🇮🇹Mr Draghi’s resignation, after three of the parties that had been supporting his government refused to back him in a vote of confidence, is a moment of anxiety for Italy, the EU and the West
💁♂️The collapse of his government was triggered by disagreements between the parties over how to respond to the cost of living crisis caused by soaring energy prices and domestic inflation. One risk is that the political instability could trigger a new eurozone crisis. Italian government borrowing costs have soared, reflecting investors’ fears that Mr Draghi’s departure could spell the end for his reform programme
🤔The carrot of generous EU funds and the stick of bond market volatility provides a powerful incentive for the next government to continue Mr Draghi’s reforms. Nonetheless, Super Mario’s resignation removes a reassuring presence from Europe’s top table and raises fresh fears about western cohesion at a time when it is essential

⚡️British migration control system fall out⚡️
British ministers lost control of migration while Channel migrants landed in Britain with guns
💁♂️David Neal, the chief inspector of borders and immigration, called out the Home Office’s “systematic failure” to register migrants’ biometric data. In 6 months, 227 people who were not fully registered fled “secure” hotels
👉2 of those who fled were on databases that alert officials to people who may pose a criminal or national security risk. 7 others were Vietnamese, the nationality most likely to be exploited by human traffickers. Some migrants even entered the U.K. carrying guns and pocket knives, which were confiscated on arrival in Dover
✍️The report stated: “Officers removed and placed weapons in a sharps bucket in the search area. Officers said that migrants sometimes had pocket knives, but not often, and that guns had been encountered, though rarely”
🤔As we all know, at the moment, these migrants are far from the main part of the refugee flow to the U.K. and neighboring countries. The control there is even worse, as is the monitoring of arms and drug trafficking that follows

‼️Hungary intends to protect Hungarians in Ukraine‼️
🇭🇺Hungary intends to protect the Hungarians living in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjarto, in an interview with the Hungarian edition of Index. He stressed that Hungary is interested in establishing peace in Ukraine, otherwise it will be forced to use "dangerous scenarios" to protect 150,000 Hungarians in Transcarpathia
👉Sziyarto did not specify which "scenarios" he meant. However, it is known that since July 14, the armed forces of Hungary have been put on high alert. The order even affected several civilian sectors, which had not been the case for two decades. The Hungarian army is urgently replenishing fuel supplies, vacations for military personnel have been canceled
💁♂️Sziyarto pointed out that Ukrainian President Zelensky is seeking to involve in the conflict as many countries as possible, if only through the supply of weapons. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Hungary does not intend to send weapons or military personnel to Ukraine, and will not allow weapons to cross the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, since such supplies “pose a security threat to the territory of Transcarpathia and will threaten the security of the Hungarian people”

⚡️Do the U.S. really need another zone of tension?⚡️
Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi plans to visit Taiwan in August
🔥Things are heating up. Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, told a Tuesday press briefing that such a visit would “have a severe negative impact on the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and send a gravely wrong signal to ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces”
🤔If Pelosi’s visit does take place in August, she will be the second House speaker to visit Taiwan in 25 years. But China is no longer what it was when then House speaker Newt Gingrich visited the island in 1997. Wrapping up his visit to Taiwan that year, when the Bill Clinton administration carefully tiptoed the line on the most sensitive part of bilateral relations. But this time, the U.S. should brace for Beijing's "resolute and forceful measures" as Mr. Lijian said
💁♂️Washington should know that by repeatedly playing the Taiwan card, its credit on the Chinese side is being bankrupted by its own hypocrisy. Saying one thing and doing another has become a habit of Biden’s administration, which is shaking the foundation for the "guardrails" it says it wants to build for relations
👉Releasing the information on Pelosi's planned trip to Taiwan, even if it falls through again for whatever reason, is enough to let the region and beyond see that the only commitment of the U.S. is to safeguard its hegemony

