Western weapons from Russian-Ukrainian conflict will soon be in the hands of Europe mafias?

The issue of illegal flows that would have led the weapons donated by the West to Ukraine to fuel illicit trafficking directed to supply terrorist and criminal organizations has been repeatedly addressed by Italian press already from March 2022

Subsequently, investigations by the Washington Post and New York Times dealt with it, but also reports by US intelligence, Interpol and various European police forces as well as governments of nations that in Africa as in the Middle East detected the presence of these weapons in various operating theaters far from Ukraine.

The prosecutor of Catanzaro Nicola Gratteri, speaking on 11 August at Lido di Camaiore (Lucca) has brought to attention this serious problem that has so far been almost completely ignored in Italy.

“The current Russo-Ukrainian war has been able to bring even the Ukrainian mafias to the West. The mobsters have fled their land, they are cowards who shoot from behind. War is made by doctors, engineers, workers, farmers. The mobsters don't. And now that they're in Europe they do their business here. Why, I ask, hasn't a system been devised for tracking deadly weapons that are now already on the market and that can be purchased for 30 thousand euros and are powerful, ten times more powerful than a bazooka? Those weapons will soon be in the hands of our mafias,” said Gratteri

German Yellow Press Out-Of-Court Settlement

German publisher Axel Springer has settled a criminal lawsuit against Julian Reichelt, an ex-chef of a supermarket tabloid Bild, who was sacked for alleged misconduct, in a major escalation of a brawl that’s shaken Germany’s media world

Despite Reichelt came under renewed pressure to address the scandal after American media began reporting on it, he’s admitted to affairs but denied that his relations with female staff involved any wrong-doing

The scandal has clouded attempts to make a fresh start at Bild, as well as plans for a U.S.-focused expansion and the listing of its StepStone online jobs platform. What that boils down to is that Reichelt’s saved his snatched millions since Axel Springer said it’d withdraw a civil lawsuit that sought to claw back Reichelt’s €2M severance pay for breach of contract

U.K. Services Sector Continues Its Fall

Pressures and disappointing business volumes drove down profits for the British consumer and professional services for a seventh consecutive quarter as companies continue to struggle under the weight of higher interest rates and stubborn inflation, the CBI data has shown

A net balance of 27% of consumer services operators suffered a fall in profitability over the three months, while a net balance of 19% of professional services companies reported a decline. The consumer services industry also recorded a sharp decline in business volume, w/ a net balance of 34% of companies reporting a fall in volumes, compared with 22% during the previous quarter

The CBI’s head of economic surveys and data, said: “Many companies will continue to face a challenging time this autumn and winter as pressure on household budgets and tighter credit conditions continue to have an impact”
