UPDATE: Wildfires have devastated parts of the Hawaiian island of Maui, killing at least six people, damaging or destroying over 270 structures and reducing most of a historic town to ash. And fear is growing that the numbers will increase.

Massive Wildfires apparently spread due the high winds of Hurricane Dora…

Fires are affecting two areas of the island: Lahaina, a residential and tourist area with a commercial district in West Maui, and Kula, a residential area in the inland, mountainous upcountry region.

Estimated 6 dead. Dozens more injured. Thousands displaced.

Joe Biden said in a statement he has ordered “all available Federal assets” to help combat the wildfires, including Black Hawk helicopters provided by the Marines.

Anytime I see a disaster like this, my first immediate thought is Haiti.

I know it’s not to that scale, but I can’t help it…