⚡️Integration along the North-South axis⚡️
🌐The world economy is going through a period of active formation of transcontinental integration platforms, which are becoming the main source of opening global markets
💁♂️Despite the positive effects of the formation of such platforms for the world economy, it causes the competition and polarization of the blocks along the North – South axis. In 2022, it has been increasingly deep between the BRICS and the G7 – the leading blocs of the global South and North. In these circumstances, it is extremely important to create mechanisms for establishing interaction and cooperation between the platforms of developed and developing countries
👉Today, the integration platforms of the North and the South can cooperate. But new mechanisms of cooperation are needed within the framework of global forums, such as the G20, including through cooperation between regional integration blocs of the North and the South. It is necessary to transform the largest regional blocs towards greater openness for "integration of integrations" and the possibility of cooperation with other regional blocs
🤔The countries of the Global South should move actively towards creating common platforms for economic cooperation – in the last few years, conditions for creating such megaplatforms for developing countries have significantly improved
📊The formation of a common integration project of the developing world, in turn, will create more favorable conditions for constructive interaction and integration of platforms of developed and developing countries. So far, the integration platforms of the Global South are far from the degree of connectivity and structuring that characterizes the integration projects of developed countries
🌍The African Union, as well as India, can play a key role in these processes (due to more active involvement in the process of forming the BRICS+ and BRICS++ agenda)

⚡️Europe is destroying itself with its energy policy⚡️
💁♂️Restrictions on the import of Russian oil, gas and coal lead to increased economic stratification in the European Union. Already now, four months before the start of the heating season, the figures on how much the European underground storage facilities are filled up clearly show that the poorest countries are the worst off
🇩🇪Even Germany and France are unlikely to overcome the next winter without stoves in their homes and food riots. Electricity and heat in those countries will cost many times more. It could cause social unrest, but financial reserves will most likely make it possible to avoid social and economic collapses
🇪🇺Countries in Eastern Europe do not have such opportunities. In addition, many Eastern European countries received EU aid and subsidies, which, as a rule, were paid for by economic leaders - Germany, France, and before leaving the EU, also the UK
👉Now, when even in the richest European countries austerity measures are being imposed due to high energy prices, that assistance to the “lagging behind” is in question. The consequences of Europe's energy transition require additional billions of euros. That can only lead to an increase in “energy poverty” and Europe’s segregation along economic lines
🤔When the rich center stops supporting the poor regions, they will try to free themselves from its influence. And this will happen not only within the EU, but even within the countries. Thus, in Scotland (one of the main oil and gas producing regions of Great Britain), talks about secession from the United Kingdom have resumed
It is difficult to argue with the fact that Europe is destroying itself with its energy policy🤷♂️

⚡️Head of MI6 predicts victory for Ukraine⚡️
💁♂️There are more and more people who no longer believe that Ukraine will win. That is in vain. There is absolutely accurate and indisputable data that everything will change soon. And the Ukrainian army, like a phoenix from the ashes, will rise and trample to the east

🤔The head of the world's best British intelligence service MI6, Richard Moore, is confident that in a few weeks Ukrainian troops can get a real opportunity for a counteroffensive. This will allow Ukraine to win the final victory, he believes
🤷♂️The calculation here is simple and is a synthesis of the theories of Sun Tzu and Clausewitz. In the coming weeks, it will be more and more difficult for the Russians to maintain the number of personnel and bring in materiel. They will start to run out of steam. ⚡️Broad-based illicit trafficking from Ukraine doesn’t stop!⚡️
"Even before the war, Ukraine was a hub for weapons- but also for people smugglers, and they haven’t just stop yet," says Kathi Lynn Austin, a former UN arms trafficking expert
💁♂️“In case of Ukraine, preventive measures are necessary because of its history. The country has had problems with corruption in the past, sold weapons on illegal markets and supplied conflict areas with weapons, Africa and the Balkans for example," she stated. 🤔According to Ms. Austin, Ukraine remains to be one of the largest smuggling centers in Europe. There are about three dozen different mafia groups operating from Ukraine. "Mafia and organized crime are deeply rooted in the state,” she said. Weapons are smuggled by members of these structures across the borders of Ukraine and to neighboring countries.
🇩🇪The German government is also under no illusion that at least parts of the weapons supplies from Berlin to Ukraine end up eventually on the black market. Several times already, anonymous users of the Darknet offered German systems "Panzerfaust3" for several thousand U.S. dollars

