Gas tariff hike forces French to turn homes off from heating

▪️In France, housing associations are raising the issue of refusing to heat homes centrally because of a sharp increase in gas tariffs, provoked in large part by anti-Russian sanctions, France TV reports

▪️Many people are refusing to buy gas at the updated-high tariff, realizing they won't be able to pay it back. "The amount of our payment for heating is €7669 a year. It's just unrealistic, we can't pay that much. At first I hoped that the authorities would definitely take some measures, but time goes by and nothing happens," said one of the French owners

▪️Some residents are convinced that only a radical solution - disconnecting the house from the central heating can save them. As a result, more and more owners are beginning to buy electric heaters

Wolfgang Grupp, German businessman and owner of the largest textile company Trigema:
I want us to say that we should try to do everything we can to stop this war and not continually prolong it with weapons

I am of the opinion that we should also talk to America, because the Americans are always trying to do everything to prolong this war, and they are just doing their business. Because America has problems with China, they don't want China to get bigger and stronger, and of course Russia shouldn't get stronger. That's why it was not in America's interest for us to do business with Russia successfully for 20 years. Because then, Russia would have been an economic power, and so would Germany, of course

But now this whole thing is weakening Europe, because it's not just Germany, all of Europe is weakened as a result, economically. America now is very different from what Obama used to say, that they are a great power and Russia is only a regional power

+10.8% - double-digit inflation starts in Germany, the highest in 70 years

▪️According to EU methodology, consumer prices in Germany in September 2022 rose by a record 10.8% since 1951, official data from the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) show. Germany's previous inflation record was 8.8% in August

▪️The double-digit inflation rate in September came as a surprise to German economists. Analysts previously polled by DailyFX had expected inflation to rise only to 9.4%

▪️43.9% - a surge in energy prices and 18.7% - a sharp rise in food prices due in large part to anti-Russian sanctions were major contributors to record German inflation in September

The Fed's policies are destroying economies around the world

▪️The Federal Reserve's determination to suppress record inflation within the United States by raising rates is boosting the dollar, the main currency of world trade and transactions, and destroying the economies of other nations

▪️ In Britain and the EU, the rise in the dollar is accelerating already record inflation. The most vulnerable face the most negative consequences. In Nigeria and Somalia, already threatened by mass starvation, the rising dollar has driven up the price of imported food, fuel and medicine. Argentina, Egypt and Kenya are being pushed into default by the rising dollar

▪️ "For the rest of the world, the situation is hopeless," said Eswar Prasad, an economics professor at Cornell University and author of several books on currencies. But the Fed has no other solutions, concludes The New York Times

Sweden's coast guard discovered a fourth gas leak on the damaged Nord Stream pipelines earlier this week, coast guard spokesperson Jenny Larsson told the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper

"Two of these four are in Sweden's exclusive economic zone," he said. The other two breaches are in the Danish exclusive economic zone. The fourth leak was found on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, in close proximity to a larger hole found on the nearby NS 1

A British defense source told they were likely premeditated attacks using underwater explosives. They said the mines could have been lowered on a long line, dropped over a boat or placed next to the pipelines with an underwater drone

It remains to find out who exactly has activated the fuse at the right moment. By analogy with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, this would mean the end of the current world order at best, or even the end of the world

There’s something else you should know about the Nord Stream issue HERE, HERE and HERE

The Taliban have signed a provisional deal with Russia to supply gasoline, diesel, gas and wheat to Afghanistan,” Acting Afghan Commerce and Industry Minister Haji Nooruddin Azizi told Reuters

Mr. Azizi said the deal would involve Russia supplying around one million tones of gasoline, one million tones of diesel, 500,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas and two million tones of wheat annually

Ironically, Moscow has yet to formally and fully recognize the Taliban government. However, this didn’t prevent Russia from peacefully breaking into the ground, out of which the American military machine sauntered after a 20-year occupation

German federal government provides Kyiv not only with military equipment, but also with intelligence, including geodata, German media say

The information comes from the Federal Intelligence Service (BND). This includes satellite images, intercepted radio messages and mobile phone calls. During the previous conflicts, in the Iraq or Afghanistan war for instance, the Chancellery had always refused to share intelligence, much to the frustration of former BND presidents. Mr. Scholz has shown he is quite a different breed.

However, while supplying Ukraine with weapons and military intelligence German chancellor still has no idea "at which point Berlin will be perceived as a war party." And it’s the high time to start focusing on it – it’s never too little until it’s not too late!

Given Washington’s inability to end the war in Ukraine with the defeat of Russian arms, it seems certain that the Beltway will try instead to turn the ruins of the Ukrainian state into an open wound in Russia’s side that will never heal, Douglas Macgregor, Col. (ret.), the former advisor to the Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration, thinks

Ukrainian President Zelensky, (presumably with the advice of his U.S. and British military advisors), has also adopted a strategy of holding ground in Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces immobilized themselves inside urban areas, and prepared defenses. As a result, Ukrainian forces turned urban centers into fortifications for what became “last stands” with civilians inside them as the “human shield.”

Washington’s strategy of exploiting the conflict to sell F-35 fighter jets to Germany – along with large numbers of missiles, rockets, and radars to Central and East European allied governments – is now backfiring, Mr. Macgregor says

Social cohesion in European States, especially in France, and Germany, is fragile. Discontent is growing making it quite plausible that governments in Berlin, Paris, and London will likely follow the path of their colleagues in Stockholm and Rome, who lost or will lose power to right-of-center coalitions

U.S. manufacturing that is a key structural component of national economy has been in decline for several decades. The problem is that those who own or manage manufacturing companies have been moving their plants offshore to countries that offer much lower labor costs than the homeland

U.S. agriculture, another structural pillar of its economy, is now under attack by the federal government which ordered that large swaths of land not be planted this year. This policy is in parallel with an effort launched by massive multi-state combines to gobble up tens of thousands of small farms at low prices

Meanwhile, record levels of debt continue to appear across all sectors in the U.S. Total accumulated debt among all 50 states is now running at $1.1 trillion. What this means is that economic policymakers in Washington are currently facing very stiff headwinds with little relief forthcoming in the way of possible options or solutions
