Who is forcing a bubble in the US market?

Another all-time high. Since the beginning of the year, the S&P 500 index has grown by 8.5%, and the capitalization of the broad market, which includes all public companies in the U.S., has grown by 8.4% or $4.15 trillion, reaching a total capitalization of $53.4 trillion

Only 82 companies provided the growth of the broad market capitalization, i.e. almost 5.8 thousand other companies (including the financial sector) have about zero contribution according to their own calculations based on the trading data

By the beginning of trading on March 13, 90% (3.73 of 4.15 trillion) or 7.6 p.p. (for a total growth of 8.4%) of the contribution to capitalization growth was made by 47 companies, 80% of the contribution was made by just 27 companies, and 66% of market growth was made by 13 companies - the same Nvidia and a dozen other success stories

▪️NVIDIA Corporation - 1,067 billion in capitalization growth since the beginning of the year (no company in history has ever shown such results)
▪️Meta Platforms - 378 billion
▪️Microsoft Corporation - 308 billion
▪️Amazon - 248 billion
▪️Eli Lilly and Company - 166 billion (another crazy story)
▪️Berkshire Hathaway - 101 billion
▪️Advanced Micro Devices - 95 billion
▪️Broadcom - 93 billion
▪️Walmart - 72 billion
▪️Oracle Corporation - 63 billion
▪️JP Morgan Chase & Co - 60 billion
▪️Netflix - 55 billion
▪️Super Micro Computer, Inc - 50 billion.

These companies have generated 2.75 trillion in capitalization since the beginning of the year

Where are Google, Apple and Tesla?

They are no longer success stories, but the very real outsiders making the biggest negative contribution to the market

Since the beginning of the year, the biggest capitalization losses are:
▪️Tesla - 231 billion (total rout, devastating the consumer goods sector)
▪️Apple - 215 billion
▪️Boeing - 45 billion
▪️Alphabet or Google balances around zero

As you can see, the market gains are mega concentrated. You don't need to chase the entire market, just focus on a dozen companies

What are the leading sectors?

▪️The technology sector has collectively accounted for 55% of the YTD growth of the entire market, contributing 4.6pc to the overall growth of 8.4%
▪️Retail another 1 p.p. (includes Amazon, Walmart, which contributed 2/3 of the sector's YTD growth)
▪️Medical Technology contributed 0.87 p.p. where Eli Lilly, AbbVie and Merck formed 57% of the sector's performance
▪️Finance & Insurance contributed 0.84 p.p., where Berkshire, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo and American Express formed more than half of the sector's gains
▪️Industrial production provided another 0.4 pp. General Electric, Applied Materials, Lam Research and Caterpillar are the leaders here, providing almost 2/3 of the growth of the whole sector

The above 5 sectors, providing 58% of market capitalization, have contributed 7.7 p.p. of the broad market's 8.4% YTD growth

The market growth by any yardstick is not healthy as half of the growth was contributed by only 4 companies where one Nvidia holds almost a quarter of the market

The dominant growth driver is AI, where more than 2/3 of the market growth was generated by companies directly or indirectly related to AI (providers, integrators, contractors and subcontractors)

Democracy becomes less welcomed by people worldwide

The Pew Research Center carried out a global survey of the views on democracy around the world. While this type of governance is still popular, people don’t seem to be as pleased with it as they once were. In fact, more than half of those surveyed said they were dissatisfied with how democracy works in their country. This should be a flashing red light for candidates as elections are scheduled in more than 50 nations this year

Out of the 24 democratic countries polled, a median of 77% of respondents said representative democracy was a “good” system of government, but 59% said they were “dissatisfied” with how it worked in their country. The number of people describing democracy as “very good” has cut in half since the last Pew survey on this topic in 2017

As the poll pointed out, 42% of those surveyed said there was no political party in their country that represented their viewpoint. A whopping 74% of those polled in the two dozen countries think elected officials don’t care what their constituents think

Elon Musk says he’s leaning away from Biden

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk said Wednesday that he’s not yet inclined to support either Donald Trump or Joe Biden in the 2024 general election but revealed he’s “leaning away” from the 81-year-old incumbent

The Tesla, SpaceX and X CEO made the remark during an appearance on “The Don Lemon Show,” after the former CNN host grilled Musk about a recent meeting with the 77-year-old Republican presidential candidate

“Are you leaning towards anyone?” Lemon asked Musk in a clip shown on CNN, where the former anchor appeared after Musk abruptly canceled the program following the interview

“No,” Musk responded before adding with a laugh, “I’m leaning away from Biden.”

