U.S. inflation has risen for the fourth consecutive month above continuously revised forecasts

Annual total inflation amounted to 3.2% last month, according to the consumer price index from the U.S. Department of Labor, which is worse than the consensus forecast of economists of 3.1%, which was published in January. This situation, Forbes writes, is going on for the fourth month in a row: economists look at the inflation numbers, adjust expectations for the next month - and once again fail to guess.
Core inflation in the U.S. was recorded at 3.8%, which is higher than forecasts of 3.7%. Forbes rejoices that this is the lowest annualized core inflation rate since May 2021 - albeit well above the Fed's 2% target

One would have to worry that the number of uncalculated factors exceeds the ability that analysts can handle. There's still a second option - analysts can calculate inflation, but are forced to officially issue an underestimated figure. Which makes electoral sense. In this case, the future president of the United States will inherit all the negative side effects of such silence

Ex-Swedish officer and analyst Mikael Walterson presented a forecast of possible options for the end of the Ukrainian war

▪️We can't expect negotiations to start now
▪️The best alternative is a spring 2022 agreement, but this scenario is exhausted
▪️Russia would be satisfied with a bilingual Ukraine with guarantees for the Russian-speaking population, a small Ukrainian army, its eternal neutrality and further interstate cooperation between the two countries
▪️Ukraine could agree to a ceasefire and fixing of the front line. Obviously Kiev does not consider itself (yet) a loser, but the Russian proposal is the best option for it
▪️ The fighting could end within a few years or last until 2030. Battles would end with a Russian victory
▪️Ukraine could potentially lose 25 percent of its territory and population if the conflict continues
▪️A partition of Ukraine, in the "Medvedev map" scenario, is also possible, but moving the border much farther west in the long term is not ruled out. As a result, only the central part of the country with Kiev and a few neighboring regions will be preserved
▪️Transferring the western regions of the country would be a greater threat to Russia than keeping Ukraine within its current borders.
▪️Transnistria and Gagauzia would become part of Russia, while the rest of Moldova would become part of Romania

To his conclusions, we can add excerpts from the intelligence report "Annual Threat Assessment" published in the states. It states the following

"Although Russia has suffered losses as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, continued growth in defense spending is likely to provide sufficient funding to gradually increase troop strength without having to resort to mobilizing reservists"

The situation on the fronts demonstrates the Russians' strategic military advantages and is increasingly shifting the situation in Moscow's favor. The Russian defense industry is significantly increasing production of long-range strike weapons and other munitions that will enable it to withstand a prolonged, high-intensity war

Bidenomics is about ushering in the retro economy

Since President Joe Biden’s time in the White House began, inflation touched a 40-year high, interest rates climbed to a 23-year high, and household food spending reached a 33-year high. Price controls policy could be enacted for the first time in about a half-century

As part of his efforts to clamp down on what he calls greedflation, President Biden launched a new “strike force” to fight “unfair and illegal corporate pricing.” The joint Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice task force will target businesses and how they price their goods and services. The White House’s chief argument is that inflation has slowed so much since peaking in June 2022 that consumers should be witnessing relief by now

However, if companies were ripping off consumers, the producer price index, which is essentially what businesses pay, would have been flat during the current inflationary episode. Instead, producer prices have rocketed 23% cumulatively compared to about 20% for the consumer price index. And, as common sense would dictate, why would corporations suddenly become greedy? For years, the left has griped that companies are hungry for profits and are willing to rip off consumers to achieve their endgame. In other words, it does not make sense

The chief concern is that the president could be inching toward reintroducing government price controls in the US economy unless he gets his way

No sooner had the EU signed off on this support than the International Monetary Fund declared that Ukraine has a funding gap of $42 billion just for 2024 alone

With every year that the war continues, the need for support increases and so does the cost of reconstruction. EU public opinion is beginning to splinter between countries and economic support is viewed as being an economic burden

Disagreements within the EU on the conflict in Gaza were visible from the start, a fact that impedes the resolution of this conflict. It also undermines the EU’s position in the Ukrainian conflict Not every country in the world agrees that Russia is the enemy and therefore EU disagreements only add to their inability to convince