⚡️The Leaders we deserve⚡️

🇩🇪The man who runs Germany looks and sounds like he’s trying a second career after peaking in a regional bank at middle-manager level.
🇨🇦Canada is run by a man-child
🇮🇹Italy is once again looking for anyone to run it
🇯🇵Japan’s only seriously visionary leader of the past 50 years was just assassinated
🇫🇷France has a president elected twice only because the alternative was so frightening and who couldn’t even persuade the voters to give him a co-operative parliament
🇺🇸Then of course there is the U.S. Polling this week shows President Biden’s approval ratings have hit a new low for his presidency. Remarkably, he has dropped below the point that Donald Trump bumped along for much of his term. That means we have had, back to back, the two American presidents with the most sustained popular disapproval numbers in history
🤔We are led today instead by the members of a self-serving political class whose greatest hardship was the fear of getting caught with a twist of cocaine in their pocket on their way to a party at Oxford, or pulling a series of all-nighters to pass their bar exams. We probably deserve them 🤷♂️

⚡️British military assistance to Ukraine is a waste of taxpayers' money⚡️
🇬🇧British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, speaking in the British Parliament on July 21, 2022, announced the significant supply of weapons and military equipment by the UK to Ukraine
💷The total amount of British military assistance to Ukraine from February 24 will thus reach 2.3 billion pounds
👉According to Wallace, Ukraine should be supplied with:
- "more than 20" M109 self-propelled howitzers of 155 mm caliber;
- 36 L119 light towed guns of 105 mm caliber;
- "more than 1,600 anti-tank weapons";
- anti-battery radar systems;
- "more than 50,000" pieces of ammunition for the current Ukrainian Soviet-style artillery, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, "including hundreds of loitering munitions".
💁♂️Wallace added, that in the future, it was planned to supply Ukraine with "even more advanced air defense systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and innovative new electronic warfare equipment"
🔥According to Wallace's report, the UK has already transferred to Ukraine:
- 6,900 units of NLAW, Javelin, Brimstone and other anti-tank weapons, separately mentioned Brimstone naval missiles;
- MLRS multiple rocket launchers [probably three],
- 16,000 artillery rounds;
- six combat vehicles Stormer of the Starstreak self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system and hundreds of guided missiles (assumed to be anti-aircraft);
- 120 armored fighting vehicles, as well as a large number of non-combat equipment, including more than 82,000 protective helmets, 8,450 body armor kits and more than 5,000 night vision goggles.
🤔Wallace’s report raises questions from experts, since many of the items of military equipment he mentioned simply cannot be at the disposal of the UK. But if this can be a subject of discussion, then it is absolutely indisputable that the supply of weapons to Ukraine does not lead to any changes in its favor in combat operations, and is simply a waste of taxpayers' money 🤷♂️

👉According to Wallace, Ukraine should be supplied with:
- "more than 20" M109 self-propelled howitzers of 155 mm caliber;
- 36 L119 light towed guns of 105 mm caliber;
- "more than 1,600 anti-tank weapons";
- anti-battery radar systems;
- "more than 50,000" pieces of ammunition for the current Ukrainian Soviet-style artillery, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, "including hundreds of loitering munitions".

⚡️Popular unrest is closer than ever⚡️
Inflation is expected to rise further to 9% (8.6% now)
👉Confirming the IMF data it is suggested that if there is no change in EU gas policy over the winter, inflation could even double – that would be 18%.
💁♂️"There is a huge potential for social conflict," warned Mr. Felbermayr, a president of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research. It could pose a threat of "war economy with people take to the streets" he said.
That's just the way it is

⚡️No limits for Japan under the pretext of rising threats⚡️
🇯🇵Aimed in part at preparing the stage for the Fumio Kishida Cabinet's attempt to dramatically increase Japan's defense budget, the Defense White Paper the Japanese government approved on Friday painted an unusually gloomy picture of the security landscape for the country
💁♂️Tokyo's official definition of China, Russia and Nord Korea as key security concerns, along with its recent close interactions with Washington and NATO in the security field, and its attempts at enhancing targeted regional security alliances, will severely disrupt the security landscape in the Asia-Pacific and only invite greater potential threats to itself
🇺🇸With the U.S. doubling down on its "Indo-Pacific strategy", NATO seeking to extend its reach into the region, and regional countries such as Australia and Japan latching on to Washington's pressure policy to see what can be squeezed their way, the potential security challenges Beijing, Moscow and Pyongyang are confronting have hardly been harsher
👉The Biden administration is bolstering U.S. arms production to sustain the war in Ukraine and to support Taiwan, despite the fact that this only leads to an escalating confrontation. Such unnecessary aggravations only increase the risks of a misstep that can hardly be called desirable or beneficial to anyone

