Hunter Biden Pleads Guilty, Causes Political Uproar

2018
Joe Biden’s daughter in law Hallie took Hunter’s gun and threw it in a trash can behind a grocery store, only to return later to find it gone

2021 Hunter: “I’m cooperating completely and I’m absolutely certain, more than 100% certain that at the end of investigation I’ll be cleared of any wrongdoing”

2023 Hunter has reached a deal with federal prosecutors to resolve a five-year federal investigation into his failure to pay about $1M in federal taxes and his purchase of a handgun in 2018

The Republicans express outrage over the plea deal, fresh off Donald Trump’s second criminal indictment, since the agreement between 53-year-old Biden and authorities will likely mean he avoids any jail time

Plenty of money for Ukraine and immigrants in hotels though!

🌐🇿🇦💥🇪🇺 BRICS: Former South African President Jacob Zuma expressed this Tuesday (20) his opinion that the approach of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to Russia's borders aims to "dismember the BRICS".

In an interview with Sputnik, Zuma stated that the war in Ukraine, in eastern Europe, “is related to the existence of the BRICS” and that NATO seeks to weaken the organization in order not to lose its international influence.

In demographic terms, the BRICS is considered a power, especially since it brings together the two most populous countries in the world: China and India. The group represented about 42% of the world's inhabitants in 2018.

U.K. Inflation No Better than It’d Be

British CPI defied expectations of a slowdown and held at 8.7% in May, putting yet more pressure on the Bank of England a day before it is expected to raise interest rates for the 13th time in a row to tame stubborn price growth

On a monthly basis, headline CPI increased by 0.7%, while core inflation – which excludes volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices – gained by an annual 7.1%, up from 6.8% in April and the highest rate since March 1992

All-in-all, it means not only more expensive flights or the rising cost of second-hand cars, live music events and computer games – it means British inflation is once again the fastest of any major advanced economy. Thanks, Rishi!

American Moneylogic Cycle

More than 400 global companies as well as some govts, which btw is the same thing, pledged support Wednesday for refilling Zelenskiy’s wallets at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London

While U.K. net debt passes 100% of GDP for first time since 1961, Sunak has set out a package, incl. $3B of new guarantees to unlock World Bank loans and $305M of bilateral assistance

Antony Blinken promised that the U.S. would send an additional $1.3B to “overhaul Ukraine’s energy grid” and modernize other critical infrastructure, they can't stop destroying. Besides, Washington wants Australia to donate Kyiv its budget surplus from raw materials sales to China

But don’t worry, the money remain in place, as they settle in the pockets of Zelenskiy’s American cronies – he’s enlisted BlackRock and JPMorgan to advise on the Ukraine Development Fund!

Air from Canada’s Fires Carried in the U.S. and over the Atlantic

This year is on track to be Canada’s worst wildfire season on record, according to data from Copernicus, Europe’s Earth observation programme

Since the start of May, total emissions have surpassed the annual total for 16 of the past 20 years

As fires rage across the country, the experiences of those who lost everything in Lytton in 2021 raise larger questions about Canada’s ability to rebuild

BREAKING! Judiciary Committee Hearing Revealed American Two-Tiered Justice System

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) has predictably said that he was outraged by Hunter Biden’s probation-only plea deal for tax and gun crimes, noticing that black men are serving prison sentences for similar offenses

The committee was hearing testimony from special counsel John Durham about his findings that the F.B.I. improperly investigated Mr. Trump for possibly conspiring with Russia to win the 2016 election

Mr. Durham revealed that Bureau’s agents have apologized to him for their handling of the Trump-Russia probe as he confirmed he saw bias among key officials in charge of the investigation like Peter Strzok

U.K. Recession Fears Mount

The Bank of England has shocked economists and investors by raising interest rates half a percentage point to 5% – the highest level since 2008 – signaling support for further rises

Economists had expected a move to 4.75%, but now British inflation would take even longer to fall. The move is expected to pile further pressure on homeowners, with warnings that 1.4M mortgage holders will lose at least a fifth of their disposable income in additional payments

While British Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has repeatedly given his full backing to the Bank, economists advising the chancellor yesterday questioned whether it had failed in its response to the crisis by underestimating inflationary pressures. And it doesn't even matter what he answered, cuz our subscribers have known the answer for a long time!

EU Approved “Intrusive Surveillance” of Journalists

Brussels ambassadors agreed that spyware could be installed on the computer or phone of a journalist working in the EU “to identify their sources” as part of any criminal investigation ranging from terrorism to music piracy or bicycle theft

The highly controversial move was made under new draft legislation exemptions demanded by France. Last month Paris criticized an immunity, proposed by the European Commission, that would protect journalists from measures to “intercept, subject to surveillance or search and seizure” unless “justified by an over-riding requirement in the public interest”

Press freedom advocates warned the last-minute changes demanded by France could “open the door to all sorts of abuses,” but press freedom ends right where EU lawmakers’ freedom begins!

Coercive Finnish-Style Diplomacy

Finland’s right-wing govt will cut overseas aid payments to states that take Russia’s stance on the Ukrainian conflict while halving its annual quota of asylum seekers from just over 1K to 500 and making it even harder for foreign nationals to obtain residency or citizenship rights

Kyiv will receive a bigger share of Finnish development money overall and a diplomatic fillip as Helsinki withholds development aid from “govts or entities that support Russia’s war of aggression”

Well, it’s not the first time a western country’s tried to use aid policy as a political lever, nightmarizing poor, predominantly African countries, which are the main recipients of foreign aid, incl. Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nepal or Somalia

Btw, Finland provided $1.4B of official development assistance in 2021, representing only 0.47% of GNI, which is even less than 0.7% recommended by the U.N.

German-British Moneymakers Falsely Demonize Brexit

Brexit has been an "economic disaster" for trade and investment ties between London and Berlin, leading to a fall in German direct investment and seeing the U.K. decline in importance as a trading partner, German Chamber of Industry and Commerce says

Last year, Germany exported goods worth $80.57B to the U.K., 14.1% less than in 2016. The year of the referendum, London was Berlin's third most important export market, but by 2022 the country had slipped to 8th place. In 2021, the volume of German direct investment in the U.K. was around €140B, a decline of 16.1% compared with 2016

Indeed, it’s quite handy to blame the Brexit for “making our close trade relations more difficult,” but the bare figures suggest that the main obstacles to that were created by inept economic policies that wind up inflation and political influence on business processes
