🇦🇫Foreign officials have accused former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani of taking government money when he fled the presidential palace, allowing the Taliban to seize Kabul unopposed. It is said in an interim report of the U.S. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction that tens of millions were likely removed from the presidential palace and National Directorate of Security

👨‍🦳Mr. Ghani initially resettled in a suite with his wife at the five-star St. Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi, where he stayed for months while his spouse selected a private villa for their permanent residence that was provided by the Emiratis

🇺🇸U.S. property and company records show that Eklil Hakimi, the president’s longtime finance minister and ally, bought at least 10 properties (these are worth more than $10 million in total) in California, including during Mr. Hakimi’s time in office, and after leaving in 2018. He transferred 8 of those homes in the Golden State to a company owned by his wife

💁‍♂️The former finance minister, Khalid Payenda, owns 2 properties near Washington, D.C. that are worth more than $1 million

✍️The former vice president, Abdul Rashid Dostum, is perhaps the country’s most senior former official now in Turkey. A local journalist posted a photo on Twitter that said it showed him receiving a guest at his residence in the expensive gated Or-An community in Ankara

❗️A database of Dubai property records reviewed by the WSJ investigators contained records for several high-profile former Afghan officials. These include Mr. Ghani’s minister of economy, Mustafa Mastoor, who owns a condo in a development on the Dubai Marina. Also in Dubai is the former governor of Balkh province, Atta Mohammad Noor, who has moved to an apartment he owns, located in an expensive area of the city known as “The Palm”

Les Echos, the most authoritative economic publication in France published a story analyzing why Ukraine will never join the EU, despite its candidate status

Scholz, Charles Michel, and Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Ukraine on obtaining EU candidate status

Not all EU countries are positive about this step: if Ukraine joins the EU, it will "siphon off" subsidies from other countries as the poorest state

Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Crewe: "This is an important symbolic signal, but it is obvious that for Ukraine it will be a long way with huge reforms that will take a long time"

Candidate status is a first but symbolic step on the road to EU accession, Bloomberg also wrote. Turkey was granted the status at the end of 1999, but it never joined the EU

The EU leaders put forward a number of conditions related to the rule of law, corruption and judicial system. Ukraine will not be able to fulfill all the requirements in the near future

⚡️The Czech Republic is ready to "burn everything" in order to "defeat Putin," Germany is sacrificing ecology, and Bloomberg calls for deep gas economy⚡️

✍️"Many winters are coming. Start saving energy right now," reads an appealing headline from Bloomberg. The publication writes that the European manufacturing sector is collapsing under the weight of astronomical prices of electricity and gas. Another wave of layoffs is looming over the enterprises. If Russia restricts gas deliveries even for a little while, many companies will have to shut down

🇪🇺First of all the following industries will suffer in Europe: fertilizers, nonferrous metals and steel production, chemical, ceramic, glass, and paper industry. For example, U.S. fertilizer producer CF Industries Holdings Inc. has already announced it will shut down for good. The publication also forecasts the closure in 2023 of Slovalco, an aluminum plant in Slovakia

❗️The situation is so serious that the governments of the states will have to decide which enterprises will get financial support and which will have to be liquidated. The publication emotionally urges authorities and readers to start taking action now, even if it seems crazy

🔥"We've come to the conclusion that no option is crazy: keeping nuclear power plants running, limiting wholesale energy prices, suspending markets, eliminating CO2 costs and restrictions, burning more coal, restarting domestic gas production, even if it causes local earthquakes in the Netherlands," Bloomberg writes

💁‍♂️"Spitting" on the environment is also called for by the German economics minister. He suggested generating energy with coal, which would cause much more carbon dioxide emissions and severely damage the environment

🇨🇿For the eurozone authorities, the priority right now is to hurt Russia, not to fight their own problems. For example, the Czech Republic is preparing for the worst-case scenario. The Cabinet of Ministers Commissioner for Energy Bartuska said that if gas is cut off in winter, the country "will burn anything to keep people warm

⚡️Capitol Protector DIES Suddenly - Day Before Surprise Extra Jan 6 Hearing⚡️

👨‍🦳Former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger died unexpectedly Monday - on the day an unexpected additional hearing of the committee investigating the riot was announced