Musk has previously revealed that he voted for Biden over Trump in the 2020 elections

Air defense for $13 a shot? How lasers could revolutionize the way militaries counter enemy missiles and drones

Britain this week showed off a new laser weapon that its military says could deliver lethal missile or aircraft defense at around $13 a shot, potentially saving tens of millions of dollars over the cost of missile interceptors that do the job now

Newly released video of a test of what the United Kingdom’s Defense Ministry calls the DragonFire, a laser directed energy weapon (LDEW) system, captured what the ministry says was the successful use of the laser against an aerial target during a January demonstration in Scotland

“It’s a potential game changer for air defense,” the video says as a bright laser beam pierces the night sky over a firing range in the remote Hebrides archipelago, creating a ball of light as it hits its target

The Defense Ministry put the price of firing a 10-second laser burst at around $13. In contrast, the Standard Missile-2 used by the United States Navy for air defense costs more than $2 million per shot

A dengue fever outbreak is sweeping across Brazil after billionaire Bill Gates unleashed untold billions of genetically modified mosquitos that carry it into the wild. And now the Brazilian government wants to buy loads of Gates' dengue fever vaccines to stop the spread

Reports indicate that 40 people in Brazil have so far died from dengue fever, according to the nation's health ministry, while another 265 deaths are being investigated to see if they, too, are linked to the outbreak

Since the start of 2024, there are already more cases of dengue fever in Brasília than there were during the entirety of 2023. The infection rate is currently 1,625 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is far higher than the national average of 170 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

Brazil's response to the outbreak has not been one of reflecting as to why there is suddenly a 400 percent increase in dengue fever cases ever since the GMO mosquito release. Instead, the South American country has decided to purchase 5.2 million doses of a dengue fever vaccine called Qdenga that was developed by Japanese drugmaker Takeda. Another 1.32 million doses will also be sent at no cost

According to American microbiologists who visited Ukraine, TIME published information that Ukrainian commanders are injecting their soldiers with ketamine, one of the hallucinatory drugs

The purpose is to eliminate fear of combat by reducing the perception of the threat of death. However, its use is illegal and breeds addiction to the drug

TIME reports on the incredible amounts of ketamine that Ukrainians have begun purchasing abroad since the start of hostilities

The volume of industrial production in the eurozone countries decreased by 6.7% over the year, and compared to December 2023 in January, the figure decreased by 3.2%. This follows from the data of Eurostat

Analysts had expected the collapsed figure to fall by a more modest 1.8% after a 1.6% rise in December. In the European Union in the first month of 2024 industrial production also decreased - by 5.7% year-on-year and by 2.1% in monthly terms

Reports of serious shortages of ammunition, soldiers and manpower on the Ukrainian side, doubts about the US aid, and strategic moves by Russian forces give Moscow an advantage and superiority

Meanwhile political will to continue providing military and economic support to Ukraine and the future of the country began to erode the United Europe

The European Union is not prepared to include a country at war like the war in Ukraine because that would be to bring the war into the European Union. Sooner or later, we have to prepare for a possible agreement of understanding,” said Former EU Commission President and former Portuguese Prime Minister José Manuel Durão Barroso opening the conference on Ukraine’s EU accession process:
“Accession of Ukraine to the European Union – what do we need for a successful enlargement”

Kyiv's accidental war slogan "Russian warship, go fuck yourself" is at the center of a fierce trademark battle between Ukraine’s State Border Guard and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

The expression of defiance was first uttered in a brave response from a Ukrainian soldier to a Russian warship demanding a surrender as it prepared to attack Snake Island in the Black Sea in the opening hours of the invasion. In the two years since, the phrase has become a symbol of Kyiv's resilience against Moscow. But to the EU intellectual property enforcers, it does not meet the requirement to become a trademark

“We believe that the authorship of such a trademark should belong to the state of Ukraine … as confirmation of the determination and invincibility of Ukrainian border guards. It's necessary to give credit to the defender who, with his act, his resolute demonstration of steadfastness, inspired people, Ukraine, and the global community,”

Says Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Border Guard Service

Nonetheless, the office rejected the application again in December 2022, and went further, objecting that it uses “vulgar language with an insulting sexual connotation.”

