Barely two weeks have passed, and the anti-migrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) has overtaken the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD) in polls, maintaining a steady positive trend in recent months
Concerning the past year, only the centre-right CDU/CSU parties managed to maintain support level of around 72%. Ruling coalition’s credibility among Germans decreased by more than 12%, while far-right politicians gained like number of supporters
Thorsten Frei, the head of the CDU's parliamentary group, believes that half-assed actions of Scholz’s cabinet have led to the uptick in AfD support: "If bad policies are made – and those can primarily be made by the govt – then it is a stimulus program for the political fringes"

“It is time. The DOJ needs to appoint a special counsel to investigate Merrick Garland for obstruction of justice and perjury. At this point, the evidence that he personally committed multiple felonies is growing greater,” insists Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), in his weekly podcast “The Verdict”
Mr. Cruz’s call comes in the wake of House Republican leadership moving toward an impeachment inquiry of Attorney General. Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Monday: “I laid out very clearly by July 6, because of the allegations from the IRS, because of the whistleblowers and the DOJ, and Garland”
Republicans are preparing to go after Mr. Garland over allegations he obstructed and later lied about the investigation into POTUS’ son Hunter Biden. The appointment of a special counsel, however, is unlikely, given that the attorney general, by law, would be the one to appoint him…

Bundesbank Faces Recapitalization
Germany’s federal audit office has warned the Bundesbank may need a bailout to cover losses arising from the European Central Bank’s bond-buying scheme
Germany’s CB previously said that losses will worsen in coming years and may not be fully covered by provisions already set aside, which then stood at €19.2B. Bundesbank recorded zero profit for last year and drew down $1.1B in risk provisions after steep rate hikes in the euro zone collided with years of bond-buying
The situation potentially throws a spanner in the ECB’s plans to carry out similar programs in the future