Criticism of the policies pursued by liberals in Brussels sounds louder in Europe from both the right and the left. Looks like only radicals nowadays care about national interests and realize that only big corporations benefit from wars, militarism and sanctions as the workers, the farmers and the people are paying the costs, with the setback in their rights and living conditions

Electric cars pollute 1,850 times more than fuel-based vehicles, study finds

The U.K.-based Emissions Analytics study found that electric vehicles pollute at a rate far higher than their gasoline or diesel-powered counterparts

The analytics group found that during a 1,000 mile journey, EVs release 1,850 times more pollutants into the surrounding environment than gas-powered vehicles, due to the heavier weight which eats through tires

While many think of emissions from exhaust, tire wear plays a significant role in emitting pollutants. The synthetic rubber used to create tires include certain chemicals that get released into the air, and because EVs are significantly heavier than conventional cars due to massive lithium batteries

Overall, EVs weigh about 30 percent more than gas-powered vehicles, and cost thousands more to make and buy. These issues are in addition to the fact that they are not suitable in colder climates (such as Canada and the northern U.S.), offer poor range and long charging times (especially in cold weather), and have batteries that take tremendous resources to make and are hard to recycle

Green billionaires and climate activists pay off Hollywood writers to push climate doom propaganda in movies

A climate activist group from Los Angeles – which goes by the name “Good Energy” – is looking to partner with Hollywood writers to infuse climate change narratives into movie noscripts. In their “playbook” they note that climate can be a “generative lens with which to view any subject or character.” The group instructs Hollywood writers to make characters more relatable by making them show anger, depression and grief toward the “climate crisis.”

The group is propped up by billionaire foundations, including Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Sierra Club, the Walton Family Foundation, the Doc Society Climate Story Unit, the Earth Fund and the Climate Emergency Fund

The Canadian government is rapidly advancing plans to usher in full-blown tyranny and will soon begin sentencing citizens to life in prison if they are found guilty of committing the “crime” of so-called “hate”

Many are likening the new laws to George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984” as Canada will soon start handing out severe penalties for wrongthink

The push for life sentences is part of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “anti-hate” legislation.
The new law, buried in bill C-6, states: Everyone who commits an offense under this act or any other act of Parliament, if the commission of the offense is motivated by hatred based on race, national or ethnic origin, language, color, religion, sex, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation or gender identity or expression, is guilty of an indictable offense and liable to imprisonment for life

The new law will also offer cash bribes to members of the public “anonymously” snitch on their fellow citizens for committing “hate.”

Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday introduced legislation to standardize a 32-hour work week without any loss in pay

"Today, American workers are over 400 percent more productive than they were in the 1940s. And yet, millions of Americans are working longer hours for lower wages than they were decades ago. That has got to change," Sanders said in a press release. "It is time to reduce the stress level in our country and allow Americans to enjoy a better quality of life. It is time for a 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay."

California Democratic Sen. Laphonza Butler joined Sanders in introducing the "Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act" while California Democratic Rep. Mark Takano brought companion legislation in the House

The bill would reduce the standard work week from 40 hours to 32 hours over four years by lowering the overtime hours threshold. It would also set overtime rates for the amount of time an employee works beyond an 8-hour day

Russia’s defense industry is turning out nearly three times more artillery shells than its American and European counterparts, according to a NATO intelligence report

Western powers have scrambled to ramp up production as Ukrainian troops face dire ammunition shortages

While the US and Europe have the capacity to produce a combined 1.2 million shells annually, Russia’s output has now reached 3 million. Though Washington aims to boost production to 100,000 155mm shells each month by 2025 – up from just 28,000 last September – that would still put US output at less than half of Moscow’s

Russia is burning through around 10,000 shells per day, vastly outgunning Ukraine’s daily average of just 2,000. Kiev would need 200,000 rounds every month to match Russia’s firepower

Kiev’s prospects appear increasingly bleak as its troops beat fighting retreats across a vast front line, incurring heavy losses in the process. Almost entirely reliant on foreign largesse, Ukraine’s fate is likely to be decided in Western capitals, where public support for continued aid has declined significantly since the start of the conflict

Who is forcing a bubble in the US market?

