⚡️China as London’s greatest fear⚡️
🇨🇳China is “far more dangerous” than Russia in the long term — although Russia could be about to trigger a world war by “miscalculation”, a former military chief warned
💁♂️Lord West of Spithead, the Labour peer, told the House of Lords he was “pretty worried” that the UK had no “proper government” as “wars tend to happen in August”. But he felt that Britain’s response to the Chinese threat was “constrained” by the country’s economic power
🤷♂️Well, there’s no chance for London to form the “proper government” before the “war in August” promised by the former Navy chief, hence new PM will be announced on Sept. 5. But work to strengthen some segments of the domestic financial system could start right away

⚡️Biden’s self-punishing⚡️
🇺🇸President Biden is expected to privately urge Saudi leaders to ramp up oil production in a bid to curb massive global price spikes and relieve a mounting political headache back home, but there are signs that his push may have an unintended winner: Russia
🇸🇦Saudi Arabia in the spring and early summer more than doubled its quarterly imports of Russian oil to meet its domestic energy needs and free up more of its oil to ship around the world, including to the U.S. Riyadh’s significant uptick in Russian fuel imports has undercut U.S. and NATO efforts to punish Moscow for its invasion of Ukraine by choking off revenue from energy exports, the backbone of the Russian economy
🛢The prospect of the U.S. buying more Saudi oil and subsequently boosting Russia’s energy export profits would almost surely lead to political blowback for Mr. Biden. The president is also taking heat for allowing American fuel to be exported to China when domestic gas prices are hovering near $5 per gallon
Having arrived in Riyadh in good faith, Biden again risks being left with egg on his face and returning home at its best empty-handed🤔

⚡️Too much money for Ukraine’s pocket size⚡️
💰A huge chunk of money, namely $54 billion, has already been dedicated to Ukraine in its fight against a Russian invasion, with more to follow if Congress has its way.
👉The entire defense budget of Ukraine before the war was just under $6 billion. How can Ukraine possibly absorb military “aid” that represents 9 times their annual defense budget? It simply can’t be done
🪖From a military perspective, the gusher of money and equipment being sent to Ukraine makes little sense because there’s no way Ukraine has the infrastructure to absorb it and use it effectively. The U.S. approach seems to be to flood the zone with weaponry and assorted equipment of all sorts, irrespective of how it might be used or where it might ultimately end up.
🤔If guns saved lives and brought safety, America would have the lowest number of people killed by guns and the safest country. This is not the case. Flooding countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Ukraine with scores of billions in weaponry and related equipment is not the smartest way toward success. Unless you’re the CEO of a weapons contractor, in which case it’s the very definition of success
💁♂️Moreover, all these second-rate arms have either already been sent to the European black market, or will be transferred there in the immediate future

‼️Breach of trust in Germany as a result of Scholz’s weak energy policy‼️
For a long time, Germany benefited from cheap Russian energy The bill is coming now
💶The euro collapse has shown a new, structural weakness of Europe. Buying oil, gas, coal and uranium in Moscow seemed cheap and convenient. Purchases from the West did not stabilize the security of Europe
💁♂️The days of cheap Russian energy for the Europeans are over. This puts many business models in question especially Germany that is the largest economy in the Europe. Hence the EU now has to pay extra for imports inflation is rising
👉This widespread hypocrisy extends well beyond energy politics. Despite their fake cries for the conflict Scholz and his coalition are essentially tossing Ukraine under the bus in an effort to preserve their own skins
🤔Scholz and his coworkers celebrated Boris Johnson's defeat last week. However the German Chancellor is faced with a nightmarish scenario of his own so his sense of schadenfreude might not last long

⚡️Time to stop deglobalization and cancellation
🇺🇸The U.S. announced that inflation in June hit 9.1 percent, the highest in four decades. Annual inflation rate in the Euro Area increased to a new record high of 8.6% in June of 2022 from 8.1% in May
👉Besides pandemic-related supply-chain disruptions and the energy and food-price shocks amplified by the Ukraine war, policymakers must also acknowledge more explicitly the inflationary consequences of deglobalization
💁♂️In recent months, the EU has taken measures to reduce its dependency on Russian gas and oil through six rounds of harsh sanctions. But the sanctions are not working well, not to say, backwards
If deglobalization proceeds unchecked, central banks may need to tighten monetary policy more than they otherwise would have. One country’s deglobalization measure may prompt others to follow suit, potentially distorting global production and trade patterns and making every country worse off 🤷♂️