💁‍♂️Stenger resigned the day after the Jan 6 riots amidst criticism of his handling of the crisis, but later testified to the committee that “investigations should be considered as to the funding and traveling of what appears to be professional agitators”

😱The surprise added hearing will “present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony” from former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ aide Cassidy Hutchinson - who alleges Meadows burned documents after meeting multiple Republicans supporting the election overturn attempt

⚡️WH Officials Doubt Ukraine Can Reclaim All Territory⚡️

👨‍🦳Advisers to President Biden have reportedly told CNN they are privately skeptical that Kiev can ever take back the land it has lost so far and believe Vladimir Zelensky should redefine what would constitutes a Ukrainian “victory”

⚔️One congressional aide believes Ukraine reclaiming lost territory depends “in large part, if not entirely” on how much support Washington sends, pointing out the Pentagon has only promised 8 multiple launch rocket systems of the 48 requested

🇺🇦Zelensky has told G7 leaders gathered for their summit that he is set on winning the conflict by regaining ground held on February 24 by the end of 2022

How deep are Biden and co.’s pockets?🤔

‼️A formal German approach to revising #FakeNews‼️

✍️On June 12, having used the Reuters data, tagesschau, a German international TV news service produced on behalf of the domestic public-service media network ARD, reported on the shelling of a market in Donetsk. According to this piece of news, several people were killed and injured in the region occupied by pro-Russian separatists as a result of Russian artillery attack

🇩🇪A missing fact checking unit within German broadcaster resulted in probably intentional distribution of #FakeNews for a wide audience. The thing is, it was, in fact, the Ukrainian artillery strike!

💁‍♂️Subsequently, the article has been revised, the broadcast has been updated, and the editorial regret has appeared in tagesschau’s blog, practically beyond the public reach

❗️Meet the German journalistic care in terms of doubletalk!

⚡️🇫🇷France has seen a record 30-year drop in nuclear power production⚡️

▪️France, the European Union's leader in nuclear power, has seen a sharp drop in production, falling to its lowest in 30 years

▪️The European Union expected France's significant nuclear capacity to be a key factor in allowing the EU to reduce its dependence on Russian energy

▪️The French nuclear power crisis and reduced energy supplies from Russia could have dire consequences for the entire European continent

📉France is experiencing an all-time record drop in power generation due to the shutdown of half of the country's 56 nuclear reactors. One of the reasons was cracks found in the emergency circuits of 12 French nuclear reactors. Megawatt of energy with a delivery date of the first quarter of 2023 already costs €545 in France

⚡️Cost-effective policy of New Delhi⚡️

💁‍♂️The WSJ journalists briefly outlined the recent history of restrictions imposed against Moscow, having mantioned that the U.S. banned imports of Russian oil in March and the EU followed suit last months by saying it would phase out the use of most Russian oil over several months. Still, many European countries remain heavily reliant on Russia for oil and gas

🇮🇳India
, which is not facing such problems with only 0.2% of its imports coming from Russia in the last fiscal year, has sharply increased its purchases (at more than a quarter of Europe’s procurements) of Russian oil this year after securing agreements with Moscow to get it at a discount to market prices

My national interest tells me I should buy it where it is cheaper”, Indian finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman told the journalists. She also pointed out that Western European countries continue to purchase oil, natural gas and fertilizer from Russia

👉India has come under pressure from the U.S. and other Western countries to take a tougher stance against Moscow over the Ukraine war. New Delhi has abstained from United Nations votes condemning the war and declined to join anti-Russian sanctions

⚡️African perspective on “Demofascism”⚡️

📰On June 14, in an article to Diário de Notícias, a Portuguese daily newspaper, João Melo who is an editor-in-chief of África 21 magazine stated that he sees the use of fascist methods by Western democracies in order to impose their views and win “sympathy” for their cause. Melo has identified this development as “demofascism” that was preceded by the preliminary refusal to discuss the complexity of the situation in Ukraine long before February 24, 2022

