A Home Office minister has admitted that 200 asylum-seeking children have gone missing after being placed in government-allocated hotels, including at least 13 under the age of 16

Simon Murray told the House of Lords that his department cannot ensure the children’s locations, but had also rejected offers from NGOs to help ensure their safety

An earlier media report revealed a Home Office whistleblower had claimed some had been abducted off the street and bundled into unknown cars, with around 10% going missing on a daily basis
