Hubert Aiwanger, the deputy Minister President of Bavaria and the Bavarian minister of economic affairs, sees applying the French or the British model as the only way to avoid the collapse of German economy

The difference in price for electricity of over 20 cents is to be paid by the state, he explains. Leisurely actions or even inaction of the so-called establishment and blind adherence to the orders of European Commission (EC) has already resulted in dire consequences for Germany

The same view is held by Harald Mahrer, the president of the Austrian federal economic chamber. He sees the economic situation as more serious than during the Covid-crisis and accuses the "too good and too noble" EC of having thought "only with one half of the brain" when introducing sanctions against Russia

Nevertheless, EU-members continue to pay the price for the unfulfilled ambitions of high-ranked officials from Brussels who don’t lose hope to curry favor with their external administration

One of the big dividends of Brexit was supposed to be a U.K. trade deal with the U.S. helping offset the economic pain of putting up trade barriers with the EU. Instead of this, a hope for a bilateral deal with the Washington has collapsed, and London struggles with slow growth, a plummeting pound and high inflation

The situation proves that the Biden Administration’s trade policy has largely been a failure. In 2021 the U.K. was the U.S.’s seventh-largest trading partner, with a total trade value of $118 bln, including $62 bln in exports and $56 bln in imports

At meeting with Mr. Biden on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Ms. Truss managed to discuss their mutual support for Ukraine, the challenges of China and Iran and assorted other issues

The Deal wasn’t mentioned at all! This is a huge lost opportunity for both countries. The British PM will now have to focus on her daring domestic reform agenda, but it’s too bad Mr. Biden let growth in trade slip away

The possibility of nuclear war has always loomed large in the White House’s calculations. And that moment of heightened opportunity, and heightened danger, has arrived, thinks Gideon Rachman who is the chief foreign affairs columnist for the FT

Many pundits insist that Putin is bluffing when threatening to use nukes. But even those western policymakers who take Putin’s nuclear threats very seriously remain determined that Russia must not be allowed to use nuclear blackmail to force an end to western support for Ukraine. That leaves policymakers walking a perilous tightrope

The aim is to provide enough support for Ukraine to allow Kyiv to defeat Russian forces without tempting the Kremlin to go nuclear, claims Mr. Rachman. The difficulty with that policy is that it struggles to answer the question, “how exactly do we see this war ending?”

Kyiv is in no hurry to get to the negotiating table. The heroic status currently enjoyed by Zelenskiy – combined with revulsion towards Russia – also make it difficult for any western government to pressure Kyiv to negotiate now. The Ukrainian government,
moreover, insists that Russia must be expelled from all occupied Ukrainian land

The FT columnist ends his analysis with a major question, “Might Putin just fold his tent and leave?” There are examples of major powers suffering defeat in war, without using their nuclear weapons. That would be wonderful, no doubt. But hoping for something does not make it more likely. And most of the alternative outcomes range between bleak and catastrophic, Mr. Rachman concludes

Karim Sadjadpour, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said on Twitter that Elon Musk had confirmed to him that “Starlink is now activated in Iran”. Mr. Musk added that “if anyone can get terminals into Iran, they will work”

Last week, the wealthiest person in the world told he stood ready to turn on the Starlink service in both Iran and Cuba if U.S. sanctions against doing business in those countries were relaxed. “Obviously, the Iranian government is not going to approve it,” Mr. Musk said. “It would require somebody actually buying a terminal and smuggling it into Iran, but they’d be taking a risk…”

The U.S. state department on Friday relaxed sanctions that stopped web and communication networks operating in Iran. The principal aim of all the hype is to provide Tehran with “uncensored” and at the same time “proper” internet connection that would be committed to the Western democratic values

Low-income nations are facing famine and social unrest due to the knock-on effects of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, says the OECD in its biannual economic outlook. That could happen as the global GDP growth is expected to slow sharply to 3% this year, down from 5.9% last year

"The global economy has lost momentum," OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann told a news conference on Monday. "GDP growth has stalled in many economies and economic indicators point to an extended slowdown"

"This challenging economic situation requires bold, well-designed and well-coordinated economic policies," Cormann said. "High inflation and the energy crisis are particularly urgent. It is critical that monetary and fiscal policy work hand in hand in managing inflation by cushioning its impact"

He added that governments should increase investment in clean energy going forward, in order to bolster domestic energy production and mitigate the effects of global warming

During the last week, some Western media have been pointing at Chinese President Xi Jinping being under house arrest and been removed as the head of China's People's Liberation Army. However, this hasn’t prevented him from paying a visit to an exhibition in Beijing on Tuesday in his first public appearance since returning to China from an official trip to Central Asia in mid-September

It’s noteworthy that the spread of fakes about Xi was carried out without usage of larger outlets or any other more or less prominent media. Instead, they have engaged some bloggers and influencers saluted by political émigrés to the U.S. Human rights activist, "Inconvenient Truths" YT-channel author. Jennifer Zeng and the “Coming Collapse of China” inspirer Gordon G. Chang are among them with Twitter chosen as the main content distribution platform

