Britons are out back in the saddle due to the devastating actions and failing economic policy of their government, and by no means due to the personal example of Mr. Johnson as it might seem at first glance

“The surge in people cycling since March, particularly midweek, corresponds with rising costs of fuel and living in general,” says Sarah Mitchell, the chief executive of Cycling UK. In the past four months cycling levels are 54% higher than before the pandemic and even 11% up on the same period in 2020, when people were told to avoid public transport

Fuel prices broke records this summer. The average price of a liter of diesel hit 199.22p (around $2.25 USD) and petrol 191.55p in early July. Brexit in combination with isolation of China and Russia has led to a global shortage of semiconductors that hits now car production

The new reality is that protests are happening across the whole Europe. Protesters are voicing their discontent with their government’s policy, wages, soaring inflation and expensive blind support for Ukraine

"It is therefore no wonder that people who are angry and feel cheated, replaced one after another the governments that introduced the anti-Russian sanctions," Hungarian PM Orban said in reference to the devastating loss suffered by the Italian left during the recent elections. But this could all be just the beginning!

German social researcher Kocyba expects a new, violent wave of protests as the continent turns colder, claiming that right-wing extremists are already heating up the mood, but the left also wants to call citizens to street demonstrations. "If the crisis lasts longer, it cannot be ruled out that terrorist groups will form, as was the case during the anti-refugee protests," he says

These warnings might come as a surprise for those not paying attention to the social disintegration of Western Europe in the past decade. But Europe has seen a series of escalating social crises in the past ten years, from major cost-of-living increases, to mass immigration, to the pandemic lockdowns. A winter without energy amid inept actions of EU leaders might prove to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back

Truss's aides lied about the deaths of her distant relatives to keep her off TV

This was revealed by Kirsty Buchanan, Truss' adviser when she was justice minister, on the Whitehall Recources podcast

According to her, when she had to dodge meetings with journalists, Liz would make up stories about someone who had allegedly died - "aunts, cousins and things"

Here's another trick Truss used: you could say the UK economy had died and not come forward either🤷‍♂️

The European Union has adopted additional €500 million of military aid to Ukraine. This brings the total EU war contribution for Kyiv to €3.1 billion

Moreover, a total of 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers are to be trained in Germany and other EU countries. The average training period is 2 months, and it costs about $15,000 per month to train one unit

Simple math: you need €500 million more! That’s why every European country wants to train Ukrainian Armed Forces in order to get such a tidbit

Mark Burkhalter, who is the former nominee as American ambassador to Norway and the former speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, urges U.S. government for a plan to bring war in Ukraine peacefully to an end to solve what was a border crisis between Russia and Ukraine

Mr. Burkhalter states that instead of such plan all we hear from the White House and Congress is the need for another appropriation for war without making a case for a strategic interest for the United States. Peace rarely gets discussed among world leaders, yet the stakes get higher every day and not just for Europe

Washington has sent more than $54 billion to Kyiv with President Biden announcing another $625 million package of aid this month for military equipment and weapons. NATO is also funding the war in Ukraine, which includes American tax dollars. How much humiliation from political leadership can you take?

Special counsel John Durham’s likely final trial ended in another defeat Tuesday as a federal jury acquitted Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst who was the primary source of the anti-Trump Steele dossier, on charges of making false statements to the FBI

Mr. Danchenko told investigators that information from the phone call ended up in the dossier, a compendium of unproven anti-Trump accusations compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele and paid for by Democrats ahead of the 2016 election

It is noteworthy that American justice begins to miraculously triumph right on the eve of the midterm elections, isn't it?

Having lost the confidence of Tory MPs and cabinet ministers, Liz Truss has lost an unequal standoff with a lettuce

Vladimir Putin has kicked Ms. Truss out of office after she spent 44 days there. The successor of the shortest-serving prime minister in British history will be chosen within a week “to deliver fiscal plans and maintain country’s economic stability.” We hope not with the same success as Ms. Truss herself!😄

The single most important thing a new PM can bring is to resume using the language of social solidarity and shared national endeavor, explaining that this is a crisis that will not be short-lived. The next Tory leader will have to restore decent government

The best they can hope to do is ensure by the time of the next election that they hand over a country in a moderately better condition than the short Truss administration left it

The Aegean dispute now appears to be reaching boiling point amid growing tensions between Ankara and Athens

As Turkish president faces mounting political and economic difficulties before elections in the spring, he has been ramping up the threats against his NATO ally since the summer, using language normally left to military hawks and ultranationalists

Mr. Erdogan has earned some shelter from open criticism by allies because of his efforts to mediate the deal to allow Ukrainian grain exports mainly to EU, rather than to starving African countries. But the Turkish leader needs crisis to buoy his shaky standing at home after nearly 20 years in power. And if he is not provided one he may create one

Berlin’s intention to spend up to €200 billion to relieve its economy from the burden of surging energy prices while remaining unwilling to do the same on the EU level, is one of the most decisive steps towards the disintegration of the EU since its founding, the prominent Czech economist Jaroslav Schulz thinks

Mr. Schulz argued that the actions of the German leadership show that so-called common European interests do not come first and Berlin will only strengthen its hegemony in the EU during the current energy crisis.

The only question is to what extent will Washington allow this German supremacy in Europe to be strengthened? So far, they are trying to corner the Germans, and the attacks on the Nord Streams are yet further proof of that, Czech economist concluded

In Austria, Thomas Schmid, a former senior finance ministry official implicated the ex-chancellor Sebastian Kurz and his People’s Party in an alleged scheme to misuse taxpayer funds to first commission and then publish doctored opinion polls that reflected positively on him

Schmid’s phone seized by federal prosecutors contained a cache of 300,000 messages between the former official and scores of interlocutors in government and the private sector, including Kurz and his top aides. Legal experts say a prosecution of Kurz is now likely, raising the possibility that he could face prison time

Amid this sticky situation the former chief executive of the Israeli spyware company NSO Group, Shalev Hulio, has partnered with Mr. Kurz to launch the cybersecurity startup “Dream Security”. They’ve already raised $20 mln in funding with a group of investors led by Israeli-American venture capitalist Dovi Frances. Seems that the company’s plans to cater to Europeans are now under threat