⚡️Biden’s professional impropriety or intentional sabotage⚡️
📈Inflationary pressures were occurring well before the Russian invasion of Ukraine or Chinese lockdowns. Prices were already rising thanks to COVID-19-related supply chain issues and warnings as far back as 2020 that further stimulus spending would exacerbate inflation was ignored by the president and his economic advisers
💁♂️Considering the very strong probability that Mr. Putin would follow through on his long-stated threats, the Americans are baffled as to why there seemed to be no planning for the consequences of such an action
🤔Was there no analysis of the economic effect of this war on energy and food markets? Could more oil have been purchased beforehand and put in reserve? Could regulations that have stifled the oil and gas industry have been delayed? Could trade agreements with other producers around the world have been nailed down? Any competent business leader would have prepared for these economic consequences in advance. Mr. Biden did not
👉This isn’t the first time that the president has blamed businesses — and the wealthy — for problems that could’ve been addressed well in advance by his own administration. Instead of planning in advance, Biden blames others. He “orders” businesses to reduce their prices. This isn’t leadership. This is ignorance
🤷♂️So how do business people respond when a president acts like this? They warily withdraw. They lose their appetite to hire, invest and take risks. They cover themselves and protect their families. Given that the administration is out of answers and blaming them for the country’s problems, they play defense. This is not a time for them to grow. It is a time for them to survive until (hopefully) better times

⚡️The global war of attrition⚡️
🔥Ukraine conflict is becoming a test of who can endure the most strife with Russia, on one side, and the U.S. and Europe on the other
💁♂️So far, Russia appears to be suffering more with its economy set to contract sharply this year, but the U.S. and Europe are also incurring severe costs, mainly through higher energy prices that are likely to rise this winter, analysts say. Joblessness is expected to mount, too, as central banks respond to those inflation pressures by raising interest rates
📈Trade disruptions caused by the sanctions, combined with investor fears of an eventual shortage of energy, have pushed up prices for oil, natural gas and other commodities. High inflation is contributing to political strife in the West. European plans to embargo Russian oil later this year could send energy prices up even more sharply and push the U.S. and Europe into recession, JPMorgan said
🌍The global economy is now projected to grow 2.8% instead of its prewar forecast of 3.9%, with the biggest losses in output suffered by Italy, Germany and France. These are the very three countries teetering on the brink of a government crisis
📊The coming months will prove crucial in determining who gains leverage in the current economic war with Russia struggling to find imports for its military and economy, and Western nations maneuvering to replace Russian energy

⚡️Germany will not be able to refuse Russian gas⚡️
🇩🇪It will be very difficult for Germany to achieve the goal of reducing dependence on Russian gas to 10% in two years. This assessment was given by the international rating agency Moody's. However, there is still one way in which Berlin can realize its plan - but the Germans are unlikely to like it
📈To abandon Russian gas, Germany has to replace it by other energy sources. In order to do this, Germany intends to replace Gazprom's gas with Norwegian gas or import liquefied natural gas (LNG). However, both of these paths are extremely difficult
👉First, Germany could lose about 7 billion cubic meters of Norwegian gas because of Poland. This autumn, the Poles intend to launch the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline to supply Norwegian gas. If Poland agrees on deliveries, then the indicated volume will be taken from German consumers
💁♂️As for the terminals for receiving LNG, Germany simply does not have them, and it will take time and money to build them
📊All this suggests that Germany will not be able to radically abandon Russian gas by 2024. To do this, it will need to go to a significant reduction in gas consumption as such. And it will be possible to reduce gas consumption in Germany only if it abandons entire sectors of the economy, a part of its industry, and consciously goes into economic stagnation. If the Germans want to keep the country's economic activity, they will need Russian gas