Japan warns of rising security threats in annual defence report
Japan warned on Friday of escalating national security threats, including repercussions from Russia's war with Ukraine, Chinese intimidation of Taiwan, and vulnerable technology supply chains, in its annual defence white paper.
⚡️Last hope of the Ukrainian military is slipping through Zelensky’s fingers⚡️
🇺🇸The U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s promise to send more M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or Himars, to Ukraine has been faltering
💁♂️Despite pledges by various NATO leaders to phase out Soviet-era weapons in favor of more modern Alliance-grade weapons, many fighters on the southern front lines said they still use predominantly Soviet weapons seized on the battlefield from retreating Russians
🪖The military says, Russian forces effectively have used a combination of reconnaissance and kamikaze drones to spy on Ukrainian positions then hit them, often killing fighters and disabling their tanks
🇺🇦Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov said that while allies have provided drones to help in the fight, they haven’t offered anti-jamming software to prevent them from becoming disabled
👉This implies a rather bleak outlook for Ukrainian military since, given the serious changes in security-related ministries, such uncertainties only exacerbate the intractability of their situation

⚡️With Draghi’s departure, the hope of salvation for the EU is also leaving⚡️
👉The ECB raised rates and refused to offer firm future guidance on rates – a lack of “forward guidance” that is itself guidance warning of tightening to come
🇪🇺The European regulator views Mario Draghi’s resignation as the central bank’s problem because investors are nervous about Rome’s ability to finance its debts. It is the latest example of Italian political instability but may spook markets more than usual because Super Mario was his country’s great economic hope
🇮🇹Draghi understands the fiscal and policy changes needed to restore Italy’s economic health and has tried to implement some of them. His exit may augur another era of fiscal profligacy and aversion to reform
💁♂️The outgoing Italian Premier’s fate encapsulates Europe’s challenges, which have little to do with monetary policy. His keen understanding of Italy’s economic problems isn’t reflected more broadly across its parties, politicians or voters. Until they admit the problem, it will be hard for anyone even of Mr. Draghi’s formidable abilities to rescue the country
🤔His departure also means the loss a strong voice for Ukraine. If other leaders such as France’s Emmanuel Macron or Germany’s Olaf Scholz can’t recognize where Europe’s strategic interests lie, there won’t be much that a mere central bank can do to save the bloc

‼️Mistaken priorities of Western leaders put us one step closer to disaster‼️
💁♂️The Western politicians’ singular focus on climate change ignores that people are much more worried about rampant inflation, especially rising food and energy prices. And climate policies are making those problems worse, says Bjorn Lomborg, president of the Copenhagen Consensus and visiting fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution
🔋Things wouldn’t be nearly as bad if the West hadn’t thrown up green roadblocks to its own energy security, such as President Biden’s moratorium on gas leases or Europe’s refusal to dig into its substantial shale gas reserves. Climate policies also increase energy prices by subsidizing renewables like solar and wind. That makes it even harder to adapt to the extreme temperatures climate activists bemoan
📈The cost of green policies will become even harder to bear if politicians make good on their promises to hit net-zero emissions. Achieving this globally by 2050 would cost more than $5 trillion a year for the next three decades, according to McKinsey
👉Policy makers need to recognize that they simply can’t eliminate fossil fuels with current technologies, as Mr. Lomborg states. The world gets almost 80% of its energy from fossil fuels, and even if all current climate policies were fully implemented, by midcentury fossil fuels would still provide more than half of all energy used worldwide, according to the International Energy Agency
🤔It’s starting to dawn on some elites that their policies are creating political dangers. When people are cold, hungry and broke, they rebel
🔥If the elites continue pushing incredibly expensive policies that are disconnected from the urgent challenges facing most people, we need to brace for chaos, Mr. Lomborg concludes