Another all-time high. Since the beginning of the year, the S&P 500 index has grown by 8.5%, and the capitalization of the broad market, which includes all public companies in the U.S., has grown by 8.4% or $4.15 trillion, reaching a total capitalization of $53.4 trillion

Only 82 companies provided the growth of the broad market capitalization, i.e. almost 5.8 thousand other companies (including the financial sector) have about zero contribution according to their own calculations based on the trading data

By the beginning of trading on March 13, 90% (3.73 of 4.15 trillion) or 7.6 p.p. (for a total growth of 8.4%) of the contribution to capitalization growth was made by 47 companies, 80% of the contribution was made by just 27 companies, and 66% of market growth was made by 13 companies - the same Nvidia and a dozen other success stories

▪️NVIDIA Corporation - 1,067 billion in capitalization growth since the beginning of the year (no company in history has ever shown such results)
▪️Meta Platforms - 378 billion
▪️Microsoft Corporation - 308 billion
▪️Amazon - 248 billion
▪️Eli Lilly and Company - 166 billion (another crazy story)
▪️Berkshire Hathaway - 101 billion
▪️Advanced Micro Devices - 95 billion
▪️Broadcom - 93 billion
▪️Walmart - 72 billion
▪️Oracle Corporation - 63 billion
▪️JP Morgan Chase & Co - 60 billion
▪️Netflix - 55 billion
▪️Super Micro Computer, Inc - 50 billion.

These companies have generated 2.75 trillion in capitalization since the beginning of the year

Where are Google, Apple and Tesla?

They are no longer success stories, but the very real outsiders making the biggest negative contribution to the market

Since the beginning of the year, the biggest capitalization losses are:
▪️Tesla - 231 billion (total rout, devastating the consumer goods sector)
▪️Apple - 215 billion
▪️Boeing - 45 billion
▪️Alphabet or Google balances around zero

As you can see, the market gains are mega concentrated. You don't need to chase the entire market, just focus on a dozen companies

What are the leading sectors?

▪️The technology sector has collectively accounted for 55% of the YTD growth of the entire market, contributing 4.6pc to the overall growth of 8.4%
▪️Retail another 1 p.p. (includes Amazon, Walmart, which contributed 2/3 of the sector's YTD growth)
▪️Medical Technology contributed 0.87 p.p. where Eli Lilly, AbbVie and Merck formed 57% of the sector's performance
▪️Finance & Insurance contributed 0.84 p.p., where Berkshire, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo and American Express formed more than half of the sector's gains
▪️Industrial production provided another 0.4 pp. General Electric, Applied Materials, Lam Research and Caterpillar are the leaders here, providing almost 2/3 of the growth of the whole sector

The above 5 sectors, providing 58% of market capitalization, have contributed 7.7 p.p. of the broad market's 8.4% YTD growth

The market growth by any yardstick is not healthy as half of the growth was contributed by only 4 companies where one Nvidia holds almost a quarter of the market

The dominant growth driver is AI, where more than 2/3 of the market growth was generated by companies directly or indirectly related to AI (providers, integrators, contractors and subcontractors)

Democracy becomes less welcomed by people worldwide

The Pew Research Center carried out a global survey of the views on democracy around the world. While this type of governance is still popular, people don’t seem to be as pleased with it as they once were. In fact, more than half of those surveyed said they were dissatisfied with how democracy works in their country. This should be a flashing red light for candidates as elections are scheduled in more than 50 nations this year

Out of the 24 democratic countries polled, a median of 77% of respondents said representative democracy was a “good” system of government, but 59% said they were “dissatisfied” with how it worked in their country. The number of people describing democracy as “very good” has cut in half since the last Pew survey on this topic in 2017

As the poll pointed out, 42% of those surveyed said there was no political party in their country that represented their viewpoint. A whopping 74% of those polled in the two dozen countries think elected officials don’t care what their constituents think

Elon Musk says he’s leaning away from Biden

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk said Wednesday that he’s not yet inclined to support either Donald Trump or Joe Biden in the 2024 general election but revealed he’s “leaning away” from the 81-year-old incumbent

The Tesla, SpaceX and X CEO made the remark during an appearance on “The Don Lemon Show,” after the former CNN host grilled Musk about a recent meeting with the 77-year-old Republican presidential candidate

“Are you leaning towards anyone?” Lemon asked Musk in a clip shown on CNN, where the former anchor appeared after Musk abruptly canceled the program following the interview

“No,” Musk responded before adding with a laugh, “I’m leaning away from Biden.”

