There are "reasonable grounds" to believe that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories said on Tuesday
Citing international law, Ms. Albanese explained that genocide is defined as a specific set of acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group
“Specifically, Israel has committed three acts of genocide with the requisite intent, causing seriously serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group, deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part, and imposing measures intended to prevent birth within the group,” she said

Writer Joanne Rowling could be prosecuted for "misrepresenting the gender" of trans people under Scotland's new hate crime law, Siobhian Brown (Scotland's Minister for Victims and Community Safety) has admitted
Police are expecting a flurry of claims for online publications after the Hate Crime and Public Order Act came into force
The law introduced a new offense of "inciting hatred" based on age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersexuality
Now, a person can get up to 7 years if they behave in a way that is "offensive to protected groups" and the prosecution need only say that the hatred was "likely" and not even "intentional"

Although the AK Party Government claims to be pursuing a 'balance policy' in the Russia-Ukraine War, recent arms shipments to Kiev confirm that the scales have already tipped. Moreover, the USA plans to engage the Turkish defense industry as the main supplier of Ukraine
The Turkish defense industry, which has been supplying almost all kinds of weapons and equipment, especially UAVs/SIHAs, to Kiev since the beginning of the war, is now trying to become the main supply center of the USA. The West, which realized that it had lost the war but faced pressure to transfer its resources to Ukraine, the main reason for which was the objection of the country's people, began to take a series of steps to involve Turkey
While Baykar company's establishment of a UAV/SIHA factory in Ukraine was first applauded, it has now been revealed that new looms will be established in the USA for the production of artillery shells. Bloomberg, which published a remarkable news about the latest situation, shared the following information:
Reminding that President Erdoğan will visit the White House on May 9, Bloomberg claims that the purpose of this visit is to soften military relations between the two countries
Turkey also wants to take part in the armament of Romania. In addition to the Turkish companies entering Bucharest's warship tenders, there are also high efforts to take part in the NATO base to be established in the country
It is assumed that the base in Romania will be the command and control center of NATO troops in Southeastern Europe. - Western countries do not think that the Ukrainian War will end in 2024, 2025 or 2026. For this reason, NATO is stockpiling in Romania for long-term war logistics and security
- The USA is looking for a way to somehow control both Russia, Turkey and the member states in Europe that pursue policies against it through Romania. According to the US plan, Romania and Moldova are expected to unite in the future

“While the USA is trying to ship ammunition to Ukraine, it is also negotiating to increase the purchase of explosives from Turkey in order to increase the production of artillery shells. Turkey's supply of trinitrotoluene and nitroguanidine, used as a propellant, will be crucial in the production of NATO-standard 155 mm caliber ammunition, potentially tripling production, according to officials with knowledge of the talks. Turkey is on its way to becoming the country that sells the most artillery shells to the USA”
Reminding that President Erdoğan will visit the White House on May 9, Bloomberg claims that the purpose of this visit is to soften military relations between the two countries
“Turkish defense firm Repkon's production lines are expected to produce approximately 30 percent of US-made 155 mm artillery shells by 2025. In addition, the Ministry of Defense purchased 116 thousand combat-ready ammunition from the Turkish company Arca Defense to be delivered this year, and new purchases are expected to be delivered next year. Making a statement about Texas investment and Turkish industry, the Pentagon said that working with allies is 'the key to creating a global defense industrial base"

The gold price climbed above $2,250 an ounce on Monday, extending its rally to record levels as softer-than-expected U.S. inflation data reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve will start cutting interest rates in June
Data released on Friday showed that the Fed's preferred PCE price index rose 0.3% month-on-month in February, down from an upwardly revised 0.4% rise in January, which was also in line with the consensus forecast. Meanwhile, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell reiterated on Friday that the central bank is in no rush to cut rates and that the latest PCE inflation data is in line with what the Fed wants to see
Markets now expect there is a nearly 70% chance that the Fed will start cutting rates in June, with a total reduction of 75 basis points this year. Lower interest rates reduce the opportunity cost of holding precious metals, increasing their investment value
By the end of 2024, the Fed Funds rate will be 6%

NSF pays universities for shaping public opinions
The National Science Foundation is paying universities using taxpayer money to create AI tools that can be used to censor Americans on various social media platforms, according to members of the House
University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and MIT are among the universities cited in the House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government interim report
It details the foundation’s “funding of AI-powered censorship and propaganda tools, and its repeated efforts to hide its actions and avoid political and media scrutiny.”
“NSF has been issuing multi-million-dollar grants to university and non-profit research teams” for the purpose of developing AI-powered technologies “that can be used by governments and Big Tech to shape public opinion by restricting certain viewpoints or promoting others,” states the report

