Since the inception, our goal always was to allow $DUCK holders to capture value from Unit Protocol operations.
Previously it was done via a burning mechanism, and over the course of 6 months, we have burnt 391,408,535 $DUCK tokens, with an estimated value at the time of writing of almost $38 million.
But today, we’re excited to announce $DUCK staking.

So, what is qDUCK, and how does it work?
Unit Protocol collects two types of fees - Stability Fee & Liquidation Fee. These fees are collected inside the protocol treasury.
You can see statistics of fees collected on the community-run quackprofits.xyz website. So far Unit Protocol generated a total of 4,947,985 USDP in profits.

qDUCK smart contract uses the protocol treasury to buy $DUCK tokens from the open market every set interval of time and adds them to the qDUCK pool, distributing profits to $DUCK stakers.

Regarding our plans to change the stability fee from 1.9% to 10%, please note that:

– All CDPs that are already open will remain at 1.9%. However, if you withdraw part of your collateral, or mint $USDP from this particular CDP then the rate of 10% will apply;

– The 10% stability fee will be in effect for all new CDPs;

– We plan to lower the fee again once the peg has stabilized.

Unlike Unit Protocol’s previous staking model, you don’t have to unstake your DUCKs to claim your rewards – you can do that any time the fees are distributed by hitting CLAIM.

Here’s how to stake your DUCK:

- Choose how much DUCK to stake, or hit Max
- Choose how long you want to lock up your DUCK (from 1 week up to 4 years)
- Check how much veDUCK you’ll get for the amount and lock time you’ve chosen
- Hit Approve
- Confirm in your wallet
- Hit Lock
- Confirm in your wallet, again
- Congratulations! Your DUCK is locked in the pond. You can claim your rewards any time you see there’s been a distribution.

Unit Protocol on Fantom will have its own (and entirely independent) governance token. The token will be used for voting on:

- adding new collateral
- managing the limits for one collateral
- changes to stability and liquidation fees

Both stability and liquidation fees (on Fantom) will be distributed to holders of the new governance token.