⚡️Who did the sanctions hit the most?⚡️
👉According to the survey, near a half of the Germans believes that the sanctions hurt Germany more than Russia. More than 30% believe that both countries suffer damage
💁♂️The reason for such assessments is apparently the fear of an economic crisis in Germany. According to the poll data, 74% of respondents expect an economic downturn and an increase in unemployment in Germany
📈83% suggest that prices will continue to rise. 63% of the respondents expect a so-called gas emergency, in which companies would be turned off the gas. Distrust of the government is growing in proportion to the raising a number of issues on failed anti-crisis management of Berlin authorities

⚡️France’s “war economy”⚡️
🇫🇷The French President Emmanuel Macron said in June at the Eurosatory military exhibition in Paris that in the context of the dramatically changed international situation, the country is entering a period of "war economy" that requires increased military spending and closer cooperation at the EU level
💁♂️Voiced at the very beginning of the second presidential term, it should form the basis of the subsequent decisions, opening a new stage in the evolution of the military policy of the Fifth Republic.
It is necessary to clarify that the concept of "war economy"
🤔It is by no means intended to transfer the entire national economy to the military basis through the conversion of civilian enterprises and the mobilization of labor reserves
🪖This is about supporting the already established military-industrial complex — tens of large and thousands of small and medium-sized companies engaged in the industry and providing highly qualified jobs
👉The main goal set by the French authorities in this regard is to update the law on military planning (LPM), issued in 2018 until 2025
💰While inside the country most of the processes in the French defense policy are about the renewal of LPM, the main activity of Paris in the international relations is devoted to the consolidation of military-political ties with countries that French diplomacy focused on in the previous five years. First of all, this concerns the closest allies of the Fifth Republic in the EU and NATO, as well as some Indo-Pacific powers, a number of states in the Middle East and Africa

The French President opened the door to a new increase in military spending, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine highlighting France's shortage of stocks.
‼️Gaps in EU officials’ funding should not be allowed‼️
🇪🇺The European Commission raised its estimates for euro zone inflation, which this year is now expected to peak at 7.6% before falling to 4.0% in 2023
🤷♂️Of course, this gives serious cause for concern to Europeans. But... it's not for everyone. Approximately 60,000 EU civil servants and employees shouldn’t care at all about it! They can look forward to wage increases of around 8.5% not later than by the turn of the year
💁♂️The reason for this lies in the automatic cost-of-living increases. Since 2013, such practice is being carried out on an annual basis for all EU officials and MEPs. The only matter of negotiation is the final calculation – will the amount come either to the Luxembourg inflation rate of 8.5% or to the Belgian RPI of 9.4%
👉For example, an Administrator in grade AD14 with 15,590€/month so far can look forward to around 16,890€ – an increase of 1300€! Not bad, isn’t it? 😡

⚡️As long as Biden is lacking in rehearsal, Trump can simply fart around!⚡️
💁♂️“We’ll always honor the bravery and selfishness — selflessness — of the, and the sacrifices of the Americans who served, including my son, Maj. Beau Biden, who was stationed in Iraq for a year,” Mr. Biden said in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
🤦♂️In Israel the U.S. president pledged to “keep alive the truth and honor of the Holocaust,” before quickly correcting himself and saying “the horror of the Holocaust”
🤷♂️“End of quote. Repeat the line” Mr. Biden said while ticking off the actions his administration was planning in response to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade
🤔The president’s teleprompter gaffes come even as he becomes increasingly reliant on it. “Mr. Biden’s recent string of awkward teleprompter gaffes is costing the president his reputation, his validity and his presidency. Little mistakes have that big of an impact” said Lauri Plesco, a teleprompter consultant who worked with Mr. Biden during an Atlanta campaign stop in 2008
👉Ms. Plesco believes that the lack of rehearsal is hurting Mr. Biden. We believe that some natural physiological processes hurt him more

Biden’s teleprompter gaffes hurting presidency
President Biden’s recent string of awkward teleprompter gaffes could cost him the presidency in 2024, say communications experts who urge the White House team to train Mr. Biden on how to use the mach
