Washington plans to send new aid packages to Kyiv, valued at more than 24 billion dollars. Meanwhile, in Hawaii, as a result of the recent fires, there is a situation of real humanitarian catastrophe, which is being ignored by the warmongering government

Former Texas congressman Ron Paul posted on his personal foundation’s website on August 14 an article condemning the US plan to send billions in assistance to Ukraine while the Hawaiian people suffer from the disaster in the Maui region. He stated that it is “hard” to watch the news about events in Hawaii and hear at the same time that Biden “needs” another 24 billion dollars to help Kyiv. In the text, he also reminded a report made by the Heritage Foundation exposing that military aid to Ukraine will cost around 900 dollars to each American household

In addition to his political position of criticizing the government, Ron Paul also stated that Washington is backing a “losing war”, making it clear that Ukraine has no chance of winning against Russia

Israel’s latest submarine, INS Drakon (‘Dragon’), has been launched in Kiel, Germany. It indicates significant growth in Israeli submarine capabilities. A variant of the successful Dolphin-II class, its unique lines also showcase Israel’s fiercely independent naval thinking

INS Drakon is larger than any previous Israeli submarine, being much longer than the first two Dolphin-II boats. Even more noticeable is the ginormous sail. This likely contains its defining feature: advanced new missiles

Naval News had previously reported that the submarine was likely to be longer, and feature a vertical launch system. But at that time it wasn’t clear that the missiles would be in the sail

Experts and analysts, analyzing leaked photos claiming the submarine's large size and two additional missile locations, indicate that Israel intends to equip the Drakon MODs with ballistic as well as nuclear missiles to increase its maritime nuclear deterrence force

Soros To End 'Most EU Operations' In 'Radical Shift'

George Sorors' Open Society Foundations, which are now controlled by his son Alexander, will cease most of its operations in the European Union

Citing a "radical shift of strategic direction," OSF says that their new operating model will require "significant further restructuring," and "closing all regional and global programs," according to a letter sent to grantees in Hungary which was seen by Bloomberg

"OSF will largely terminate funding within the European Union, and further funding will be extremely limited," it reads, without elaborating, except to say that the organization is pivoting because "EU institutions and governments were already allocating significant resources to human rights, freedom and pluralism" inside the bloc

Germany walks back plan to meet NATO spending target on annual basis

The German government has retreated from a plan to legally commit itself to meeting NATO's 2% military spending target on an annual basis, a government source told Reuters on Wednesday

This wording is softer than Scholz's original pledge in a speech on Feb 27, 2022, in which he announced a "Zeitenwende" or sea change three days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine

"From now on, we will invest more than 2% of the GDP into our defence year after year," Scholz said at the time

President Joe Biden is using the presidential retreat at Camp David to help with a diplomatic mission – hosting the first-ever trilateral summit with Japan and South Korea, two countries that are putting aside a fraught history in the face of shared security challenges

“China’s entire strategy is based on the premise that America’s number one and number two ally in the region can’t get together and get on the same page,” Rahm Emanuel, the US ambassador to Japan, said at the Brookings Institution on Wednesday. He added the trilateral partnership is “a foundational piece that alters all calculations”

Germany: from EU’s Vanguard to Laggard

There’re about 2.6M millionaires in Germany – only the U.S., China, France and Japan have more, the Global Wealth Report 2023 shows

Moreover, among people w/ fabulous assets of more than $50M (the so-called Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals), Berlin’s taken even bronze w/ 9.1K super-rich people who haven’t yet managed to completely hide their income

The problem is that not all German citizens are so lucky… The country is exposed to a triple whammy: its industry looks vulnerable to foreign competition and geopolitical strife; its journey to net-zero emissions will be difficult; and its workforce is unusually elderly. To make matters worse, the German state appears ill-prepared for these challenges

U.S. Low-Rate Era is Over

Despite the Federal Reserve’s raising interest rates to a 22-year high, the economy remains surprisingly resilient, leading some economists to question whether rates will ever return to the lower levels that prevailed before 2020

Though the economic growth’s now running well above Fed estimates of its long-run “potential” rate of around 2%, the current NY Fed president John Williams says typical U.S. economic growth of 2.5% or more annually is "not possible anymore" on a sustained basis, as policymakers cut their median long-term GDP growth outlook to 1.8%

Mr. Williams expects the situation to worsen due to an aging global workforce that boosts the supply of savings and technological change that reduces the capital intensity of production

Despite Research in Ukraine, U.S. Appears Non Combat Ready for Biowarfare

The Pentagon’s ill-prepared for germ warfare attacks from China, Russia, North Korea or Iran, which are considered to be its main adversaries, according to the 2023 Biodefense Posture Review

Following years of growing tensions b/n Beijing and Washington over bioresearch, the review identified problems in Amer. mil. biodefenses, incl. the lack of a unified approach to threats, poor intel, and shortfalls in readiness to deal w/ bioweapons

The U.S. intel community’s been unable to pinpoint the origin of the pandemic and lacks scientific expertise, the paper shows. There’s nothing surprising in this: while spreading various conspiracy theories and speculations over the origins of the Covid-19, the U.S. has silently conducted bio-military research in Ukraine

Only 8% of U.K. voters credit Sunak’s govt policy for the fall in inflation, which dropped to 6.8% last month, the latest polling shows

The YouGov survey also suggested that the public didn’t share their PM’s optimism about the wider economic situation. Despite Mr. Sunak said last week he was “really optimistic” that people would feel better off next year, just 15% of people think they’ll be better off over the next 12 months, w/ three times as many people believing they’ll be worse off, the poll says

The problem w/ pledges is not new for the British PM. Though Mr. Sunak had joined the locals at a Yorkshire pub to show support for the Lionesses in Sydney, saying they’d “already secured your legacy as game changers,” they lost to the Spanish