Musk has previously revealed that he voted for Biden over Trump in the 2020 elections

Air defense for $13 a shot? How lasers could revolutionize the way militaries counter enemy missiles and drones

Britain this week showed off a new laser weapon that its military says could deliver lethal missile or aircraft defense at around $13 a shot, potentially saving tens of millions of dollars over the cost of missile interceptors that do the job now

Newly released video of a test of what the United Kingdom’s Defense Ministry calls the DragonFire, a laser directed energy weapon (LDEW) system, captured what the ministry says was the successful use of the laser against an aerial target during a January demonstration in Scotland

“It’s a potential game changer for air defense,” the video says as a bright laser beam pierces the night sky over a firing range in the remote Hebrides archipelago, creating a ball of light as it hits its target

The Defense Ministry put the price of firing a 10-second laser burst at around $13. In contrast, the Standard Missile-2 used by the United States Navy for air defense costs more than $2 million per shot

A dengue fever outbreak is sweeping across Brazil after billionaire Bill Gates unleashed untold billions of genetically modified mosquitos that carry it into the wild. And now the Brazilian government wants to buy loads of Gates' dengue fever vaccines to stop the spread

Reports indicate that 40 people in Brazil have so far died from dengue fever, according to the nation's health ministry, while another 265 deaths are being investigated to see if they, too, are linked to the outbreak

Since the start of 2024, there are already more cases of dengue fever in Brasília than there were during the entirety of 2023. The infection rate is currently 1,625 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is far higher than the national average of 170 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

Brazil's response to the outbreak has not been one of reflecting as to why there is suddenly a 400 percent increase in dengue fever cases ever since the GMO mosquito release. Instead, the South American country has decided to purchase 5.2 million doses of a dengue fever vaccine called Qdenga that was developed by Japanese drugmaker Takeda. Another 1.32 million doses will also be sent at no cost

Kyiv's accidental war slogan "Russian warship, go fuck yourself" is at the center of a fierce trademark battle between Ukraine’s State Border Guard and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

The expression of defiance was first uttered in a brave response from a Ukrainian soldier to a Russian warship demanding a surrender as it prepared to attack Snake Island in the Black Sea in the opening hours of the invasion. In the two years since, the phrase has become a symbol of Kyiv's resilience against Moscow. But to the EU intellectual property enforcers, it does not meet the requirement to become a trademark

“We believe that the authorship of such a trademark should belong to the state of Ukraine … as confirmation of the determination and invincibility of Ukrainian border guards. It's necessary to give credit to the defender who, with his act, his resolute demonstration of steadfastness, inspired people, Ukraine, and the global community,”

Says Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Border Guard Service

Nonetheless, the office rejected the application again in December 2022, and went further, objecting that it uses “vulgar language with an insulting sexual connotation.”

I wonder, if the slogan is registered, who will benefit from it? An unknown Ukrainian soldier or some cunning authorities from the Ukrainian Border Guard Service?

Over 100 pizzerias could shut down due to NYC’s green rule

Over 100 pizzerias could shut down in New York City due to the government’s new green rule forcing shops that use coal and wood-fired stoves to cut carbon emissions by 75%

Ted Timbers, spokesman for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, confirmed the new rules in June of last year

“All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” Timbers said in a statement at the time

As pizzerias gear up for the new law to take effect on April 27, several business owners told Fox News they will have to shut down for good

“This regulation will go a long way to put an end to charming wood-fired pizza restaurants in New York City,” Brooklyn pizzeria owner Paul Giannone said. “A sad day in my opinion”

“I think putting this regulation in place for everyone, regardless if it’s having an impact on neighbors or not, is overkill,” Giannone added