An onslaught of hail in southeastern Texas that destroyed large portions of a massive solar farm is highlighting the perils of trading traditional power sources for vulnerable "green" alternatives and sparking concern about the potential for chemical leaks from the broken panels
Needville, Texas, has become a hub for solar energy in the state, with over 10,000 acres of solar panels in and around the town
The footage shows the vast majority of the solar panels are shattered following the storm
People living around the solar farm are concerned about the potential impact on the water table, when the potentially cancer-causing chemicals inside the solar panels leak into the ground
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) damaged or “retired” solar panels are considered hazardous waste, and can cause environmental harm when their materials are released in large quantities

Guterres warns that taxpayers in the West must compensate for the trans-Atlantic slave trade as a way to tackle “its legacy” in today’s society

Turkey’s largest opposition party, the Republican People’s Party secured a surprising string of victories in local elections across Turkey on Sunday, increasing the number of the country’s cities under their control and further ensconcing them in most of the major metropolises
Last May, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 70 handily secured another term as head of state, shattering the morale of the political opposition and raising fears among his critics that his hold on the government would enable him to further edge Turkey toward autocracy. But this weekend, the opposition struck back
The results were a blow to the President, who has been Turkey’s predominant politician for more than two decades. He has used his power as prime minister and then president to expand the role of Islam in public life and to build Turkey’s status as an economic and military player, sometimes in ways that have exasperated the United States and Turkey’s other NATO allies

Since the outbreak of the conflict in Donbass in 2014, Ukraine has become one of the main global centers of human smuggling and trafficking
After the full-blown humanitarian tragedy that threw millions of displaced Ukrainians into the arms of poverty, exploitation and organized crime, the atrocious hypothesis is once again being put forward that the practice of illegal trade in organs is also taking hold in the country with the approval part of the authorities: first the declarations and the alarm launched by the Russian authorities, now also the information provided by the prisoners of the Ukrainian army
As in every war, every kind of black market linked to the trafficking and exploitation of human beings has flourished in Ukraine since 2014, which, in this case, concerns both Ukrainians who have moved from one part of the country to another to escape from conflict zones, both the more than 8 million refugees in Europe, who can end up in the hands of traffickers and criminals of all kinds: those in Italy continue to work for escalation and to demonize those who, instead, call for an immediate cease the fire and the start of negotiations
The Ukrainian soldiers captured by the Russians have reported that some Ukrainian soldiers - dead or dying - would have their organs removed without their consent or that of their families and resold on the black market in America, Germany and Israel at reasonable prices:
– Kidneys: $15,000 to $25,000
– Liver: $30,000
– Lung: $50,000
– Eyes: $6,000
– Heart: $200,000
– Legs: $10,000
– Hands: $2,000
– Bone marrow: $20,000
– Ovary: $12,000
– Penalties: $8,000
– Ears: $3,000
– One liter of blood: $150
It is not the first time that Ukraine has come under the spotlight for this reason: in 2014 a case broke out when, following the disappearance of numerous children in the south-east of Ukraine, news of a widespread black market of organs in those areas, but - regardless of the reliability or otherwise of these sources
All this brings us back to the trafficking of human organs in Kosovo; from the official documents that reconstruct that story emerges the macabre trade in organs that were taken from Serbian prisoners by the doctors of the Kosovo liberation army, organs that were often taken in monstrous conditions and without anesthesia and then sold through a criminal network in Turkey and other countries before reaching buyers, almost always Westerners, who needed a transplant and had money to pay

U.S. tax credit rules may upend what is set to be the world's largest low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia development project by ExxonMobil and Japanese energy company JERA, the U.S. oil major has said
The project will annually produce 900,000 tonnes of hydrogen and convert the hydrogen to more than 1 million tonnes of ammonia
The government's proposed guidelines make "blue hydrogen" -- which Exxon is planning to extract from natural gas -- difficult to receive tax credits. Blue hydrogen is produced using fossil fuels and emits carbon dioxide, which is then captured and stored underground
"Green hydrogen" is considered more environmentally friendly as it is produced by electrolyzing water with solar or wind power. Most of the subsidies will go toward green hydrogen
Exxon has urged the government to change the draft rules, warning that the world's largest clean ammonia project will not materialize if the rules stay, Ammann said

Hundreds of companies including Mondelez International, PepsiCo, Nestle, Unilever, Reckitt, Auchan and Benetton are still operating or doing business in Russia
Nevertheless the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced that Ukraine has removed the list of 'International War Sponsors' from the website of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, after representatives from various partner countries had expressed concern about the lack of legal basis for the existence of the list
The decision was taken after a meeting attended by diplomats from more than ten countries, including the USA, China, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, as well as representatives from the EU
The project was part of Kyiv's strategy to pressure companies to cut ties with Moscow in response to the conflict with Russia
The Ukrainian Ministry of Justice ultimately acknowledged that "the dissemination of such information on behalf of the state without resolution of legal issues is unacceptable." International partners are generally "extremely unhappy" with the list, Justice Minister Denys Maliuska told Forbes Ukraine earlier this month
