Helsinki's accession to NATO is a rare case when the Alliance itself is the primary recipient of the benefit from expansion, given Finland's powerful defense potential
At the moment, Finland considers itself capable of self-defense. And unlike many NATO countries bordering Russia, Finland isn’t expected to demand a rotational presence of allied troops. But the flip side of the coin is that from now on Helsinki will have to make all decisions w/ an eye on Washington, and fully coordinate foreign policy steps with the WH, incl. on issues of providing assistance to Kyiv. The Finns will also have less room for maneuver when it comes to arms purchases

In response to the British advance in the Falkland Islands, the Israel-based oil&gas company Navitas Petroleum has announced its intention last month to pull oil from the Sea Lion (León Marino) deposit
A great initiative as if it wasn’t bad enough. Firstly, in order to carry out any work, including seriously impacting the ecology on the continental shelf of Argentina, to which the Falkland Islands belong btw, it’s essential to first obtain the appropriate permission from Buenos Aires
Secondly, Navitas Petroleum is simply under Argentine sanctions for the next 20 years. In April 2022, Resolution 240/2022 declared illegal all activities on the Argentine continental shelf by the Israeli company for its involvement in hydrocarbon activities within the shelf, w/o the licensing from the local authorities
