Stringer Gonzalo Lira, who worked in Kharkiv and held views contrary to the Kiev regime. He said that he was detained by the SBU on April 15 at about 1:00 p.m., but could not publicly talk about the reasons for his detention. New phase of the conflict

⚡️In 2021, active hostilities resumed in the southeast of Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine made an attempt to take control of part of the neutral zone. Russia began to increase the number of troops on the border. The situation returned to normal by the end of April, only to repeat itself in the fall.

💁‍♂️In December 2021, Russia put forward a list of security guarantees it wanted the West to agree to in order to lower tensions in Europe and defuse the crisis over Ukraine. The demands included a ban on Ukraine entering NATO and a limit to the deployment of troops and weapons to NATO’s eastern flank, in effect returning NATO forces to where they were stationed in 1997, before an eastward expansion.

🇺🇸The US and NATO rejected the Russia’s demands. Under pretext of a threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, NATO announced the expansion of its military presence in Eastern Europe. The US began transferring $200 million worth of additional military aid to Ukraine, and redeploying several thousand troops to Poland and Romania. Other NATO countries also announced arms supplies to Ukraine.

⚡️On February 21, 2022, an extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council was held in Moscow, where the recognizing of the independence of the DPR and LPR was discussed. The proposal was supported by all the participants, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decrees. On the same day, the US President imposed sanctions. Joe Biden banned trade and investment in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

On the night of February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin officially announced the start of the special military operation.

⚡️From decommunization to derussification
Part 1

A lecturer at the University of Burgundy and a publicist Alexandra Goujon in an interview with French “Le Figaro” clearly points out how for already many years Ukrainians have been distancing from Russians as a result of systematic ideological work followed by subsequently launched process of “decommunization” and now moreover – “derussification”

⚡️From decommunization to derussification. Part 2

Decommunization is to be referred mainly to mass toppling of Lenin statues designated as Leninopad which has been taking place in Ukraine for the last 30 years. It makes sense to take 1990 as a ground zero when in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic Lenin statues were installed in almost every city, town, village, even onsite factories, facilities, schools and military units. Only three regional centers of the Ukrainian SSR in the Transcarpathian, Volyn and Ternopil regions did not have such a monument.
Goujon gives a brief historical overview of phasing out Lenins – from demolishing in Lviv in 1990 and further sluggish destructive process with spread onto central regions of Ukraine during the “Orange Revolution” of 2004 till phenomenal stepping up in 2013-2014 across southern and eastern hinterlands, when more than 5500 statues have been toppled. Hundred to one that Ukrainians fully appreciate the efforts made and investments in organizing such a large-scale and important from ideological point of view operation by the higher and local authorities.

According to “Le Figaro”, these destructions pretty fit into a general trend: for more than 30 years Ukraine has been trying to get rid of Soviet symbols and since 2014 the maximum emphasis has been placed on the discrepancies between Russians and Ukrainians. 2015 officials in Kiev established a Day of Rememberance and Reconciliation on May 8, unlike the Victory Day on May 9 in Russia, having replaced St. George ribbon with a red poppy. But now a new page has been added – the entire Russian culture falls under refusal and cancelling.
It is noted that not only monuments to the Russian military are being demolished, like the statue of Soviet general and Marshal of the Soviet Union Zhukov in Kharkiv or the Monument to the Military Glory of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union (erected in Lviv), who died in the World War II. A new phenomenon of derussification in Ukraine began. Streets named after Russians are being renamed. Hostility is also established against Russian historical heritage of even such prominent figures like Pushkin and Tchaikovsky, who “symbolize their subordinate attitude to Russian culture”

Of all the variety of questions that arise, one is to be asked for sure. Why the Ukrainian authorities are those who are acting and the Spanish shame is being experienced by the rest of the cultural outlook