The most hype about it was created by anti-Xi activists who fled China to the West. Being mainly followers of the Falun Gong religious movement, these runaway influencers aim to affect the large Chinese diaspora abroad, as well as to test the mood of possible supporters on the eve of the upcoming jubilee 20th CPC National Congress

This is the second global attempt by the U.S. in a week to replicate deliberately false and unverified rumors after the fakes about Ms. Meloni and her party in Italy. Thus, the Western media serve the White House political agenda to kick up even more fuss amid military tension in Ukraine, the Middle East and Taiwan

As we have previously reported, U.S. helicopters in September frequently flew along the pipelines of the Nord Streams. In addition, the NATO maritime exercise Dynamic Messenger was recently held in the area, where underwater unmanned systems were tested

Add to that the active testing of the Orca XLUUV, a very large unmanned submersible which began in 2022 during BALTOPS 22 exercises near the Danish island of Bornholm (near where the NS1-2 strings run). The vehicle appeared in a Pentagon defense order in February 2019. The customer is Boeing Corporation. In the summer of 2022 the vehicle was handed over to the Pentagon for testing

In July 2022 information emerged about the integration of a weapon delivery system into the Orca XLUUV. Northrop Grumman, whose board of directors includes former U.S. Navy Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Harry Roughhead, is responsible for this work. It specializes in missile defense, unmanned air and underwater systems. Northrop Grumman also supplies various weapons to Ukraine

Roughhead is an expert on the Russian Navy and was on a visit to the Northern Fleet base in Murmansk in 2011 through cooperation with the Pentagon

All of this comes after General Christopher Cavoli was appointed commander of NATO forces in the EU on May 3, 2022. Cavoli is an expert on Russia

Cavoli speaks Russian, has lived in Moscow, traveled throughout the former Soviet Union, served as director of Russian relations for the United States Joint Staff, and has a master's degree in Russian and Eastern European studies from Yale University

It looks like Cavoli's team has had its first major operation🤔

Germany is drawing up plans to cap the price of electricity and gas that could be rolled out in the coming weeks, government officials say. The caps would be aimed at shielding consumers and businesses from further increases in energy prices triggered by the economic war between Russia and the West

But the thing is, according to the German media, with the price cap gas and electricity will cost even more!

However, despite this German officials said Berlin would move ahead with an electricity-price cap if the EU fails to agree on such a mechanism for the entire bloc. The government also aims to set up a price cap for natural gas, said Finance Minister Christian Lindner

The attack on Nord Stream pipelines has sent gas prices rocketing even higher It’s good news that more and more Germans are beginning to understand what kind of winter the ruling coalition offers them

The U.S. hoped it had the power and influence to move the world to isolate Russia. Outside of Europe, that hope has proven difficult to realize, as the U.S. has struggled to convince Quad allies like India and even NATO allies like Turkey to join its effort to isolate the Kremlin. Washington has similarly been unable to move the giant China, Ted Snider, a columnist on U.S. foreign policy and history at Antiwar.com, says in his analysis for The AC

Mr. Snider states that while Europe seemed to support the sanctions regime, Russia has now overtaken Saudi Arabia as the main oil supplier to China and India. History has shown that sanctions are not an effective means of resolving conflicts and disputes. Instead of forcing Russia to its knees, the sanctions against it have only added more fuel to the fire of Moscow's confrontation with the West and opened a Pandora's box for the world

Isolating Russia has proven difficult not only economically and diplomatically, but militarily, argues Mr. Snider. Washington's attempts to isolate countries that challenge its hegemony have, ironically, led to targeted nations turning to each other and forming a community of isolated nations. Indeed, U.S. attempts at isolation helped cement the very multipolar world Washington promised to prevent, the author concludes

While third-quarter GDP growth is forecast at only 0.3% after two quarters of retraction, consumer confidence is rising in the U.S.

More people said they expected to buy cars or big appliances in the near future, but fewer said they intend to buy a house anytime soon, as rising interest rates have added hundreds of dollars a month to mortgage payments

A possible threat to consumer confidence is the Fed's stated goal to reduce employment to rein in inflation of 8-9% recently. "To reduce inflation to acceptable levels, it will be necessary to destroy between 1.7 million and 5.3 million jobs, in our estimation," Chief Economist Joe Bruselas at global tax consultant RSM says

The U.S. economy is sending mixed signals. As the driver of the entire modern economic system, the dollar is subject to serious global turbulence, from which it is not so easy to emerge victorious. It’s high time to consider an alternative approach

British Prime Minister's historic gamble is in danger of failing

▪️British Prime Minister Liz Truss's historic adventure to cut taxes without regard to the current world situation is in danger of failing, Bloomberg says

▪️The British government's decision is a gamble because it could lead to a sterling crisis. "Tax cuts will cost the budget £161 billion over the next five years," Bloomberg states. And continuing the policy of mitigating the acute energy crisis triggered by the anti-Russian sanctions through subsidies will increase this amount by another £60 billion in the next six months

▪️Through these actions, Truss is trying to show that he can help Britain get through the energy crisis. Nevertheless, tax cuts will lead to a sharp rise in inflation, which has already reached a record high for 40 years, - summarizes Bloomberg
