NBCUniversal’s head of advertising Linda Yaccarino is in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter, according to people familiar with the situation.

Ms. Yaccarino, chairman of global advertising and partnerships at NBCU, has been with NBCU for more than a decade, where she has been an industry advocate for finding better ways to measure the effectiveness of advertising. As head of NBCU’s advertising sales, she was key in the launch of the company’s ad-supported Peacock streaming service.

I know this is going to sound nutso, but I know Elon Musk by association. We have a few of the same friends and I have worked closely with some of his top employees from Tesla and SpaceX.

Knowing how and who he hires is something I am more familiar with than what he eats for lunch.

Everyone I know that works for him or with him is top shelf from an intellectual standpoint and also has a fantastic sense of humor. I once watched two of his Tesla Engineers (who were mildly inebriated) jailbreak a claw drop stuffed animal machine in a hotel game room on the second floor, re-program it to play its music non-stop, push it into an elevator and relocate it into the lobby.

That said, I think whomever he chooses for the new CEO at Twitter will be hyper-intelligent, incredibly well suited for the job and hilarious. That seems to be his type.

Can’t wait for the big reveal.