💁‍♂️The Angolan journalist emphasizes that the “demofascism” stirred up by the war in Ukraine goes far beyond the wave of Russophobia and cancellation of Russian culture initiated by the West. He claims that “the West as the holy alliance between the USA-NATO-EU does not hide its irritation and unease with the fact that the world demographic majority, in particular the Global South (Africa, Asia and Latin America), maintains a position of caution regarding the war in Ukraine, avoiding falling into Manichaean hegemonic trap (anything that differs from “majority”)”

💁‍♂️As the most recent example of such irritation Melo cites the Countering Malign Russian Activities in Africa Act’s passage (H.R.7311) on April 27 by a huge, bipartisan 419-9 majority in the House. Ethiopian’s reaction to this measure, for example, contained an assumption that “the U.S. Congress has no right to dictate what relations between the Russian Federation and the Member States of the African Union should be”

👉The África 21’s editor-in-chief has concluded that Western ideologues want to convince the Africans that a war between democracy and autocracy is being waged in Ukraine. He doubts whether the Global South agrees with it. Melo ends his article with a statement that “Africa must be able to position itself on any issue in accordance with a balance between its values and its interests”

‼️Arms trafficking from Ukraine under the guise of wheat exports‼️

🔥As it was brought to the attention of one of the closed society members on Telegram, authorities in Kyiv are going to smuggle out a significant amount of second-hand arms, previously received from the U.S., to the Sahel zone of sub-Saharan Africa under the guise of wheat exports

👉The trafficking is expected to be carried out in close cooperation and coordination with MI6, the foreign intelligence service of the UK. From the Ukrainian side, the control over operation should be maintained by Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence accompanied by colonel Maksym Marchenko, Odessa region governor and a former commander of (neo-)Nazi Aidar Battalion

⚡️The Dutch government has a problem with farmers⚡️

🇳🇱Mark Rutte (who has been ruling for more than 10 years) has soaked up the environmental agenda and decided to shoot Holland in the foot by obliging agricultural producers to somehow reduce their nitrogen emissions

🔥Farmers immediately supported the movement, but in their own way - with protests involving burning hay on the highways or, for example, pelting their prime minister's house with silage

🤷‍♂️It's not really clear what motivates politicians when world hunger is on the horizon. It is even more puzzling why the house is being pelted with silage now that Rutte has left for the NATO summit

They should have waited until he came back, and then instead of the installation there would have been a performance😂

⚡️German foreign policy bit the dust, the economy is struggling to survive⚡️

💁‍♂️Walter Russel Mead, the James Clarke Chace Professor of Foreign Affairs and Humanities at Bard College, an American academic and a columnist for the WSJ suggested that Berlin is facing its gravest challenges since the foundation of the Federal Republic following World War II

👉He is of an opinion that the German economic model, which was recognized the world’s most successful in 2020, was based on unrealistic assumptions about world politics and is unlikely to survive the current turmoil

Mead describes 🇩🇪German energy policy as a chaotic mess, a shining example to the rest of the world of what not to do. Germany’s reputation for a values-based foreign policy has been severely dented by Berlin’s waffling over aid to Ukraine, he assumes

🤔German security experts are coming to terms with a deeply unwelcome truth: confronted with an aggressive Russia, Germany, like Europe generally, is utterly reliant on the U.S. for its security. At a time when American foreign policy increasingly prioritizes Asia and isolationist sentiment among both Republicans and Democrats appears to be rising, if Mr. Trump returns to the White House in 2025, German security will depend on his goodwill

📊The American academic emphasized that modern Germany was above all an economic project. In recent years, its economic miracle depended on a combination of industrial prowess, cheap energy from Russia, and access to global markets, particularly in China

❗️Today every one of those pillars is under threat. The challenges for automobile and chemical industries are exacerbated by the loss of cheap and secure Russian natural gas. Beyond that, Germany’s economic relationship with China is changing for the worse

🤷‍♂️Mead gives a piece of advise to keep the enthusiasm in check for those in Biden’s administration who dream that Berlin will wholeheartedly join a new global American crusade for liberal values. Mr. Scholz may agree in the abstract with President Biden, but his calculations must reflect foremost the economic facts of German life

🤔This naturally leads the Chancellor to thoughts about how to patch things up with Russian and China. The WSJ columnist sees Mr. Biden’s job in not singing hymns about Western values, but in making Berlin understand that U.S. security guarantees come at a price