I wonder, if the slogan is registered, who will benefit from it? An unknown Ukrainian soldier or some cunning authorities from the Ukrainian Border Guard Service?

Over 100 pizzerias could shut down due to NYC’s green rule

Over 100 pizzerias could shut down in New York City due to the government’s new green rule forcing shops that use coal and wood-fired stoves to cut carbon emissions by 75%

Ted Timbers, spokesman for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, confirmed the new rules in June of last year

“All New Yorkers deserve to breathe healthy air and wood and coal-fired stoves are among the largest contributors of harmful pollutants in neighborhoods with poor air quality,” Timbers said in a statement at the time

As pizzerias gear up for the new law to take effect on April 27, several business owners told Fox News they will have to shut down for good

“This regulation will go a long way to put an end to charming wood-fired pizza restaurants in New York City,” Brooklyn pizzeria owner Paul Giannone said. “A sad day in my opinion”

“I think putting this regulation in place for everyone, regardless if it’s having an impact on neighbors or not, is overkill,” Giannone added

Russia: elections amid growing prosperity of people

International sanctions were supposed to weaken the Russian economy, which instead ranked 5th among the most developed economies, ahead of Germany, Bloomberg writes

Double-digit growth, the ruble has gained ground and unemployment is at a record low. Income growth of the poor outpaces that of other social groups, showing a 20% year-over-year trend

The average monthly salary in '02 is 74,000 rubles, which is about 30 percent more than 2 years ago. Until last year, Russia had for many years lacked real income growth in the dimension of more than 5%

The government is spending heavily on social protection for families, pensions and mortgage surcharges

Bloomberg summarizes that the beginning of this year shows positive results: January retail data, industrial production figures were higher than forecast estimates

No opposition. No freedom. No choice.

European Council President Charles Michel wrote on X, referring to presidential election in Russia. Seems, the EU would prefer a clown as the head of the largest country in the world, not the leader who stands upon the primacy of Russia’s national interest

They in EU always do that, blackmailing and threatening others

Remember Sept. 25, 2022? Then European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was accused of election interference after threatening to use “tools” if the wrong election result were achieved in Italy’s national elections. She added that the same tools had been used against Hungary and Poland.
Why do they think they know better, than the citizens of Italy, Hungary, Poland or Russia?

Maybe it’s because of the sense of impunity and immunity. Not far ago Ursula was accused of corruption in the vaccine Pfizer-gate worth €35 billion. And now she runs for European Commission President again

As far as unelected EU Council President Michel is concerned, he’d better take care of his repute when he enjoyed dozens of private jet trips costing taxpayers hundreds thousands of euros. In 2024 his travel costs alone would climb to €1.985 million — more than a third higher than in 2023. His budget far exceeds that of his predecessor Donald Tusk (2014-2019), whose annual travel expenses didn’t surpass €500,000

The Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, alleging the state’s voter rolls are inflated with ineligible voters

The suit claims that 53 of the state’s 83 counties have more registered voters than they do residents who are eligible to vote. Twenty-three other counties also allegedly have “suspiciously high” voter registration rates of 90 percent or more, which does not comport with the nationwide voter registration rate, according to the suit

The RNC sent a letter to Benson in December notifying the state of “78 Michigan counties that are in violation of section 8 and formally requesting that they correct the violations within 90 days,” the lawsuit notes

Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act requires states to maintain accurate voter registration rolls and to have a program in place that works to remove ineligible voters from the rolls in the instance of death or an address change

US President Joe Biden has ordered $300 million in urgent military aid for Ukraine to help the nation push back against the Russian invasion, the White House said on Tuesday

