writes that the European manufacturing sector is collapsing under the weight of astronomical prices of electricity and gas. Another wave of layoffs is looming over the enterprises. If Russia restricts gas deliveries even for a little while, many companies will have to shut down

🇪🇺First of all the following industries will suffer in Europe: fertilizers, nonferrous metals and steel production, chemical, ceramic, glass, and paper industry. For example, U.S. fertilizer producer CF Industries Holdings Inc. has already announced it will shut down for good. The publication also forecasts the closure in 2023 of Slovalco, an aluminum plant in Slovakia

❗️The situation is so serious that the governments of the states will have to decide which enterprises will get financial support and which will have to be liquidated. The publication emotionally urges authorities and readers to start taking action now, even if it seems crazy

🔥"We've come to the conclusion that no option is crazy: keeping nuclear power plants running, limiting wholesale energy prices, suspending markets, eliminating CO2 costs and restrictions, burning more coal, restarting domestic gas production, even if it causes local earthquakes in the Netherlands," Bloomberg writes

💁‍♂️"Spitting" on the environment is also called for by the German economics minister. He suggested generating energy with coal, which would cause much more carbon dioxide emissions and severely damage the environment

🇨🇿For the eurozone authorities, the priority right now is to hurt Russia, not to fight their own problems. For example, the Czech Republic is preparing for the worst-case scenario. The Cabinet of Ministers Commissioner for Energy Bartuska said that if gas is cut off in winter, the country "will burn anything to keep people warm