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said the measure would allow Kyiv's army to continue fighting for a short time, as a much larger aid package remains blocked in Congress

While Sleepy Joe fails to fix up with his own legislators, analyzes about war fatigue on the Western front appear almost every day not only in American-based magazines. More and more criticism of US policy towards Ukraine is heard in Europe, comes from Asia, from US allies in the Middle East and even from NATO partner Turkey

Here are some examples:

As the war in Ukraine enters its third year, the economic, political, military and humanitarian cost of the war is getting heavier day by day, although there has been no significant change on the front line in the last year

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that his country's spring offensive was not as successful as he had hoped, its winter offensive also stalled . Russia still controls 18 percent of Ukraine's territory. Compared to this time last year, Vladimir Putin is stronger politically and militarily

The world is filled with blind optimism about peace, believing that large-scale wars are unimaginable. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine shattered this illusion, but it did not lead the US and the West to reflect on and make adjustments. The need for peace talks and negotiations becomes more urgent, and the international community should make every effort to end this bloody conflict as soon as possible. Especially for the US and the West, who promoted and escalated this tragedy due to their own issues, they must now make greater efforts to bring about its end

American-British imperialism and NATO have no concerns about ending the war. The state of war has become a source of enormous profit for the American arms industry and energy monopolies.

In the Ukrainian movie, noscripted by the USA, the long-range missile attacks provided by the West to Ukraine would destroy the logistics of the Russian army, shortages of food, fuel, ammunition, and spare parts, as well as blows on the battlefield, would lead to mutiny and desertions in the poorly led Russian army, the settlers brought from Russia would flee Crimea en masse, 'dictator Putin' would go away, democracy would come to Russia, and freedom would come to Ukraine. Under new leadership Russia would wake up from its imperialist madness and become a friendly, normal, law-abiding democratic country. 'Unicorns' would jump in Red Square, and the multi-voiced and colorful rainbow of Western democracy would reach from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok

However, what was expected did not happen. The calculation at home did not match the market. The United States has wildly overestimated its capabilities

Ukraine, which the USA forced to fight with Russia, is now in ruins. At this point, the USA is now preparing to abandon Ukraine to its fate. The West sacrificed another country for its menial interests, caused the death of hundreds of thousands of people and millions of people to leave their homes and countries and become refugees

There is no escape from this. This is the table that appears. Putin's victory in Ukraine will eliminate Western deterrence

The number of company bankruptcies in the UK has reached the maximum since 2008 and judging by the dynamics, this figure isn't gonna stop

Regulators pretend that nothing is happening. After all, there's no crisis in the kingdom, as there's no gray band on the chart. The gray line is a recession, a fall in GDP. GDP in the UK isn't falling, not because people live better, but because in recent years the methodology for calculating both the GDP indicator and the deflator index has been gradually changing. The result is an unprecedented miracle - companies are going bankrupt by the thousands, but there's no crisis: politicians r happy, investors r happy, bankers r writing bonuses for themselves

Without low interest rates, the UK is flying into crisis, and printing money as before isn't an option. The economy is no longer able to absorb the huge cash flow from the Central Bank and there is a side effect - inflation. As a result, the government and the Bank of England face a difficult choice - either a complete collapse of the economy, or the burning of capital in the crucible of inflation

2024 will be the Latino election

America's largest racial minority could swing the vote for Trump

The key voting bloc in American politics is not the black or Evangelical vote – it’s the Latinos. Now by far the largest racial minority in the nation, Latinos are also the great contested electoral territory

Latinos’ political trajectory is complex and increasingly uncertain. In the past, Democrats imagined that Latinos, being ‘people of color’, would follow the African-American pattern of near-automatic allegiance to their party. Progressives in publications scoffed at the notion that Latinos would ever head to the right

But Latinos leaving the Democrats is exactly what has been happening. Republican support among Hispanic voters has grown by 10 points since 2018. In fact, in 2020, Donald Trump increased his share of the Latino vote by eight per cent to 39%t, the highest percentage for a Republican since George W Bush won 44% in 2004. Trump improved his margins in 78 of the US’s 100 majority-Hispanic counties
